Very solid Asian tapas place. All of the dumplings are amazing and the duck #2 is a must order. Classics such as edamame as well. The pork belly was very good but quite rich, a bit too much so for 2 peoples to split. The bang bang chicken sounded weird as it was cold, but glad we ordered it because it was only of my favorites. There was a 30 minute wait when we got there but it turned out to move very quickly and ended up being more like 10 minutes. Has a lot of good stuff goin for it. As others have readily acknowledged, their international bottled beer list is great -- not only that, but being able to order a tall, frosty stein of good ol' German beer is a HUGE plus, as a decent draught is a rarity in Barcelona, especially if you're not a fan of watery pilsners like Estrella Damm. Although I usually find the "here's a little pencil and a slip of paper, you do the rest" menu approach sort of annoying, it works in this kinda place: it makes it just as easy to come in and indulge in a marathon dim sum-and-drinks dinner extravaganza as it is to sit at the bar and have a beer or two -- if you're in a rush, you could be in and out in less than half an hour. The menu is simple, divided into "dim sum," "hot," "cold," and "dessert" (in Catalan, but not too difficult to figure out). All the small plates I tried were light and fresh -- certainly not run-of-the-mill Chinese fare, and a far cry from the weird vinegar-y shit that most Chinese joints in Barcelona offer up. My only complaint is that I would've loved some light tunes playing inside, but if you're sharing a meal with the right person/people that doesn't really matter -- and of course, I'll take Catalan bar chatter over American Top 40 or Gagnam Style any day. read more

This place is unbelievable. It seems to always have a queue, but just put your name on the list and grab a drink somewhere else while you wait; it's worth it! Mosquito has an incredible assortment of things on the menu-- but not overwhelmingly so! It's is one of those places where you mark down the things you want to order. Also, they have Catalan, Chinese, and English menus which were great for our mixed group. The artisanal beers are also really excellent. The roast duck (number 2) was some of the best duck I've ever had. In fact, the only ducks I could compare it to are the street food ducks I've had in Vietnam-- so basically, incredible tender and spot on flavours. The steamed belly pork was incredibly fatty, but in the best possible way. Our table had vegetable, pork, and beef dim sum-- and I think the pork and vegetable were particularly tasty. It should be noted that they have fried, boiled, and steamed dim sum, as well as more bun-type dim sum! The cucumber ajat was also so pleasantly refreshing! Overall, a few things had slightly overly salted sauces-- but I'm definitely nitpicking here. The whole experience was amazing and I can't wait to return. 8 dishes and 3 beers came to 45 euros. Really enjoyed this Asian Fusion restaurant! My husband and I had lunch here on the way to the Picasso Museum and beat the lunch crowd as we were seated right away at the bar before the place started to get packed. As we saw down we looked at the menu, it is in Spainish and Chinese, you just have to figure it out. They started a waiting list and once we were just starting to get our food there were 17 parties already on the waiting list 30 minutes after we arrived. We ordered the: Duck- AMAZING! they smoke it, then steam it, then fry it up! Then you dip it in a gravy sauce that was yummy delicious! Pho Camp- "Country" pho. Very good flavor, it was rice noodles with beef, and they give you a side dish of bean sprouts, mint leaves, and lemons that you add into your soup! Very flavorful! Side of Bok Choy stir fried- Very crunchy and fresh 2 orders of Pork wontons!- SOOO good we devoured them all! The only negative thing about this restaurant is that there was only ONE girl server running the restaurant while the mom and son were cooking in the kitchen. The wontons and dumplings are MADE TO ORDER! When you order your food, they roll it up and cook it then so it may take a little bit of time for your food to come out. Expect to wait, we were there for at least 2 hours but the food was definitely excellent! We ordered a water and 2 beers. They have a wide selection of different types of beers here. I did not think I would ever get tired of Spanish/Catalan cuisine but after over a week of mostly tapas and pintxos, a little Asian food was good for a break. Mosquito was highly rated, both on Yelp and by a few locals I spoke to. The idea of Asian/Spanish tapas (or Spanish dim sum if you prefer) sounded intriguing. I arrived around 9:45 on a Monday night and the place was packed, with several groups waiting outside. I was at first told the wait for just me would be maybe 15 minutes but then the hostess offered one of the "waiting" seats, on a high table top against the wall so I said "sure, why not?" (and I tried to avoid the glares of anger and jealousy from the folks outside). Service was so friendly and fast that I rushed to choose from the many interesting dishes. I was kind of craving a soup or noodles since it was cold outside, but the only option they had at that hour was the wonton soup. So I ordered wonton soup, smoked duck siu mai, pork and shrimp dumplings, and the chicken with lemon (as a last minute impulse). My server was a little skeptical about so many items, but I assured her I planned to take much of it to go (and chose dishes accordingly). Out of all of the items, the lemon chicken was the surprise hit for me! They grilled the chicken first before cooking it in a delicious broth with lots of lemon, ginger, and sesame oil. Once I received that dish, I broke down and ordered a bowl of rice to put it on. Everything was delicious, and the leftovers were just as tasty. Asian tapas, kind of dimsum style. It's a unique concept and it works pretty well. That said, it's suuuuuuper hard to get a table, so I'd recommend getting there at 7pm (that's when the kitchen opens at night). Food is a bit greasy, but definitely satisfying. As always, we ordered too much, but it means that I can tell you with confidence that my top choices were the dumplings, lemon chicken, and pork belly. Oh, and the Punk IPA is a great wash down. I wouldnt call this a tapas place. This is similar to what you would see in Asia (maybe not as nice, haha). I guess the tapas part is the appetizers? But the main thing are the noodle soups, YUM! They have an interesting menu because it is in Chinese, English and Catalan (I think there was English). Between the three languages I was able to figure out exactly what each food was and what to expect. The food is really good and I would recommend the dumplings. The only thing I don't like about this place is that they bring everything out at the same time instead of first bring out the appetizers and then the rest, but maybe it was because we didn't ask for it that way? The place is kind of small so it's best not to go with more than 4 people. Also, I'm not sure if you can call ahead to make reservations, but you can leave your name behind and wait in line. Probably one of the better meals I had in Spain, especially for the price. IT'S REALLY GOOD! It gets crowded fast. Get there as close to opening as possible, or you will have to wait. It's a small place, so it's probably not good to with a group of more than 5 people. It's also a good idea to come here hungry, because you will want to try everything. I went with two other people. We went hungry. We shared the crispy duck (ordered a second plate because it was so damn good), pork belly, chicken bang bang, and City Pho (the beef broth is so complex in flavor it's like a meal in one spoonful), and both types of dumplings. I'm surprised by all the five star reviews. This place is about a 3.5. We ordered fried duck, cucumber salad, bamboo shoots, ramen soup with dumplings, pork dumplings and veggie dumplings. I have been going to Mosquito about once a week for years and I love the food, their crispy duck, pho, kimchee, dumplings are all wonderful, the staff is excellent. I would rate their food 5 stars. BUT (and a big BUT) I have recently seen COCKROACHES crawling on the walls during my meal. The first time I saw one, about a month ago, I thought, ok, give it a chance, it's one cockroach in years, but the other day I saw another one. Too many roaches. Yuck. They really need to clean up their act and get rid of the roaches before I will consider returning. read more

Solid Asian food in Barcelona. Came here because I wanted something cheap for dinner as I dropped $100 on tapas and wine the night before :/ Prices were reasonable but I still wouldn't say dirt cheap for the portions. It was about 20 euros for four tapas after 10-15% tip and it was enough to be satiated for two but not really full. Won ton soup was my favorite but lacked a little salt and flavor so added juice from my side of kimchi and it was delicious. Beer is as cheap as water, guess that's most places in Spain. Asian tapas or dim sum, whatever you wanna call it, it was pretty good! I was very pleased with the quality of the food. The duck was crispy and delicious and the dumplings were exceptional. The sichuan beef was a little bland, but thankfully they had some sriracha to help solve that. The staff was very helpful, accommodating us on a busy night and in general being very available. They had the best selection of Catalunyan craft beer of any of the places I visited in Barcelona, which was something I could really appreciate being a beer lover. We loved it. Portions vary in size, but are averagely like a dim sum or " ración " size. Great to share them all. I would describe the cuisine as Asian fission, creative and casual and for a reasonable price. You can eat and spend as little or as much as you want to. But after several weeks on Spain I need my fix of comfort food and this place does the trick. Wonton soup is slightly under favored but the wontons were good. Fried duck was dry. Boy Choy and mushrooms were good and so were the roasted bamboo shoots if not a bit too salty. The place is cute, hipster central but not overly done. This was one of the worst places I ate while in Barcelona. The food was overly salted and just not very good. And the customer service was lacking. They had a sign on the door that said to please wait there (outside!) because the AC was on, but when no one took any notice of me waiting for a while, I went in. (Should have just left though.) Had a good dinner here, its mainly a dim sim or yum cha (without the food carts) restaurant. Small and cozy so if you are expecting to go as a group it would pay to make a reservation. Went here for something other than tapas or burgers and pizza. Ordered pork dumplings, pork dumpling noodle soup and beef spareribs. Drank a cava with the meal since they did not serve sangria. The spareribs came first. If u r not used to or do not like bones, forget it. This dish is not for you. However, my daughter and I love to gnaw on bones. Therefore, we had a blast. It was flavored with Chinese five spice. The meat wasn't fall off the bone and the meat wasn't so tender like Chinese spareribs from typical dim sum places, but the sauce was really good. U just need to roll the entire meat and bone in the sauce to make it moist. We used the remaining five spice sauce to eat with our pork dumplings. It increased the flavor profile and enriched the dumplings. Next was my pork dumplings with noodle. The dumplings were the same as before. We continued to dunk it into the 5 spice sauce. However, the noodles in the soup was really soft. You can tell it was homemade. It was a bit bland so I dunk the noodles in the sauce too. Taiwanese Tapas? It seemed a bit gimmick-y to me at first, but let me assure you it really works. I can only guess that this style of cooking and fresh Catalan produce came together in divine intervention. Their specialty is dumplings that are made right in front of you, but I also scarfed down bits of firm tofu and spicy bamboo that would have had the stanchest carnivore salivating. I recommend anything with mushrooms there. Mosquito isn't the cheapest place in Barcelona, but worth it for treating oneself. read more

If you are really craving for asian food at 11:30pm in Barcelona, this is probably one of the few places you'll end up at. They don't serve noodles at that time, so if that's what you want, don't come. They do have freshly made "tapas", or "dim sum", but they were super disappointing. We ordered some dumplings and wonton soup.. Both were so salty... to the extreme that your throat closes off a little when you swallow. Let's start with the pro's: Cute hole in the wall, service was ok, menu had English, server spoke some English, food prices were reasonable. Con's ~ the food was meh. Kimchi was ok, but all 3 dumplings tasted the same (Shrimp, Beef, Pork). They tasted like frozen dumplings, but at least had a fresh texture. That is to say, they had no flavor other than the soy sauce they served it with. Drinks were pricey. Locals seemed happy. Not an Asian customer in the place. If you know Asian food, probably going to be dissapointed, but if you grew up eating Spanish food, I guess this would be exotic. I don't see myself going back. read more

Mosquito is great...once you're in the door. I'm not sure I would repeat my experience there only because Barcelona will always be a vacation destination in my life (unfortunately!) and I probably wont choose to sacrifice so many hours waiting on line on my next trip. Once we were dining though everything was great. The duck was awesome and a way larger portion than we were expecting. Dumplings were pretty good, and I am well versed in dumplings. Staff was a bit disorganized, resulting in multiple servers asking us the same questions over and over but overall the meal was great.
