First thing first,I like this golf course.This golf course has an exact purpose and it fills that purpose perfectly.This golf course is for beginners-In my lifetime I have probably taken 10 different golfers who had never played a round on a course or maybe even never even touched a golf club before.Thats what this place is here for and I love it. Recently my son wanted to finally play a real round of golf and though he has been to the driving range many times over the years,he has never actually played a round,so when he told me that,I knew exactly where we were headed-we went to Foothill Golf Course in Citrus Heights. We showed up around 930a on a random weekday and it was empty minus a player or 2 at the far reaches of the course.So we paid our green fees of $20 each and were told to go ahead and tee off whenever we were ready.That $20 gives u access to play 9 holes at this short par 3 course and if u want and there are openings you can pay another $7 to play another 9 holes. This is a true no frills golf course-they have an area you can practice putting but that's about it,no driving range,no chipping area,and it's perfect that way-it's just a course you go to when you want to introduce someone to golf in a judgment free spot,etiquette can be taught but people aren't hung up on it here,it's a place where the love of the game can be born and I'm happy it exists. So if you are ever looking for a spot to take a new golfer in your life or maybe you want to try golf for the 1st time,I would fully recommend this golf course to give our lovely sport a shot-u never know,u might love it. read more

This courses is a GREAT course: clean, well groomed, easy to walk but they have carts and Finn Scooters available to rent, staff is friendly and helpful. They have a putting area to practice but no Driving Range. This course is fun and it's now my go-to spot to get a quick 9-holes in on any day. Currently the course is being aerated the grass is in terrible condition. They move the tea boxes making everything shorter and very muddy. I would say for now pass on this golf course it's $20. They raise the price you'd be better off going anywhere else. read more

If I were able to do so, I'd give this 2 1/2, mostly because the greens, while slow, were ok to good, but I can't honestly say it was even ok overall. One glaring deficiency and a somewhat minor but irksome one outweighed that the price is right and the greens. That is, there's about a six-foot fringe area around the back and sides of the greens. Shorter than normal, but not by so much that it's not in the "I can live with that" category. The problem is, if you're off the green, not on one of those areas, and anywhere other than within the parameters of the right and left side of the green as extended toward the tee, behind the short fringes is a narrow strip of rough, which varied from (rough estimate three to five feet). So basically, if you're not in the short fringe, putting from off the green, something average golfers are encouraged to do up to a point rather than trying to imitate the pros, is impossible. Few of us hit more than a handful of greens in regulation in any given round. Being able to hit a chip without having to hit a lofted shot 30 feet or less, something with which even pros can struggle, is fundamental to the layout of any public course, especially one that obviously attracts more than the average course of people who aren't all that familiar with the ABCs of golf course behavior. They may counter this by saying it had rained a couple of days prior, but that doesn't explain why the grass in their strips just off the green was longer than the rough behind them. The minor gripe is minuscule signs directing you to the next tee. It's not like a normal course where there's any need for such a thing. For instance, you get off the (an actual situation I encountered at least three or four times on this nine-holer), it's not evident where to go, and the holes aren't lined up in readily identifiable order of 1 to 2, and on down the line. You get off a green and, rather than it being clear where to head, you experience an intersection with holes that aren't the next one in order. All that said, if you want a cheap round and none of the foregoing is of concern, have at it. You're not going to get to play 18 as I was eliglble to do today, instead cashing it in after 15, via a non-refundable website for $23 walking (easy for me to get around even at age 74 and all kinds of arthrictic stuff; my right knee buckled once during the round pushing my pull cart on any other kind of golf course, including ones that are not as good as this one) anywhere else in a metro area of California and maybe not even in more rural outposts. read more

9 hole 3 par course. I can see why it's a beginner/ practice course. The parking lot, course and , club house are quaint. We were worried about the possibility of golf balls hitting the parked cars. The check in process was smooth, they have golf balls, tees (for sale), and clubs available to rent. They only serve light snacks (candy, chips). No alcohol or hot food for sale. There is one indoor restroom and port a potties on the actual course. Only three golf carts for rent, and two "motorcycle" ish scooters to use to get around the course. Course itself is walk friendly. However, the holes are not easily marked which makes it somewhat difficult to navigate while playing. The course had a few muddy holes, divots, etc. BUT it is a decent beginner, practice course. Friendly customer service. read more

Awful service, trash course. I called to see how much 18 holes would be and was told $35. So me and my buddy drove out hoping to get a hole in one as this is a par three course. when we got to the pro shop, we were told the price was $29. After we played 9 holes we went back to the first Teebox, where the pro house employee ran out and yelled at us to get off the field. when I explained that we paid for 18 he said we didnt and that if we wanted to play another nine it would be 18 more dollars. that's a total of $47 for a twilight round of golf at a par three course. besides the extremely troll like and rude pro shop manager we hated the course. no bunkers, no water, nothing to add any fun to the course. For 47$ I would recommend you play almost anywhere else in the area. read more

Had first tee off time there Saturday 8:31am. My son excited as new golfers. Place to open 8am. Waited and waited until 845am then left as no one showed up at clubhouse. Left 2 voice mails and no one called me back. That deplorable in itself. Understandable people can be late but not to call back once with an apology or offer a free round etc... nothing. Nice little par 3, 9-hole golf course. It's inexpensive and great for a beginner. They don't have a driving range, but one is in the works for this winter. Also a club house (hopefully with food and bar) is coming. With those additions, it'll be 5 star. read more

The best course to get your short game on par. Judy. & Bob are the best along with the staff. Reservations are simple and it can be done online or by phone. They have seasonal night golf the is soooo much fun. It's easier than you would think. No water or sand. But if you can par this course you will play other courses much better. It's 9 holes. No bar cart but beer is available along with other beverages If you are looking for a nice short course to play better this is the place. Very reasonable rates Carts are available but you need to reserve in advance. You can even rent push carts. Parking is easy. read more

Hadn't been to the course in over 8 years and decided to stop by. You can tell they have put time and money into the facility and the greens were in fantastic shape. The man at the front desk was very insightful and I felt my business was appreciated. I look forward to coming back after college and making this my main 9 hole course. In the next year I was told they will have a outdoor patio and they are working on a driving range. All around great experience and I look forward to coming back. They also had some cool motorcycle bag carrying things that look like a lot of fun and I can't wait to try them next time! read more

Not a bad place to play. Been coming here for 20 years and have seen remarkable changes. Great work by the grounds crew. Major drawback is the lack of golf etiquette with people not repairing ball marks, leaving beer bottles laying within a few feet of the trash cans, and the "guy" that just has to hit three balls when people are behind him... while splaying balls in every direction. Rampant - It's not a driving range! I realize a lot of beginners go there, and it should be a responsibility of the course to either "school" the beginners, or manage the course appropriately. A lot of talk about building up the course and "foundation" but what about investing in professionalism that will enhance the level of play for all of us who pay to play. read more

The warmup area consisted of a couple worn out hitting nets and a practice green that was a little soggy. The day I was here the city had some construction work on one of the tees so I had to improvise. The course wasn't up to date in my golf GPS (yes, largely a problem of the app, but if I ran a golf course, you can bet I'd make sure the major golf apps had the best information since so many Golfers rely on them). I need to go back on a day when I'm feeling better and maybe I'll like it more, but I never felt excited about this course and the somewhat confusing layout wasn't helping much. Also I hit my first shot at 1, but due to the sun I couldn't figure out exactly where it landed. After 5 minutes of hunting around the back of the green, I gave up and started walking back to hit again when I spotted the ball just a couple feet short of the green completely plugged about two inches deep in the fringe. Time to take some steps to firm up the greens. Overall, I give it three stars because there wasn't anything terrible, and the staff was very nice, but I can't give it anything more because it just wasn't a great golf experience. read more

Got the Groupon -- 2 rounds and a beers/sodas for $13, can't beat that! Haven't played in a very long time, so the short courses were welcome (took about an hour). I could see it being very cramped for a non-beginner though. It was a beautiful day and the other golfers and the woman who helped me was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the cyclone fences allow the balls to run away if you over hit it, lost 2 that way. Some slats on those holes would be a good investment. Ok, so this place is pretty crappy. It's basically a pitch and putt nine hole golf course over off of Greenback by the Cinedome theaters or whatever they call that multiplex over there. Greens were not kept up at all. You gotta hate picking your ball out of a cup thats filled with tepid water. But who cares? You don't have to wear a shirt, your dog can go off leash and it's only 7 bucks. Plus I got par on two holes and I'm possibly the worst golfer you have ever seen. read more

Picture 13 years ago when I was a poor college kid who realized that there wasn't a ton of options to play basketball or baseball anymore. So what did I do? Learned to play golf. Why did I learn to play one of the most frustrating games ever invented? That is an awesome question and yet I have no reasonable answer. So I took my lessons and since I was scared shitless of the big boy courses(think Haggen Oaks) my friends and I started our golfing experiences here. The holes range from 100 yards to 150 yards, pitch and putt. Now fast forward 13 years later with a little less hair on my head, a little more hair in unwanted parts of my body, a little more gray, a little thicker in the mid section AND THE SAME CRAPPY GOLF SWING. Who doesn't get better after 13 years of golf? THIS GUY! With all that being said I rolled up to Foothills with one of my buddies who started playing here with me. Groupon got me to come here with a deal of golf for two and a beer each for $13. Cant beat that right? We actually had a lot of fun. Course was in good shape for Foothills standards. Greens were in good shape we even commented on it a couple times. The young lady working the front desk was super nice. She even allowed us to play hole number 9 again because we ended up tied after 9 holes. We still ended up tied, but it's cool we walked away with no winner. Also a 16oz Coors Light with the twist cap was only $3. That was a welcome surprise. We played at 4pm on a Friday and there was literally 4 cars in the parking lot. NO WAIT! No driving range or net to hit into so it is literally walk up and GRIP IT AND RIP IT!! There is a nice lil putting green though. I'll be back again, it was too fun and cheap not to. read more

Short course, 9 holes, all par 3s. In OK condition, although the greens could use work (at one point I was putting off sand!) No bunkers or water hazards. Not much in the way of facilities, but there is a net for practice and a small putting green. Cheap ($10). Lots of greybeards hanging around the clubhouse. Good place for a quick 1.5 hour round, especially if you want to work on your short game. Play it, but don't let your buddies know unless you want to be razzed into next Sunday. read more

I played a round here on Friday, April 29th. It was a beautiful day. Course was in Great shape and not crowded at all. The staff was super friendly. I enjoyed it so much I went back with three of my buddies and played a round of Glow Golf on Saturday night. What a blast. This is a quant little 9 Hole Par 3. Come check it out!!! read more
