I went here because I heard the tools are great quality. The wait took 4 hours. The actual repair took 3 hours tops. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called ahead to make sure that they could fix my motorcycle. Over the phone they said yes but when I got there to pick my bike up they said they couldn't fix it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I did it myself at home instead (I needed a new tire. I requested service on my Palisades drivers assist system from anthony The service advisor and never received the service. He told me that the car wasn't attended tested on the highway and the app which tracks the cars GPS shows that the car never moved. He swore that it was tested. I came to Sals to have my struts replaced. My old Honda CR-V was serviced at Sals, and they did a fantastic job! Prior to getting it serviced, there was a clunking noise and the ride was very bumpy, especially over pot holes. Now when I drive it, the sound is gone, and it's the smoothest ride ever! Sals also identified a leaking rubber piece as well as an issue with my engine mount which they replaced; I otherwise would have never known. They got the entire job done in less than 2 business days so turnaround was terrific. I formerly left a five-star review for this shop and even recommended it to others in the area. No longer. Sal's just replaced a leaky radiator and hoses in my wife's old but low-miles Lexus. Sal's charged dealership rates for this service ($1,900!), but I had the service done there because I've never had a problem in six years of taking both of our cars there. After radiator replacement in the Lexus, it immediately began making frequent crackling, gurgling, and gushing sounds, indicating that the sealed coolant system was not properly bled--a situation that can lead to problems including no cabin heat and, ultimately, engine damage. In this Lexus, the sound will not go away on its own, as it will in some older cars. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went back immediately (second visit). Joe rode with me in the car. The sound was present but not loud, and he dismissed my concern.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The noise became more noticeable the evening after radiator replacement, so I took it back to Sal's over an hour before opening the following morning (third visit) so that the car would have time to cool off before having coolant bled. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was first told by Joe that I was "too sensitive." Then, somewhat confusingly, he berated his employees in front of me for doing bad work.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then we went for a ride, and I showed him the gurgling sound - air in the system. The coolant needed to be bled again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Joe gave me some gobbledygook about laminar flow fluids and air trapped in the system, checked the coolant level under the hood, and sent me on my way.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]My wife heard the sound a short time later. It was unmistakable and frequent. She called Sal's herself and was yelled at on the phone by Joe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then she took the car there (fourth visit). Joe told her that the car was too warm to bleed the coolant again and sent her on her way. She drove home, heard the gurgling sound loudly, and called Sal's again to ask them if they could try (one last time) to fix it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Joe told her that the sound was normal (it's not normal in this car, as one can verify in 30 seconds with Google!) and dismissed her.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We are done with Sal's. They took a lot of money for substandard work. We will be taking the car to another shop to pay to have the coolant bled properly and to confirm that Sal's installed the promised new Denso radiator and not a cheaper part. read more

I had an oil change on 12/23 my oil change light came on within a few days after getting an oil change here. I went to get an oil change some where else and found out my car was dry. I once had a 1999 BMW 3 series (which I don't own any more). I had an issue with my AC blowing air at different temperatures from different vents ie cool on the passenger and warm on the driver's side. The guys at SL's Auto claimed they fixed the problem by replacing a hose adjacent to the AC compressor. The following year, I had the same issue. I'll never go back there again. I'm not sure they know what they're doing. It's been a while back since I had that experience with them but I'll never forget. read more

We've used this place for many years my mother was very fond of them. They are expensive but they give very good service and they really are very thorough and they care. The difference I think is that nothing falls through the cracks there and it's very well run the shop is very neat even though it's very busy and it's a family business that's still in the family. You always have a sense when you go there that everything is under control and everything is getting taken care of. They can be somewhat delayed in finishing or in getting to you or in coming to pick up a car but they always come through. And they were wonderful about coming to the house and picking up the car and dropping the car off which was really helpful for our family. The difference between using this shop and other shops is simply the level of service. You pay more but you get much better service. read more

They replaced both wheel bearing (backside) of my car. They where friendly when they did it, it's pricey but I didn't mind because I had to have it replaced. Just after a month or two, one of the wheel bearing is doing the same issue and I went to two other auto shops and they confirm that is the issue. Went back to SALS and guess what, THEY DO NOT WANT TO FIX IT AND BECAME SO DISRESPECTFUL. Their attitude is so awful. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOP. read more

I was looking to purchase a car from a local dealership in Scarsdale and was hoping to have a pre-purchase inspection. I live in Nashville and didn't have the ability to see the car prior to the purchase, so this pre-inspection was VITAL. My fiancé (who is currently deployed in Afghanistan) talked to the one of the owner's at Sal's, who said they would go and pick the car up from the dealership and would gladly take a look at the car and let us know what kind of condition it was in. When I called to schedule the pre-inspection, not only did the other owner tell me he wouldn't pick it up, he refused to offer me service at all and HUNG UP on me. He didn't bother to check with the other owner and was incredibly rude. I'm pro-small business, but BOO on this one. read more

My wife went to this shop, on a recommendation from her mother, last week for an oil change. They were professional and courteous, she says. I instructed her to ask for 10w40 oil, which is not usually standard, but is better for cars with higher mileage (such as our 2003 Honda CR-V with 155K.) They complied. They also listed several other items that needed repair, which we declined at the time and will review later. The shock came when she came home and showed me the bill. It was not a usual $30-40 charge for a simple oil change, plus perhaps a small upcharge for the oil... it was $66 +tax, because they used SYNTHETIC oil at $9.50/qt, plus a separate charge for an oil filter, plus $10 for labor. My wife does not even know what synthetic oil is and would not ask for such an expensive proposition. I feel that she was taken advantage of. Three stars because, well, they did perform the oil change. But at an inflated price. The experience just rubs me the wrong way. read more

Sal's Auto is Fantastic!! I went in to get a flat tire. As I walked in the place was busy... cars on lifts and everybody working. I was immediately attended to, and even though my job was a small deal, I was taken cared of immediately. I was literally in and out in 15 minutes!!! Unheard of these days. The customer service is phenomenal and these brothers got it right. They have gained me as life long new customer, and I will recommend them to all of my friends! I've gone to this autobody shop 3 times now and each time they surpassed my expectations. First time I saw a nail in my tire and brought it for repair. They checked it on the spot, the nail was superficial and didn't cause a air leak. They didn't charge me a dime and I was done within 15 mins. And each following time I never made an appointment and they were always able to get to my car within 15 mins and I was out the door within 30 mins. I'm not a car expert myself and haven't had major work done there so I can't vouch for their skills but they are definitely friendly and their prices are reasonable.
