I have only started with this auto repair place in the last year, based on a recommendation from a friend. They are the real deal--this is a completely family run business and they treat each and every customer with respect and honesty. I am used to going to mechanics who make you feel dumb if you don't understand something or want it explained. At JC Auto Repair everyone is always friendly and willing to answer any questions in detail. You can also trust them, they have told me when I did not need certain repairs although Mavis told me I needed many expensive items. Their prices are fair, and even if an item or two could be slightly more expensive, it is 100% worth it., and absolutely worth the piece of mind that they are doing it right the first time. John the owner is amazing-he is super friendly and takes pride in the work they do-he has been a mechanic for over 50 yrs! Over the years I have tried many mechanics and generally they are in it for the money and could actually care less about their customers. Even when calling and talking to the office staff (daughter of the family) they are so kind and patient, and at times I was calling multiple times to get clarification on a service I need etc. It is so refreshing to find a mechanic that is honest, ethical and appreciates your business, and offers amazing customer service. Stay away from this loud mouthed, overpriced crook! My car was scratched, the owner said nothing until I pointed it out. He then screamed at me, saying that he did not do and had a video of the car... only when we watched the video, there was no scratch, he admitted he was wrong, but acted like a jerk about it. The work he did was wayyyyyy overpriced, and he tried to sell me a battery I didn't need (I had bought a new one shortly prior, so I knew he was lying and just trying to sell off his stock of aging car batteries). However, when I went to pick up the car, the battery was installed despite my instructions to not change it. He also ruined my convertible top, but refused to fix it. This man (and everyone else that works there) is a liar, a cheat and a dishonorable businessman. He even tried to charge me some ridiculous storage charge after he told me that he had to order a part... he never informed me of any storage charge prior... I would've taken the car home had I known that, but I bet he was just trying to recoup what he had to pay when he had to fix the scratch on my car. Horrible experience. read more

Top flight mechanics. They do the job right. Have used them since 2014. I have suggested repairs which they told me I did not yet need. I have spoken to other customers in their waiting room who have used them for decades. Some even wait until they return from Florida to have their cars worked on at JC who they trust. This is the place if you value your car and want the job, big or small, done right. I just had a huge suspension and subframe job done which took a week but if you saw how many parts absolutely obviously needed replacement you would know why. Good people. read more

Was advised to hold off on replacing my brake pads as the owner thought I'd get a couple thousand more miles out of them. On a separate visit, they fit me in on short notice just before closing to fix a flat. I wish I new about this place earlier. read more

J.C Auto is one of the most ethical and most professional auto mechanic businesses I think exists anywhere! Over the last twenty years, John Casale and his staff have worked on my cars as well as my adult children's' automobiles and we have felt safer and more confident driving as a result of their workmanship. About a year ago, one of my daughter's who now lives in San Francisco and took her Toyota in for an estimate, called and asked if John could look over the suggested itemized list of repairs. When John saw the estimate he urged me to have my daughter wait until he could find a reputable mechanic in San Fransisco! He reached out to a few of his customers who have businesses in California and gave me a list of a few mechanics that he vetted in the San Francisco area! My daughter ended up saving a few thousand dollars on unnecessary repairs and even though the owner ofJ.C.Auto didn't make a dime, he felt good, knowing he had helped his customer avoid being scammed! I love this place. They have worked on all our family cars for ages but they go above and beyond and are so super nice. I had a freak accident happen to my Fiat, 3 days before my wedding and they were so flexible and accommodating to make things as easy on me as possible (as they always are) but this time it felt especially kind. I have been to several mechanics for my Land Rover, including two Land Rover specialty shops, and none approach the professionalism of JC Auto. They are the best mechanics I have ever dealt with. I do wish that they would accept parts I buy instead of having to pay markup on the parts they supply for the repair, but I understand that that is what many shops do to remain profitable and maintain quality. Overall though, if I can't fix it on my own, it goes to JC Auto. read more

Too bad we can't give them 6 stars. These guys are the best! Been going there for years. Spend a morning in their waiting room. Talk to all their satisfied customers. Listen to customers who have been ripped off in the city and now take a morning or day off work to travel from Manhattan to Scarsdale to have their repairs done right. Or how about the snow birds who can't find a decent repair shop in Florida and wait until they get back to where mechanics care about their work at JC to have repairs done. Or how about the students who know they will get a fair price and come back from college to have these guys do the work. Or look at the cars in the garage and tell me some of the coolest cars you've ever seen would take their cars here if the work was not top flight. You can't go wrong with these guys. JC Auto the only place to get your car repairs done right the first time and for a fair price. You might have that rare occasion where a microscopic leak can't be detected on the very 1st visit but tell me anyone who is 100% perfect all the time. Terrible experience. Went there for a simple repair. Got a call from the owner, John, who told me the car needed to stay longer. He was EXTREMELY rude for no apparent reason. Told me I showed up a day late for my appointment which was incorrect. I changed my appointment with the women who works there but I guess she never told anyone. No reason for an owner to treat customers this way. My husband went to pick up the car at 5:15 and it still wasn't ready. Car was there from 8:30 am. Worst service. read more

The folks at JC Auto are terrific. I have had them service a 2002 Saab, a 2002 BMW and a 2006 Volvo. They are much more responsive than the local dealership service centers for all three of those brands and, for post-warranty repair, dramatically less expensive. They never double-bill for time (a perennial problem at the official dealerships when I had multiple repairs done on one visit), their rates are reasonable and they have a very good sense of what repairs are worth taking care of right away and which should be deferred. read more

My extended family has used the JC shop since 1978. 12 different drivers. Dozens of vehicles over the years. Litle jobs like inspections or programming a key fob. Big jobs - new engines, new transmissions, new dashboard. We have always been very happy. John truly cares about his customers. He makes it easy to do business with the shop. Reader beware. Some of the previous ratings are "funny". Interpret them as you wish. I have been a customer of JC Auto for about 25 years. They are not the lowest price provider out there. But, I haven't seen Old World service like this anywhere else. I have entrusted about 6 cars to them over the years. The proprietor, John, is a true mensch whom I trust implicitly. I cannot compare this business to lots of other independent car repair businesses for you. But, this outfit is head and shoulders above any dealer I have had to use. They treat you with respect. They patiently explain what is going on. And, they fix your car right the first time. Ever take a car in to a dealer? How many visits where you have to take off from work do you have to make before the car is fixed. John's family is actively engaged in the business.
