I went in for a simple NY State inspection and was immediately told that I needed a new battery because it was "low" and could potentially spark, along with new brake pads. I was told that if I didn't replace these items, my car would not pass inspection. Then came the shocking part: I was quoted approximately $1,300, including a "lifetime warranty." I questioned the situation because the battery is not part of the NY State safety inspection, yet I was being pressured to spend a significant amount of money. Instead of agreeing, I took my car to another inspection facility the SAME DAY. Guess what? My car PASSED inspection with no problem! No $1,300 repair. No emergency. No issue preventing it from passing. This experience made me feel that I was being pressured into unnecessary repairs and that the inspection was being used as an opportunity to sell expensive services. PLEASE GET A SECOND OPINION before authorizing expensive repairs here. My experience was a huge red flag, and I will absolutely NOT be returning to this Mavis location.
