Cordova is a classic old-school muni layout. The pluses for me are : 1) Reasonable pricing, Senior discount available. 2) You don't have to rent a golf cart if you don't mind walking, it's a shorter length course overall ( please Ignore this comment when the temperature gets over 90 !) 3) Small practice putting green and large driving range available. 4) They do have a small restaurant, with patio seating available, and alcohol is served :) 5) Friendly staff, from the pro shop, to the rangers, to the restaurant staff. There are no water fountains on the course, but there is a cooler available at the Driving Range, plus on hotter days, a Course Ranger drives around in a golf cart with a big water cooler on it. 6) The "old school" muni course feel. I grew up on courses like Cordova in the Chicago area, and because I'm now officially an old fart, I'd much rather play a fun muni I can still walk, just like Cordova, than play a ridiculously hard upscale ("expensive") course (like Apple Mountain, close to me) that Army Rangers would have a tough time walking ! The minuses for me are : 1) I like to walk on, instead of having a tee time, since I have about a 45 minute drive, and can never tell how busy the roads I have to take will be - plus I can never guess if the course is going to be really busy or not ( and watch out for high school golf teams in the afternoon), as I like to play fast, and you WILL encounter some slow groups (and usually when it's so busy that you can't play through !) 2) Although there's plenty of grass, and a lot of it is in good shape, (kudos to the Groundskeeper !) some areas are either way too wet, way too dry, or way too much dirt instead of grass. 3) It is a shorter length course overall, so don't get a big head if you think you're hitting it longer all of a sudden ( you're not, the holes are just shorter !) 4) Grass conditions (and/or lack of grass) can vary widely from hole to hole, and even shot to shot) as you can end up in a nice patch of fluffy country-club quality grass, to a real soggy area, or to #$@% rock-hard dried mud. But c'mon, it's a busy Muni, don't complain, just consider it part of the experience ! 5) Bunker conditions can also vary widely hole to hole, from basically hardpacked cement to wow, this is a nice trap ! 6) Although the rangers do a great job driving around offering cold water on warm days, I literally never have seen a ranger get involved in dealing with slow play groups. But overall, Cordova gets two thumbs up from me ! read more

Had a great time playing at Cordova today! Our tee time was right before 2 leagues were playing but we didn't feel rushed and maintained a good pace of play, even with 4 players. The fairways are wide and overall very well maintained. Primarily par 3 & 4's, similar to Antelope Greens, but closer! Prices are also very reasonable. read more

Very wide and forgiving fairways! Not the most pristine of courses but its very accommodating for newer golfers that need room to work with after a bad shot or ...10 when slicing/hooking. Its hard to miss a fairway here even for the most beginner of golfers and even if you miss, you're on another fairway with a clear shot to back on track on your hole to get up and down. Golf sure is tough aint it? There are trees too, but not enough to block your way but those squirrels gonna have to 'scramble' out the way. You won't often find yourself behind a tree having to lay it up but hey it happens to the best of us. The terrain is very flat and beneficial for the newbie that needs good lies where the ball is level with your stance. Theres some water too, around the back nine near the driving range so hopefully your ball doesn't take a bath here like mine did. The green fees are a bit high for the course quality but its also very convenient for finding tee times mostly. Will def be back for more bogeys...and hopefully some birdies next time. Yesterday around 5:45 PM, my son and I headed to Cordova Golf Course to hit some balls. Because a few weeks ago we arrived with nearly two hours left before closing and found the course closed early, we decided to call ahead this time. We called four times within about 10 minutes -- no answer. We arrived around 5:50 PM on Tuesday evening and saw people still out on the course. As we walked up, we noticed someone leaving the pro shop wearing a blue sweater with "staff" on the back. There was a "Closed" sign on the door. The staff member looked directly at us and kept walking. I asked, "Are you guys closed? Your website says 8:00 PM." His response, while continuing to walk away, was, "We're not serving any balls anymore. We're done for the evening." I explained that the website was not clearly accessible and that it listed 8:00 PM as closing. He did not stop to address my concerns and continued speaking to me while walking away. We pulled up the website again on my son's phone, and it wasn't loading properly. We checked Yelp, which also listed 8:00 PM. When I asked about the hours, he said, "That's wrong." As a customer, how are we supposed to know that? This is the second time we've come here and experienced early closure despite posted hours saying otherwise. While he briefly explained that some days they close at sunset and other days differ depending on maintenance schedules, none of that is clearly posted online. If your hours vary, that needs to be clearly communicated on your website, voicemail, and Yelp -- especially for customers who travel to get there. I asked for a manager or owner's contact information and was told the course is owned by the City of Rancho Cordova and managed by Doug Dickson. I plan to follow up because this level of service is unacceptable. Beyond the inconsistent hours, the customer service was disappointing. The staff member was short, dismissive, and lacked basic professionalism. A simple explanation and respectful communication would have gone a long way. I typically visit Wildhawk or Emerald Lakes and have never experienced this kind of issue. Unfortunately, after two negative experiences here, I won't be returning. Cordova Golf Course has significant room for improvement in customer service, communication, and overall operations. Hi-ya! On Saturdays they have lessons for kids where a handful of local golf pros teach. They are kind, helpful and good with how they communicate with the kids. They let them putt and drive and it's for only $15 for the hour. This is really a nice way for the kiddos to get into golf amongst other kids their age and easy without pressure from a parent. It's easy to get to, just down Bradshaw and off Jackson. Overall really nice place to learn and practice and they have a beach hut deli for the snack and meal area. read more

Is it the greatest or prettiest course in Sacramenro? No. But for the cost of the greens fee, it's certainly an amazing value without being a terrible experience. Customer service is amazing too. Came on a Saturday, and some error had occurred with making the reservation online. Eddie was super cool about it and was able to get us in anyway. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a chill experience with low stress. read more

This has been my "home course" since the 90s. Everyone cuts their teeth here. It's not hooty tooty or frumpy or one of those city courses that has country club rules. It's accessible, it's affordable, and most importantly it's enjoyable. Does it have state of the art practice bays like Haggin Oaks? Does it have multi tiered fast greens like Whitney Oaks? Does it have complete quiet from surrounding traffic like Apple Mountain? No, but I'm not in the mood to line up for the range, pay $70 on a weekday, or drive an hour to play and then drive an hour back. This is the people's course, and all my kids played their first rounds here. Now this ain't a 5 star review. A couple things that aren't cool is that sometimes they just let the sprinklers run during the day. I have to take a free lateral drop so I don't get soaked. A probably a little too many patches of crabgrass than I'd like. But it's a great home course. One day I want to be like those old timers who come in every week for their morning tournaments. I hadn't played Cordova for years, but it was the only local 18 I could get a time at, so I figured let's go. My god the course is in a horrible state. This is the time of year it should be looking good, instead it's muddy, the traps have mosquito breeding ponds in them and there's goose crap all over the place. We played 9 at Bradshaw last week and it was like playing at a country club compared to this mess. I hit a nice 3 wood, that should've had some legs on it and when it landed there was a splash. A disgusting mud puddle just randomly hanging out in the middle of the fairway. Shoes got muddy, club digging it out got muddy, ball covered in that sewery smelling foul nasty gunk. It has not rained for 9 days. I paid for 18, but after more than 2 1/2 hours to play the front, we decided to quit. The sandwiches at the sandwich place were excellent. read more

Nice course to get some swings in, especially if you are a high-handicap golfer like myself. Green fees are very reasonable and the staff is always friendly. I usually play alone, but when paired with a group, the other golfers are always friendly. Cordova is one of my go-to courses when I want to get a round in. read more

The good is that it's close to the house and a decent public course. The bad is sometimes they close early (even though the sun is up and they're supposed to close at 8pm) aka at 7:15 when it's clear skies and it really doesn't get dark until about 8:15. The gentlemen working at the counter was so nice to accomodate and get us out without any problem and he even went above and beyond by giving my golf buddy a ride to us on the third hole because he was super late. This course is really small that's why they charge 19$ green fee, but be advised their cart rental fee is 17$/person. Course is decently maintained lots of dry grass and dirt. Just a bad location. Very disappointing. Scheduled a tee time through their website. Mind you $17 cart fee is outrageous. There was no information stating that they just aerated the greens and the back nine was closed. Get to the course early to warm up and after I pay for the round, cart fee, and a bucket of balls the guy says, "oh by the way, the back nine is closed, we just aerated the greens, and there is a high school competition going on." This golf course just became disgusting. Went yesterday and there was absolutely no place on the fairways that wasn't covered in poop. Your ball would be smeared in it and you'd certainly be walking in it. Only way to avoid it would be to hit off the fairway, so in other words a bad shot. Don't go during the wet season. I tried to play today and plugged two balls in two holes. There is water standing in the fairways ,on the cart paths, around the greens. It's an absolute mess. I can't believe they opened the course knowing these conditions. I wasted $34. The person from parks and rec should be fired for allowing the course to be torn up just to make a couple of bucks. I've played at this course twice already but it's been years since I've been back until today. My brother bought me a round of golf for my birthday so we went this morning. This place has definitely improved from the last time I played here. It seems like they also got rid of the footie golf that they had which I'm sure has helped out the grounds. Due to Covid you're not allowed to pull out the flags and the cups are inverted to prevent reaching into the cup. They also have plastic partitions in the carts which I think are useless but offer some sort of comfort to people that want more protection. If you're not looking to spend an arm and a leg to play a round of golf, then Cordova is the spot. The price I payed to play a full round and a push cart came out to be $29. The course is not that big compared to a lot of the local courses. The only complaint I have about this course is that all the holes are pretty close to each other so there is a high probability that people playing in the other holes will hit an errant shot onto the fairway that you're playing on or vice versa. But people are typically very friendly about it. The course has a lot of par 3's with a couple par 4 and par 5's. They're challenging, but not hard because there isn't too much water play or tree's that are in the way. Definitely a good place for beginners to work on their games. As a lot of other reviewers have mentioned, the fairways are not in the best of shape. But for $29 for a round of golf, I did not expect it to be like Torrey Pines or Augusta Golf Course. read more

Our son recommended this course. Was only my 3rd time playing. Pretty decent place. We got a driving cart, we're able to practice putting before our game. Pretty landscape with fountain, many trees and lots of wildlife. The fairways & greens are well kept. People on the course were friendly and we were offered water by someone who worked there. read more

Decided to give this course another chance. First, the customer service is horrible. They had no carts at 11am and once a cart got returned the worker (asian dude) didn't want to rent it to me. Said there was a list but no one was teeing off before or after. Most likely wanted to save it to charge two people for a cart. So he charged me $8 for a push cart. Push carts are cheaper at nicer courses in the area... Second, the course is in horrible condition. Save your money and time and play at any other course within 15 miles. read more

The Course is not in good shape. Although the greens are well kept, a saving grace to our game. I know it's winter but I can't imagine it being too much better than today. So the layout is a tight fit which means about 10 Par 3s, 1 Par 5, 7 Par 4s.m, flat and couple water hazards on the 9th,10th and 18th that don't really come into play unless you really hook or slice your approach shot. We are brewery ppl and heard Claimstake Brewery will be operating the concession with their taps. Green fees were $34 with cart today. Will try again once Claimstake opens. Hopefully grounds dry up and fill in a lot more. Very muddy today. read more

First timer for Cordova 18 holes. I enjoyed the nice wide fairways on several of the par 4 golf holes. It's nice to go over to the driving range before or even after a round to work out some problems with a driver or irons. I had a 7 iron regripped and immediately could sense a better swing with it. These guys are ridiculous, they charge golf cars "per player", so even if you're sharing one it's same price, so I said ok give me 2 separate cars then for 15 each, he raised his voice and said " no we can't do that, it's policy"... lol what kind of policy says you pay per player but that same policy doesn't let you get separate for their price?? The guy was being really rude the whole time giving me a hard time after all the times I've been here so I'm never coming back, they're ridiculous and are a waste of time and energy for such a mediocre course. Used a great Groupon offer to play this course. Friendly Staff, course was well maintained, grass was thick and greens were slow. Surprised I didn't notice this was a men's par 63/ women's 66. A lot of par 3 holes, but a very nice course to play. Carts need upgrading but they had plenty of power. Can't comment on restaurant because we didn't eat. (We were moving along pretty well so we didn't take a break, took us 3 hours to play). I would come back to play. read more

I have played golf a long time and this is by far the worst course I have ever played in ever way. The carts are in horrible shape and dirty. Ours didn't even have a working brake. The range balls are old and not washed, the course has so many dead spots I felt I needed a shovel or a rake instead of a club. Even after all that you would think the customer service might be decent to offset the horrible experience otherwise; nope. We went into the "19th hole" after for a cold beer and waited over 15 minutes sitting at the bar and nobody offered to help. We eventually left and have no plans to ever return. We could have played a much nicer course for the same amount with a slightly later tee time. read more

This is a brilliant golf course for beginners. Many par 3s though some are a bit long, around 200 yds from White Tees. The fairways are straight and flat and the trees protect the greens and fairways well enough. It is a small, worn down course and the complex reduces its price because of so. The manager has been at the course for about 2 months now and has solidified my thought of returning to this golf course soon, as they have a clear and direct plan to improve my only current problem with the course which would be the maintenance of the grass. Overall, a great course for casual players looking to get out for a few hours any day. Cheap cost and forgiving holes. I will definitely return soon. Edit: I feel the need (after reading the other reviews) to mention the exact changes that the general manager told me would come in the next few months: 1. Better Carts 2. Updated Pro Shop 3. New equipment and staff certifications to use said equipment for the maintenance of grass/greens. We will see how this looks in the future but as of now I am thoroughly impressed as a casual golfer by this course and the plan for their future. read more
