One of my favorite features of this shop is the ability to try out any club you're interested in buying on their world-class driving range before making a purchase. This is a priceless feature. This shop is also known to have many Sidewalk Sales outside of their main doors so that a golfer is able to get even better prices on their golfing merchandise. The shop is located on the same property as the Haggin Oaks Golf Course and has a massive parking lot for its customers. David was patient and strategic going through the clubs. I could not hit Calloway so that was out immediately. Hit the Ping the furthest but felt a little heavy. Staff member FOA was so helpful in guiding us to what was available and giving us tips about the facility. They offer a free small basket when you bring in your ID at the shop so that you can test out some clubs. I am not a golfer but I have been convinced to start because of this location. Haggin Oaks is a hidden gem!

The clubhouse is welcoming, well maintained, & clean. The golf course is challenging. If you love trees you'll love this golf course. It's literally a forest with a golf course hidden within. So this track is not for beginners nor golfers who spray the balls in every direction. Shot accuracy is mandatory if you want to score. The turf conditions are excellent. Fairways are healthy green and on this late September Monday were mowed at a welcoming height. There's no real rough or large penalty areas to lose golf balls on most holes. The challenge is getting the ball back into play when it's behind a stand of trees. I walked the course. It's relatively flat, so if you are in physically good condition the 7,000 yards (with meandering to and fro) is good exercise. Walking green fee is around $40. For the price this golf course is a value bargain. And check out the golf course electric scooters! I'm going to rent one the next time I play here. Recommended.

We showed up around 930a on a random weekday and it was empty minus a player or 2 at the far reaches of the course.So we paid our green fees of $20 each and were told to go ahead and tee off whenever we were ready.That $20 gives u access to play 9 holes at this short par 3 course and if u want and there are openings you can pay another $7 to play another 9 holes. This is a true no frills golf course-they have an area you can practice putting but that's about it,no driving range,no chipping area,and it's perfect that way-it's just a course you go to when you want to introduce someone to golf in a judgment free spot,etiquette can be taught but people aren't hung up on it here,it's a place where the love of the game can be born and I'm happy it exists. October 4, 2025. The…read moremorning started perfectly -- my mood, just like the weather in Sacramento, was phenomenal and full of positivity. Everything was going great... until I went to the Big 5 store on Elkhorn Blvd. At first, the saleswoman was polite, but after she called the manager to handle the return of a defective inflatable mattress, the situation changed completely. The manager was extremely rude and disrespectful -- he kept snorting, interrupting, speaking in an irritated tone, and showing open aggression. I couldn't argue or raise my voice -- my English isn't strong enough for that, which can easily be confirmed by the store's security cameras. So I calmly and respectfully called my daughter to help explain the situation over the phone. The manager spoke to her rudely and irritably, getting upset when she referred to the official Big 5 website, where the return policy is clearly stated differently from what he claimed. He even tried to intimidate me by threatening to call the police, as if the police were some kind of punishment force that would come and "throw me out of the store." I never raised my voice, never acted rude or aggressive -- I was simply trying to return a defective item, staying calm and respectful the entire time. In the end, the manager grabbed the box with the mattress, carried it outside, and ordered me to leave the store. I was completely shocked by this treatment. I never expected that a well-known retail chain like Big 5 could allow such behavior toward a customer. I sincerely hope that the company's management reviews the security footage, investigates this incident, and ensures that such behavior never happens again. Im​ really interested to see if the same behavior continues from that manager and if anything action will be taken towards stoping it.
