After…read morecontemplating several alternatives for our home we chose to work with Dillman & Upton primarily considering our initial experience with their designer and our perception of their team's quality Beginning with our first conversation, we believed that our designer provided sound advice and guidance, had valuable experience, was knowledgeable, considerate, thorough, and accessible for advice, suggestions and questions. The designer proved out, thankfully. Interactions with the D&U office staff were overall good. A significant surprise was the assignment of both subcontractors other than D&U's usual team. While it is impossible to directly compare our subcontractors with D&U's longstanding team, our's did not have deep, meaningful, value added experience dealing with D&U schematics, overall design and details. This required or significant involvement of our time to interpret details of the blueprint to affect the design goals. We had to call our designer and adjourn major meetings several times for reinforcement of the construction details. Requesting and requiring that some work being redone and changed to conform with a specific design specifications. We had to be our own advocate for a correct job and request repairs for damages to our home (three walls which require our own sanding, priming and repainting). Most disconcerting we had to be our own on-site project manager. A very important aspect we believe dealing with D&U would have provided. Perhaps D&U will say this is over stated and normal construction angst. However, we do not believe it was completed in good faith, as contracted and representative. It was far more tension to get what we paid for wanted or believe was appropriate. In retrospect we believe that the subcontractors should've been highly versed in D&U design goals and had the ability and desire to fully comprehend blueprints and call D&U directly when necessary to discern and clarify. Is this the best craftsmanship that our community offers? Opportunity for improvement include addressing all of the above concerns. Additionally, the price, documentation and communication regarding change orders must be improved. We recognize that some contractors or self-motivated and completed high-quality work, the first time. At our projects conclusion the project, while painful several times, was mostly completed successfully.

I am glad we upgraded to the pullout drawers. The pantry is about 90" tall x 30" wide and 25" deep. The pullout drawers and large shelves on the top of the pantry are nice and deep for storage of items that aren't used as often. The pullout drawers are nice for storage of pots and pans. The cabinets were a little over a $1k.

In one paragraph they explain how "the oven is working properly but the food is not heating up." Would really like a phone call back and an explanation. The worse part of it all is that this my husband's brother's family so it's truly making us question the integrity of the people running this business.

This company uses predatory business practices. They lure you in with their reputation and their…read morefancy show room and act super professional in the beginning - but the fact is they require $550 for an in person quote, and 50% down before starting... as soon as they received my 50% down payment (you should never do this, 50% gives the corporation far too much power) all of a sudden it's like a switch is flipped and they treat you completely different. That's because they have successfully trapped you, after that all promises of high quality, timely work, and project management that is supposed to be all of high standards, given the premium price points and additional costs of this "professional" establishment, stop existing. They then higher random 3rd party contractors for the bulk of the project for the cheapest prices - while charging you top dollar. They don't hold them accountable, and they don't care. You will have to beg to get them to show up, and beg for them to come back when round 1 ends up being such low quality work that you'll need a re-do. They do this on purpose because a lot of people want to avoid the headache and will accept the low quality work. Avoid this corporate nightmare, they deliberately will try to cut corners on you, they force you to manage your own project, and ultimately you'll realize you got completely taken advantage of. The time frame for the project they present is a lie. The high quality and professionals they promise it a lie. You need to beg to get their experienced pros - they will send you random workers they find who barely know what their doing for the first round - then give you the better workers if you complain. Get ready to get on your hands and knees begging for your project to get focused on while you try to compete with 10+ other people begging for their project to get done at the same time. They over schedule and don't care because all they care about is getting you wrapped up in the predatory contract and then that's it, you're trapped. Find businesses that don't have these predatory business practices, go directly to places and work with them directly. You don't need a glorified middle man to "manage" the project for you, it's nonsense - it actually overcomplicates the project and they don't manage anything anyways, they make you become a full time project manager or things will never get done - or be such low quality that it'll appear your premium priced project was a DIY job. Then I received an email saying 8-1. They showed up at 1:15. I just got out of the hospital and needed my son to assist me at medical appointments. I called them twice during the day to just be told they are out for delivery. When the driver finally showed up he tells me was to be here early but his equipment got stuck in the mud. Extremely poor customer service. That information soul's be relayed to the customer. My son could have provided assistance to me at my medical appointments instead of waiting around from 8-1. The managers could have cared less. They just lost a long time customer who just spent almost 3k on this order.

The reason why l gave 1-star is because of the women at Warren location, to at least check to see where, stock inventory was supposed to be, also, Mennards does not honor "Veteran's" with discounts.
