My family has been going to Bert's for years. The professional manner, the team and Bert himself. Have always been a positive environment. Great place to get your car repairs done, on time service. read more

I've been going to Bert's since 2004 (exclusively), and have sent dozens of people over there - it is exceedingly difficult to find a decent mechanic who wont' rip you off, and even more difficult to find someone who talks and treats you with respect. I've taken my car there three times and told nothing was wrong, no charge (where else are you going to get that???). One (rare) time I took my car there and they put the left-sensor on, when the right sensor was the malfunctioning one - again, fixed no charge. Yes, a mechanic is going to be expensive, but taking your vehicle to someone disreputable is going to be even more expensive. Bert's has been family owned for 60+ years, and there's a reason - he takes care of his customers, AND their vehicles. read more

Stopped in without an appointment for a state inspection. Thankfully they were able to do it on the spot without the required appointment

Bert and his team are excellent! Professional, honest, and very knowledgeable. They took care of my car quickly, explained everything clearly, and the price was fair. Bert himself is kind and runs the shop with real integrity. This is now my go-to mechanic in Elmsford. Highly recommend! read more

Bert was a life saver for me one late Saturday afternoon when I caught a flat tire. I was not able to change the tire on my own and was definitely pressed for time. The shop is conveniently on Main Street, near the highway exit I was initially stranded on. Bert changed my tire quickly and solved a rim spacing issue I had on the wheel. I highly recommend dealing with this courteous, professional, and efficient repair shop. Best in town!! Thank you Bert! - Tori read more

Bert's Motor Works - Auto Repair Near Me - Elmsford, New York

Jimmy just started working there, was my service guy in thornwood, never a problem and very fair

I had an altercation with a deer and needed to repair my back door. I took my car to another shop and was given an outrageous estimate of 2,000 dollars. I went to Bert's to see if they could do the repair or if the original estimate was reasonable. They repaired the car for under 200 dollars. Very honest and trustworthy. I highly recommend the shop. read more

Bert replaced my alternator which was the source of my battery dying twice in two weeks. Now the car runs fine. He also identified the source of my check oil light going on all the time although the oil was fine. Turns out it was a fried wire on the sensor. Bert's a straight shooter. Tells you what your dealing with. What it will cost. And whether or not it is critical or option to address it. Good shop have been there twice. read more

Took the car in for a check engine light, told them the car was shaking during idle. They told me its the radiator which would cost $850 to fix? Really? I took it down the street and it was the engine mounts. Cost me $250 to fix. Either they just have outrageous pricing or they are don't know much about cars. read more

I took my car here for the NY Annual Inspection. The car was put on the lift and quickly, I was told that I needed a major front end repair and would not pass inspection. I told them to take the car down and I drove out of there. Who knows what else they would have "found" that needed "repair" had it continued. The mandatory inspection is an invitation for shops to lie, cheat and steal. I took my car to another shop where it passed Inspection with no problems. read more

Bert is my go to mechanic. Any problem I've taken my car to him for has been taken care of in a timely fashion. They always call me to give me a quote before starting work and the price is always fair. I have used dealerships before and have NEVER received the same service or satisfaction. The service is small town trustworthiness. I can't recommend this business enough! read more

I had to bring my dad's car to get inspected. Not only that they told me that they will need to change the light right away so it could pass but they also didn't tell me that they will charge me the inspection fee wven if it failed. So 70usd for just a broken light and failed inspection. read more

I stumbled upon Bert's 6 years ago as a recommendation of a shop who would accept engine oil to be recycled. I do my own work on my cars. I'm a nerd. I enjoy it. Having said that, this is the ONE shop with whom I've dealt in the 20+ years I've lived in Westchester that gave me total confidence if I didn't have the time or tools to do the job myself. Kyle is professional, honest, realistic (with their estimates and your time...when they are too busy, they will tell you so you don't sit there and wait forever) and most-important... really good at what he does. It spoke volumes that they had a 911 GT3 RS (997) on their alignment rack when I went the first time. They do the alignment work for Rennwerke Porsche around the corner. That's VERY impressive. read more

Good Afternoon, I dropped off my car because it was making a loud noise, and according to you, I received two quotes, which identified the problem as the catalytic converter needing to be changed, which resulted in two options, either go with Quote#1 Estimated cost of almost $5000.00 or Quote#2 Estimated cost of $3000.00- after picking up my car, and taking it to 3 other Professional mechanics, I was able to fix my car for $187.91 @ Meineke car care, the Hardware and gasket rear converter, Gasket spring kit and labor all included. None of the 3 other auto shops, I visited agreed with your quote and in fact were SHOCKED as I was that your shop is providing false quotes to your clients. The fact that I paid $96.00 due to your suppose "computer test" on my car, is a loss on my end. However, I wish you and your malicious company all the best, and I will pray for all your souls not to go to hell for being thieves and liars. You all should be ashamed to call yourselves mechanics and truly give hard working honest men a bad name. I will make sure to spread the word. I do NOT RECOMMEND ANY WOMAN TO GO TO THIS SEXIST PLACE--WARNING THEY WILL TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU! MAKE SURE TO ALWAYS GO FOR A 2ND OR EVEN 3RD OPINION! read more

My place to go for everything. Really appreciate Kyle's honesty. After I moved it was tough finding a new place to go. But luckily found this place. I won't go anywhere else now! Very convenient. I go here for simple inspection to any mechanical repair. Also they have a clean fresh smelling shop to wait in unlike some places where it's dank smells like exhaust or cigarettes. read more

Super quick, convenient, nice, and helpful! I called asking if they did NY State Inspection. Was only 7 minutes away and they said they'd have room for us. When I arrived, they took the car back right away, 10 minutes later I was on the road! The guy at the front desk was very helpful and extremely nice as well. read more

This is where I take my late 90's Ford Explorer for service and maintenance. Kyle and the staff are professionals and treat their customers with respect with a friendly smile. This is not your typical fast talkers and hustlers you may encounter in many auto repair shop. The minute you walk into the shop you will know immediately you are dealing with pros. read more

I brought my car to Bert to fix a leak. He said he put in a new power steering hose and charged me $645.00. The next week i brought the car back still leaking and he tells me I need to clean the engine before he can find it. Wish he said that before he charged me $645.00 for nothing. read more

Kyle and the crew are super-professional, honest and easy to work with. I won't use anyone else.

Kyle and the gang are consummate professionals. Kyle never steers you wrong and will give you a fair and honest estimate. I am a gear head and really care about my car, I do not trust anyone but me fixing my girl (2006 dodge magnum R/T), but for things I cannot do myself, I take to a professional. I came to them after going to the dealer being handed a $2000 estimate (I knew my car well enough to know that's an unreal estimate), I let Kyle and the crew know my situation, they took a look at it and said it only needed an $80 alignment. Rode like a dream after that. I am not saying that his shop is "cheap". They do good work and you will pay for the expertise. But they will not rip you off. Kyle is unbelievable in the things he knows about vehicles, but if he doesn't know, he will find out or send you to a reputable person who does. It is refreshing to find a place like this. great shop. read more

Had a great experience. My car almost didn't start and I didn't know whether it was a battery or starter. Went to Bert's they were very busy, said to come back in an hour. Went back in an hour took a test of my battery and it failed. Replaced the battery within an hour and I was on my way. Seems like a great place. Every customer who came in while I was there seemed very happy and was on a first named basis with Bert. I will be returning. read more

Everyone at Bert's was beyond helpful. They gave me honest feedback as to what was wrong with my car and did not try to push work that did not need to be done. read more

Bert's was recommended by a co-worker when we moved to Elmsford 2 years ago and every interaction has been great. They don't look for something to fix, only doing what is needed. I echo the others comments that Kyle and his gang are tops. read more

Stopped by here on a whim after calling around to get a quote on a cat-back installation, was straight forward and honest with me right off the bat. Set me up for an appointment the next day and I was in and out in less than an hour. Kyle was very professional and you could immediately tell he knows all there is to know. They've got a new customer. read more

Bert and Kyle are completely honest and do great work. I would not go anywhere else! I have been using their services for 15 years.

Not really a car person but Bert is honest and will not cheat you out of anything. Will always come back to him regardless of where I live.

Your car will get fixed but i promise you that it will cost you an arm and a leg. If the parts are $1000 the labor will be equal. The most expensive mechanic around. The most expensive quote i got out of 4 top mechanics in westchester. Kyle is good but at his labor rates the service should include a prosthetic arm and leg to replace the ones they chop. Shop around.... read more
