I had high expectations for Hexagon given its Michelin status, but the overall experience was underwhelming. ​To be fair, the food was pretty good, but it doesn't stand out compared to other Michelin-starred spots I've visited. ​The real issue for me was the service and atmosphere. It simply didn't feel like a fine dining experience. There was no coat check offered, which is a basic standard for a restaurant of this caliber. On top of that, the parking validation wasn't working that day, adding a bit of frustration to the end of the meal. ​Tip: If you do go, try to visit on a Sunday so you can park on the street for free and avoid the garage fees. read more

Unique food items with Exceptionally good service! Made our special day extra special. We visited them to kick off my birthday week. They read all the notes and were prepared as per the notes. Like we added that my daughter only eats rice or fries they made an exception to have fries available for her , even though it was not on the menu. Table service was extremely high end. It is very hard to fine that in GTA these days. The Michelin speaks for itself. It is beautiful and very comfortable dining with beautiful interior. Seats are far apart for privacy. The food was unique and worth the trip. I ordered an open toast which had many layers of distinct flavours like leek, mustard, cheese, roasted hazelnut on crispy toasted sourdough slice. Filling and flavoursome ! For my mains I went with ravioli with black truffle( the only vegetarian option) it was again quite unique and innovative dish. Scored reservations a day before somehow. Michelin star. What an unbelievable experience. Martin was most amazing to accommodate us. The food was exquisite. I didn't take a lot of pictures since everyone was enjoying dinner. Portion sizes were delicious, we basically shared for the whole table. Ordered all the appetizers and a few of the entrées and second options. Ordered sparkling rosé and red wine. Service was wonderful. Lively atmosphere even at 9 PM. And this was on a Thursday. Nice interior and exterior seating but made a bistro looking place (in the best of ways...comfort) into the finest of dining. 7 or more courses. Had dinner with friends at Hexagon and left somewhat disappointed. While the agnolotti was outstanding and the drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) were thoughtfully curated, the main courses--Arctic char and lamb--arrived cold. These dishes should be served piping hot, especially at a Michelin-rated restaurant. To their credit, they removed them from the bill and provided dessert and cheese, but it still impacted the overall experience. Service started strong but tapered off toward the end of the meal. A mixed experience--some highs, but also some surprising misses. read more

My girlfriend and I were first greeted with a glass of literally the best prosecco I've ever had. It was light, crisp and airy without much of that "processeco-ey" aftertaste. We opted for the tasting menu and the following items were highlights of the evening! Foiennel Cake: Imagine a crispy funnel cake but with creamy foie gras and a dash of sweetness from preserved berries. This was so unique and tasty! Hokkaido Scallop: Scallops are always a favorite but the melon and caviar added sweet and savoury components John Dory: This was one of my favourites! The skin was super crispy and the fillet was flakey with just the right amount of saltiness from the caviar Agnolotti: The only thing I wished was for a full-sized version of this. Al dente pasta filled with french cheese topped with freshly shaved truffle... heavenly Aged Duck: I love duck, especially when done right. The skin was oily (in a good way) and the meat was tender and full of flavor Pain au Lait: I try to limit my carbs unless its worth it, but wow the milk bread was warm, light and fluffy and divine with the butter slathered ontop The service was also super friendly and attentive and the chef personally came out each time and explained the menu and what order to eat everything in which added to the experience. Visited in May 2022 for my birthday brunch and really enjoyed. We brought our 14 month old daughter with us so we called ahead to see if they had high chairs - they did not. We had to bring one with us to seat her, which was fine but just FYI to any parents with really little ones. The service was super attentive and friendly plus the food was delicious. They also had a dessert and pastries cart when we visited which of course we had to order a few things off of to try. I had the smoked salmon toast and it was delicious. The other people in our party also enjoyed their food as well. The pastries were scrumptious, my favourite was the strawberry cake. Would definitely return here again someday! read more

4.5 This is an amazing restaurant! They have an amazing ambience and such a delicious menu. Definitely make reservations in advance, it gets busy. Plenty of parking available (street parking too). I came on a Sunday morning and just as I was getting seated it started to get busy. This place is super aesthetic, lots of grammable moments. I ordered the smoke salmon toast ($20) - definitely pricey but in line with other brunch spots in Toronto (but also factor in gas for Oakville unless you already live in that area). Also got a tonne of desserts which were good. The desserts change weekly, so you may get a different selection on your day. Prices are reasonable at around $5/dessert. Part of a longer review... "Hexagon's menu balances French classics with more imaginative dishes. Local ingredients and seasonality are given the spotlight, and influences from the chef's Mexican heritage punctuate the menu, providing an interesting story to accompany the food. Take the lobster burrito, for example, which is a delightfully messy parcel of goodness. Or the amuse bouche -- a delicate Kusshi Oyster from British Columbia doused with fermented habanero sauce. Another brilliant introduction to the meal is the scallop ceviche, served in a hollowed kohlrabi, coated with milky leche de tigre and balanced with the acidity from thinly sliced granny smith apple. Service was attentive but basis were not taught ie serve left and don't stretch across diners(more than one server). Cutlery was dirty. 3. Food: cervical was v good. Pork was chewy and fish was cooked well but on a bed of coconut rice with too much of the latter. No taste to the veggies. 4. Skipped dessert but asked for Spanish and Irish coffees but only espresso available. 5. Shamefully expensive There are similar restaurant in Oakville some better based on this visit. Came here for a birthday dinner and it's my first time trying hexagon so i was super excited. Their menu changes quite often so the menu they have online might not be super accurate. They do require a 20 dollar per person deposit for reservations which shouldn't be an issue if you show up! Service 5/5 Upon arriving, we were greeted by the hostess who offered us the option of dining in and out. I was about the choose indoors before i saw the beautiful patio they had alongside fuzzy blankets that were provided. We chose to sit outside and while it was quite windy, the blankets were super cozy and thick and kept us warm. Our server was super nice and we had people filling up our water so we never needed anything. Drinks 5/5 To be quite honest, we are not sure what we got. I asked for something fruity and my friend asked for something citrusy and asked the bartender to surprise us. The drinks were very delicious and were 18 dollars per cocktail. The bartender/wine connoisseur also came over to describe the drinks which was very nice. Food: Ceviche 5/5 We ordered it as our appetizer. Not your typical ceviche, but Japanese amberjack was delicious and the sauce and melon on top was paired with it splendidly. The flavours were not overpowering at all, all danced well with each other. Flavourful but light. Lobster ravioli: 6/5 I really enjoyed this dish. It's an Asian fusion laksa sauce which surprisingly paired well with Italian ravioli. The ravioli had a sweetness to it, paired with the creamy sauce that is a little spicy. The lobsters were tender and fresh, overall, a great dish Peaches and cream: 3.8/5 I really like the cream and peaches part of this dessert. However, i do think there's something lacking about the base. I believe it's made with oats but it just seem to be lacking something, not texture wise, but taste wise. Overall, not a very sweet dessert which i like. There's also tarragon oil infused which maybe made the base a little too oily? I'm not too sure but it was overall an OK dessert, but i wouldn't rave about it. Overall: 5/5 Overall had a really nice dinner with great food and service, would definitely visit again, Been meaning to try out their brunch as I've heard great things about it. I know this place from the 2020 top 100 Canadian restaurant list, and they were ranked as no. 81. They offered pick-up 5-course menu at $55 per person, and my recent experience with them was a 3.5-star rounded up to 4. We had to wait about 15 minutes after our scheduled pick-up time, and it came with large portions (big enough for a large eater). The food in general was okay but missing wow factor on every dish. Considering the value for money, I still rated them as 4 stars. - Bread with butter: bread was warm and yummy, with good quality of soft butter. - Crab salad: The asparagus tasted good and refreshing, but it overpowered the flavour of the crab. The crab was invisible. - Brioche tartine: The brioche was very thick and didn't taste too good. It was mixed with goat cheese and a lot of beans. The combination was a bit weird given everything with completely different texture in thick cuts being mixed together. The thick layer of heavy cheese, with the dry taste of beans and hard and thick brioche. I felt like I was eating a box of calcium tablets. I had to say they really paid a lot of attention to the nutrition balance as a French restaurant. - Potato gnocchi: This was my favorite dish. I liked the cheesy taste of the gnocchi. - Grilled octopus with sausage: This was completely burnt. My least favourite dish here. The octopus tasted so bitter due to being overcooked. - Hazelnut dark chocolate cake: It was a bit sweeter than I thought. Not one of the great hazelnut dark chocolate cake I've had, but I still can't say no to hazelnut dark chocolate. Overall, I wouldn't recommend travelling here on purpose for special occasions. During the current shutdown this restaurant is doing a fixed menu takeout. We decided to try it out. Overall this restaurant is a 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. The food is decent but not amazing, with generous portions. Read on for details The order process was straightforward. There is a link to tock where you can choose a pickup time and date. We set a 5 pm pickup (the earliest possible) but the food was not ready when we arrived. We waited until past 510 before we got our food. They also did not have disposable cutlery available. At first the waiter suggested we ask at their sister restaurant a few doors down, but it turned out they didn't have any either. As we live an hour away, taking the food home was out of the question. Fortunately the restaurant ended up providing us with regular cutlery, which we returned after our meal. As for the food, we had: Bread and butter - nothing special. The bread was soft. Crab salad - the combination of celery and light dressing made this a refreshing starter on a hot summer's day. The crab meat added contrast to both texture and flavour. Brioche tartine - this dish is rather heavy. The combination of brioche with beans and peas make this dish more like a main salad than an opener. The brioche portion was too large, after we've already had the bread so it feels redundant. Spicy beef tartare - this was an add on that was available at the time of ordering. The spicy vegetable topping overpowered the marinate and the beef rather than provide the gentle accent it should have been. I would not suggest getting this add-on. Potato gnocchi - this is a mix of gnocchi and oyster mushrooms. I think this is a dish that should be eaten with the octopus dish rather than on its own. The gnocchi needed either more flavour or some meats. The mushroom was alright though. Grilled octopus and sausage - the octopus was incredibly tender. The sausage skin was not crispy enough. The dish was served on a bed of lentils. They used large octopus tentacles which made it difficult to get the flavour inside. Chocolate and hazelnut cake - not too sweet, good portions. Overall, the menu was poorly designed, and aside from the crab salad no dish could truly stand on its own. The sheer amount of carbs is ridiculous - bread, brioche, and gnocchi, plus beans and lentils? One thing's for sure though - you will not be hungry after your meal. read more

Everything was so good! Upon entering, was greeted by hostess and directed to table. If you've forgotten your mask, they will provide you with one. Came here for brunch which is specifically weekends only. All tables were perfectly spaced out. For lunch, we ordered the hexagon breakfast and the eggs Benedict. So friggin good!!! I also had a coconut margarita and that was so good and refreshing. In addition, there was a pastry cart in which we got a chocolate pastry and it was divine. Just returned from the restaurant 30 minutes ago. Wanted to write this review while it's still fresh in my mind. Overall experience, terrible! Why? 1. bait and switch 2. Tasteless food 3. Terrible service 1. Ordered a bottle of champagne. Waited 10 minutes for the server to tell us the champagne we ordered was not available and she suggested a more expensive bottle instead. So we ordered the more expensive bottle of champagne instead. When they billed us, they included the original bottle of champagne we ordered as well, and then deducted the price of it as a "manager discount". Given the mood/dark lighting in the restaurant, we thought the discount was the restaurant's way of making up for the entree we complained about (see 2 below). To add insult to injury, we ended up tipping them for the "gross amount", which included the bait and switch bottle of champagne pre-discount! 2. We ordered a salad, fois gras and scallops for starters. And a steak and lamb for the main. I specifically asked for my lamb to be "well done" with "no pink". It came medium well with lots of pink. I sent it back to be cooked further. I got attitude from the female manager. It came back more cooked but still pink. My wife suggested I close my eyes and just eat it. The server "Mariana" asked us how our food was and I was honest about my entree. She apologized and asked if we wanted to order another entree instead. At no point did they offer to comp us for another entree. In any event, I politely declined another entree. So when I saw the "discount" applied to the bill (see 1 above), I incorrectly assumed it was due to them messing up my entree. They didn't even offer us a complimentary dessert! Other than the scallops, everything else was tasteless. They are big on presentation, short on flavour/taste ("all sizzle, no steak" as the saying goes). In fact my wife said she's never had a more terribly upset stomach! 3. Other than our server Mariana, the service was terrible. Both the two managers (male and female) had major attitude. Ditto the guy who poured us our champagne. Who says "here's your champagne guys" in a high end restaurant where the cover charge is $250 per person?! Bottom line: Here's $500+ and 2+ hours of my life I will never get back. Return? Definite no! read more

Hexagon, located in Oakville, is an upscale place with excellent food and first rate service. The menu has lots of creative choices ranging from ceviche to Steak. Excellent wine list and unique cocktails. They will do a tasting menu if you order ahead. We tried a number of appetizers plus a delicious halibut dish. Our steak was big enough for two and was perfectly cooked and served with a delicious sauce. The kitchen is obliging and one of the best in the GTA. The only negative is the restaurant is very very loud, and not suitable for conversation during dinner. I've been here twice and both times the noise level was sports bar at championship game loud which seriously detracts from the enjoyment of the dining. Otherwise Hexagon is a must for those who appreciate outstanding food, drink and service. read more

Heard about this popular brunch in the heart of downtown Oakville so went to give it a try. Restaurant was very nice and spacious with abundant patio seating for beautiful sunny days. We ordered a few dishes to share and was not disappointed. The chicken was glazed with very tasty sauce and meat was very tender. The smoked salmon croissant was also a good choice. The variety of pastries also was a big plus here. Prices are pretty consistent with similar dish menus in Toronto but presentation is tough to beat. However customer service needs a bit of work as the waiter(s) who served us created more confusion then benefit. A few came by during different occasions asking if we were ready but only took partial orders. Our server let us know a large party had arrived just before us and suggested avoiding certain menu items as there would be quite a wait. The food was as good as the service (very heavy on the butter as expected of a French restaurant). Wonderfully seasoned fries/potato wedges. No need for additional ketchup/dipping sauce. 4.5 stars... Food is perfect and normally I'd give Hexagon a 5 star if not for a service blip at the end. I'll probably return for dinner. Maybe not as quickly when I first started my brunch but worthwhile for sure. I can't express my surprise at Hexagon... the calibre of the restaurant is normal for any large metropolitan. And yet here we are, in the heart of Oakville, with a place that changes every perception of what a 905 restaurant can be. It's not to say a suburban GTA restaurant can't be refined, excel at gorgeous plating, bring out amazing flavours from ingredients, or have a beautiful atmosphere ... it's just not done. Till Hexagon. As mentioned, the restaurant is beautiful. The lobby area splits off into the dining space and their cafe which has gorgeous pastries and specialty coffees. The cafe does have a few bar seats by the window so it's not only take out option if you just wish to relax. The dining space is open to the kitchen and the attention to detail is noticeable immediately. The statement wall where it has agate slices mounted just draws your eyes immediately. The amazing gem like minerals just takes all the natural sunlight and brings the wall to life. The rest of the room is designed with dark azure blue leathers, burnished slate metals, and dark marble table tops... it's one of the nicer restaurants I've stepped into in Toronto and GTA. Hexagon shaped lighting and hexagon shapes are found in the details everywhere. The floating fire pit is another interesting room focus. Service here is subtle and attentive. It's not stuffy and they do try to make a connection as they help with the menu. I appreciate how all servers are helpful regardless who is the primary server. It makes for a flawless experience...till the end (more on this later). Brunch menu is similar to most upper end Toronto restaurants... except Hexagon quality surpasses. You can find everything from a regular big brunch (egg Benedict), sweet offerings (french toast), and healthier options (salads). Though the menu reads like a regular dish, expect the dish to have a wonderful twist to elevate it. Also, their tea offering is the famed Kusmi tea. Definitely appreciated as it has a better flavour than most other brands. Pain Perdu (French Toast) - After trying probably every french toast in Toronto, Hexagon's version is near to the top. It's so indulgent that it almost feels like dessert. Instead of a slab of bread dipped in custard, it's torn pieces of bread layered into a bread pudding ... baked, cut into a perfect rectangle, and then seared crisp. It's the perfect custard and not too sweet. It's accompanied by sweetened ricotta, berry jam, and bourbon maple syrup. 5+/5 Beef Cheek Hash - Beautifully plated tender beef cheek sits on top of a medley of potatoes, sun dried tomatoes, oyster mushrooms, and the most perfect poached egg. The tastes just matches the appearance. The beef is rich and savoury and if you pierce through the egg, the yolk just coats everything in a golden sheen. The bright & tart sun dried tomato flavour is a nice pairing to the beef. My only wish for this dish is to have the potato to be crispy... they looked crispy but they were just soft. It would have been a great contrast to the tender beef. 4.5/5 Almond Croissant - Hexagon also does viennoisorie and wow, do they ever do it well. This was delicious. The crispy shell just unleashes shards of buttery croissant pieces as you bite through. The almond pastry cream (?) was delicious. It's one of the better almond croissants I've had in a long long time. 5/5 Banana Custard Tart - Hexagon tempts your will by wheeling out the full display of all the amazing desserts on a cart to your table. How can I say no to amazing desserts? Vanilla beans flecked in creamy custard, held in buttery shortbread crust, and topped with bruleed bananas. It was very delicious. 5/5 So about this service blip... normally once I'm done with a meal, I like to wrap it up and explore. With downtown Oakville, it's ... limited. So we spent time chatting afterwards and aware that the restaurant was about half full. So we weren't thinking we would be rushed out before their brunch service was closed. Well, after our coffee was done... the wait staff dropped off the bill without our asking. Brunch service still had an hour before it closed. He then returned within a minute with the card payment machine... to emphasize we needed to leave... now. No prior mention that they needed the table or that they hate to rush us and we had a time limit. It just felt too pushy... especially when it is a forced abrupt voiceless action from the staff. Did we need to stay? No... but it could have been handled much better from them. Overall, incredibly food in an amazing space and tastes that normally is reserved for the very best spots in downtown Toronto. Got the carte blanche menu for my birthday and was disappointed that the cool dishes like the thing served.on the antlers, the prawn hot dogs in the treasure chest, and more of the tweezer delicate dishes were not served at all. The menu I was served was uninspiring, bland, salty. Not what I had envisioned, it was lacking inspiration, complexity, components. The wine pairings were basic at best. Service was clumsy, our waiter couldn't remember what he brought us, the cutlery tossed on the table. He forgot our wine pairings until AFTER we finished our course. For the class that this restaurant strives to be they lack in reaching the level of standards 4 and 5 star restaurants have. The service needs to be meticulous, silent, consistant, present, and always anticipating the next step. The food needs to live up to the standard guests expect. When they post dainty and delicate dishes on their Instagram, I expect to be served the same type of dishes. The food was so heavily salted it was distasteful. There were no surprising elements to any of the dishes. The carte blanche is suppose to be 9 courses but we only got served 7 courses. I dont include amouse bouche or bread as a dish. Also no palette cleansers between courses at any point?? Odd. Wine pairing included a basic vermouth and rum. None of the pairings brought out anything special to the dish. Overall Hexagon is good food but not the tasting menu restaurant they depict themselves to be. Excited about having a French restaurant downtown Oakville! We made a reservation a week prior on their website which sends you to Tock. You need to reserve with your credit card and deposit $30 pp. Some of the high end restaurants seem to be doing that these days to counter fickle diners who make multiple reservations and no show their least desired pick. Amazing experience from start to finish. Well executed service that is friendly but not stuffy, and prompt (lots of changing of cutlery). They describe each dish for you. With the music and being soft spoke it was hard to always hear what they said. The 9 course meal was a 2.5 hour food adventure that challenged and excited my palate with different textures (fluffy gnocchi, pop rock sorbet, crispy duck skin) and wonderful tastes. I've walked by this restaurant so many times and had no idea. I thought the restaurant is a continuation of the Thai place next door in the square. We made a reservation for 2 with a deposit ahead of time. Like the other reviews mentioned, the restaurant decor is beautiful with simple geometrics. Service was super attentive. Even though they were training some staff at the time, they were great. I had the 4 course dinner. Everything tasted phenomenal and the presentation was beautiful. A true 'Michelin Star'like experience, starting from greeting to the table, including the creative amazingly delicious food options and wine pairing. A perfect place for special occasions. If you feel like splurging, go for carte blanche tasting menu and pair it with wine and cocktails. I recommend the octopus entree for dinner, as well as the hot dogs made of prawns. For brunch menu, I enjoyed the frisée salad made with fresh micro greens and poached eggs. My husband loved the meaty hearty eggs Benedict that was served with asparagus and pork belly. The deserts are delicious. They use a lot of flavored custard and nice and smooth fruity flavors. I recommend the citrusy ones. My favorite coffee is honey butter; it is made with whipped butter and honey, very creamy texture and so much taste to enjoy it! read more

Having been open for 2 months or so, Hexagon is already attracting quite a following with Executive Chef Sean McDonald at the helm and Rafa Covarrubias as sous chef. The exterior of the restaurant is so plain that you would be forgiven mistaking it for a residential entrance. The dimly lit dining room was modern with a gorgeous hanging fireplace at the back and beautiful hexagon shaped lights on the ceiling. For this visit, we opted for the 4-course tasting menu ($60), with some cocktails to start our evening. The pine nut old fashioned was of a respectable calibur, but nothing to write home about, as were the other cocktails my companions ordered. Our server started us off with some pain au lait, which were absolutely delicious. Having had the pain au lait at Alo (considered a course there!), I would say this pain au lait is better. There was a nice denseness to it, and it was a joy to eat with the butter provided. We all chose the Charred Octopus as our first course - beautifully plated with splashes of "ink" salsa negra, sweet teardrop peppers, avocado mousse, fresh coriander and 2 tentacles. This came with 2 squid ink corn tortillas - one to make tacos out of the dish, and the other to clean the sauce off the plate with. I thought the flavours were interesting, especially with the teardrop peppers. The charred octopus on the other hand could have been more tender. A good start nonetheless. For the second course, I opted for the pork belly, and my companions the Truffle Shallot Agnolotti, and the Foie Gras. Pork belly was tender, jucy and flavourful but I immediately regretted getting it upon tasting the other two dishes. The Agnolotti was little heavenly pillows with delicious truffle mascapone bursting out upon biting. The foie gras was perhaps the best foie gras mousse I have tasted, accompanied by Montreal style mulberry & poppyseed bagels. Beef Cheeks with salt cured & cold smoked rainbow carrot, accompanied by a beef & carrot juice emulsion was a respectable main course. However it paled in comparison with the dry-aged pan seared Duck Breast, with a cube of duck confit on the side, cabbage and fermented black garlic sauce - absolutely delicious The highlight of our evening was undoubtely the dessert, The Hexagon Pinata. The presentation was striking - with a white Chocolate pinata (encasing Dulcey chocolate pearls) hanging over a bowl with Swiss-style Meringue and blackened banana icecream. We were asked to break the pinata with a spoon which made a satisfying crack. The taste of the dessert was phenomenal and this dish alone was well worth the visit. Overall, I would say Hexagon can easily make the top 5 restaurant list in the GTA and I would highly recommend a visit here. read more

This place moved up quick and with an odd Costco trip in the middle of the week this place was a no brainer. I rarely come to Oakville and last trip was eons ago to a touristy place. The pics don't do justice to the setup of this establishment as its done very well. Lots of symmetry and Hexagon shapes where it suits, good for people who admire this sort of thing. For moi the amazing part was the open kitchen (two sides wide open) and the place didn't have a hint of food smell. Bravo for achieving this rare exhaust magic where the smells from an open kitchen didn't permeate into the dinning space as we were seated almost next to a prep space. I didn't get the idea of not having a sign outside restaurant though as we had to look for the address to find the place. A personal quirk perhaps? They do require a non refundable deposit for evening service which is fine IMO though one could have walked in on a weekday from the crowd I saw late in the evening. The service aims to please from the get go and is quite courteous though there are some gaps (more on those later) I had gone through the menu already so had picked out what I wanted. Here is a play by play Octopus: Top marks here. Hit it out of the park from the start. Gorgeously grilled on charcoal yet perfectly tender and interesting sauces on the side where one senses the heat from the sauce yet no bite. Squid ink tortillas were OK. Foie Torchon: Served with house baked brioche and with cashew and rhubarb compote. I luv my foie gras this was a decent take on this luxurious dish. Brioche was good. Beef Tenderloin: Cooked rare. Meat was tender and I enjoyed the sauces on the side. Charred artichoke was quite good and even overshadowed the beef which is a pleasant change. Pinata: Hmm more of a gimmick IMO. I had very high expectations here hence felt a bit of a let down. I guess its really hard to elevate a creme brulee as there is only so much one can do. The white chocolate pinata stood out. I tried the rhubarb & almond dessert which was a better option. I tried a glass of pinot noir which paired well with the foie and steak. Now for the service while I understand they were quite courteous from the get go there were some gaps in between including a couple of reminder that gratuity should be on the total and not the amount payable on the bill with the adjustment for the reservation deposit! We did get a freebie dessert to take home which is appreciated. At this price point I don't think one is allowed to have lapses of any kind. 4 Stars though I am intrigued by their brunch offering so might revisit to try that out. read more

The weather is so nice that we were looking for a nice place with patio or rooftop for lunch. So, I was recommended to try this restaurant. I made an reservation online but was hoping to call them to check and see if I can be seated at the patio. However, I tried to call them a few time but no one ever pick up the phone. It is my first time going to a restaurant in Oakville and this place is located on Lakeshore and I guess this is their main street. Keep in mind there is construction on Lakeshore where you will need to go to the side street to find parking. When we arrived at around 1pm on a Sunday, the place is not full and we were able to be seated at the patio. The patio was very lovely and comfy. I would recommend to be seated there for brunch. In terms of the menu, they have a good selection of drinks and the brunch menu is normal with regular item you can find for brunch. We ordered chicken waffle; the chicken is amazing but the waffles seemed to be on the soggy side. We also ordered the smoked duck confit benny and smoked salmon benny on a croissant. The hollandais sauce was perfectly made and the benny eggs were cook perfectly! Well done on that! If you want something simple, I recommended getting the croissant, it is buttery and yummy! The reason why I gave 4 stars is because I find the staff was not very friendly and welcoming. We wasn't sure who was our server and no one introduced themselves. They told one person drink order and left while the rest of us looked confused. However, I was told the staff at night is much better, so I definitely want to go back to try their dinner tasting menu. read more

We celebrated our 9th anniversary by trying the 9 course tasting menu. And overall I'd say it was a great night. Food, ambiance and service were all very good and worth the price. I love the open concept of the whole place. But I would strongly recommend asking to sit on the patio. It looked amazing. We were seated near the open concept kitchen. Which was not bad at all. But the patio would be better for people watching I think. There were minor hiccups. The drink we ordered was not chilled so we had to wait for that. But they offered a complimentary alternative while we waited. So not too bad. Each course took some time to get to us. But not too long that we felt it. Or that we were starving. We did not leave hungry. Even if each portion was small and I was left wanting more after each one, just to keep the flavour going. 9 courses is a lot of food. And that does not include the amuse bouche at the start or palate cleanser before dessert and a bonus macaron at the end. They were also very good about catering the menu to our food preferences. I asked that we not receive anything with pork. And they obliged. At the end all the chefs in the kitchen signed the menu for us to keep and the head chef came over to ask how everything was. The most memorable is the piñata dessert of course. But also the charred octopus appetizer. And duck main dish. But it really is hard to pick a favourite. All were great. I think we will go back for brunch just to give that a try. But I do recommend this if you are looking to be pampered and money is no object. You won't be disappointed. read more

This is a fantastic new restaurant in Oakville and probably the best restaurant on the west side of town. The octopus was incredible, perfectly smoked and sauces done delicately. Mains of duck and fish were perfect and balanced. I would rate this restaurant at or above Alo in Toronto. Definitely get a table by the fireplace and the service and servers were great. Dec 21 22. Went for dinner with friends who made the reservations, neither of us have been here before. When we asked for menus they said we had to do taster menu. After looking at taster menu we said we didn't want this , that we didn't like the food offered on taster menu, we wanted to order from the menu we saw online when we booked. we asked them to ask manager and were told we could not order from menu . We did not enjoy any of the food, and the bill for 2 couples was $ 989.00, with only 4 glasses of wine. Completely un happy, could not recommend , and the price was astronomical, not sure how you could even get to this price. read more

Dinner 4 course dinner at 60CAD pp Food: 4/5 (Good, but not a spectacular meal). Service: 4/5 (friendly, helpful and unpretentious, but needed some prompting e.g. water, though they did indulge us w/an extra helping of bread) Value: 4-4.5/5 given we were full (and I can eat a bird in a sitting) and some of the flare associated w/how it was plated. But not cheap. Tips: make a reso in advance. if you miss your reso you lose 30$ pp deposit. So don't. There is a smaller bar menu than Alo Bar and like Bar Alo reso is not needed for it. Though Bar Alo has a dedicated space for its bar, this place has a few chairs at the bar. Saw their cafe (don't know operational hrs, closed during dinner) that is tucked away. No corkage. Repeat: Perhaps Final word, is this the next Alo? Well after eating at Bar Alo (food comes from the same kitchen), I don't think Alo merits any hype, leave alone wondering if it might qualify for a Michelin star (not that star=yummy food always). This place is good, but it's no next anything other than another good resto in the GTA that might merit a drive from TO and more so if you're already in/passing the area. read more
