In a time where online shopping reigns supreme, it is rare to be reminded of the simple joys of shopping in person. Moscot was such a reminder. The store is laid out beautifully. If visiting, it is definitely a stop as you grab coffee, sandwiches, and check out other hip places in the area. It's trendy in the way that timeless and classic things are trendy. But the glasses themselves are beautiful too. There are so many fun shapes and designs, some vintage looks as well. Somehow these old styles look good on everyone. To top it off, the customer service is exceptional. The crew is so nice. They gave my baby, husband, and I little pins as a souvenir. And they helped us choose a pair of sunglasses that my husband has been eyeing and searching for, for a while. I've been meaning to write this review. I bought a pair of my first Moscots through my optometrist, but visited this location on two occasions to pick them out. The store is in a trendy area of Melrose and the shop is very cool. I've always bought independent eyewear: Garrett Leight, Salts, but wanted to get a pair of Moscots to add to the rotation. Mario helped me both times, but I did solicit some feedback from some of the other crew members who were also helpful. I was so incredibly impressed with Mario's knowledge of glasses, the brand and helping me pick out the style and color. He has a ton of experience in the industry which was apparent. He knows the catalogue like the back of his hand and was able to help me navigate it (because it can be a bit overwhelming for first time customers). Came here about a year ago and bought sunglasses with a friend. Came back again recently because my friend lost his old pair. Andre helped us this time we came back. He was very patient with my friend who can be very particular about the pattern on the frames. We spent over an hour in the store while my friend tried many different ones. I went in on a busy saturday to get my (very busted! covered in ceramic slip!) glasses tightened & the woman who helped me was an angel. honestly everyone at this location seems super kind but when she asked me what brought me in all of the words left my brain & she was so patient. He helped me find a replacement for broken pair of sunglasses that served me well for 6-years. Not only did David find the Lemtosh I wanted, but he found me the correct fitting one. You can't miss this place from it's facade. It's bright yellow, and the interior design has a lot of character. Everything inside seems very high quality, and you're purchasing from a family owned business, rather than Luxxotica. (Everywhere you get your glasses from is probably owned by Luxxotica. -- Yes, even Oliver Peoples.) MOSCOT is significantly better than Oliver Peoples, and the price point is fair in comparison. Usually when I shop for frames-- there's only very few frames that I like. I loved almost all of the frames that were on display! I will be back for more. Having worn glasses most of my life I can say that the majority of my glasses shopping experiences have been daunting and overwhelming. I am in my late 30s and this is the first time I have had an enjoyable experience. The staff (George specifically) was extremely helpful with not just their product but helpful with selection and knowledgeable with face styles, shape, colors, materials, and sizes. I didn't need an eye exam, but they have the option and ability to do in house for glasses prescriptions. I will only be shopping here for glasses in the future. read more

What a fantastic experience I had buying new glasses @ Moscot on Montana Avenue, Santa Monica! I had heard Moscot was the best, so I went in to see for myself. What a store they have! And they've been in the business for almost 100 years. I was greeted by David who was clearly an eyeglasses professional. He patiently helped me search for the right pair of frames for my face (I tried on a lot of them!) and showed me all of the different colored tints they offer. Wow! High quality product, pricey, yet well worth it. I had been to other eyeglass stores, but none of them compare to the wide selection and excellent customer service I received at Moscot SM. The gentleman that was helping us was kind enough, while two other staff members were talking shit and laughing while we were trying to decide on a pair of glasses. I love sunglasses and eyeglasses. I brought some friends in here because I bought a few pair in the New York store and was so impressed with their customer service, knowledge, history, and styles. I wasn't that impressed with this store. I thought that with all the enthusiasm and other customers, my friends, who I brought in there to buy their glasses and who walked out with 4 pair that they would have treated me with a bit more dignity and courtesy. They honestly weren't that helpful when it came around to little ole' me. It was almost as though they thought, meh, we sold some glasses, we don't really need anything from this person.
