Tonight I went to Morse Tavern with 2 friends from work. In the past, we had had decent service and food, nothing special, but good for a quick meal. Tonight was....so bad it is difficult to mention ALL the things that went wrong. First of all, when we were seated at our table, the hostess specifically asked our waitress if it was okay to seat us at her table to which she agreed it would be okay. We were seated and then proceeded to wait at least 30 minutes before our hostess came back past our table and asked if we had been helped yet. A few minutes later our waitress stopped by and we gave our drink and full dinner order so that there wouldn't be a problem again. Another 30 minutes went by and no food, drinks or concern from our waitress (Kerry). We asked to see a manager. A woman came out and asked if there was a problem. We proceeded to explain our complete lack of service so she went to the back and a few minutes later, the food came out. When our waitress came by again, we expressed concern about whether the fish was cook all the way or not. She said it definitely was cooked, so we let it go. After about 10 minutes of trying to get our waitress' attention, we said it wasn't cooked properly and my friend wanted to order something else. She said, "Do you know what you want or do you want to see a menu again?" My friend asked for a menu. After another 5 minutes, my friend got up and found her own menu. When we finally got her attention again, my friend said, "Thank you for the menu." Then the waitress replied, "I saw you had one." No, 'I'm sorry." No, "What can I get for you?" My friend quickly said she would have the wedge salad. Seven minutes later, the salad finally came. On top of this, my food....well it was disgusting!! I ordered onion soup and a hamburger. To say both were greasy is an understatement!!! My soup was like drinking clear grease with a little broth on the bottom. There was no explanation for how you could serve this and call it soup! My other friend ordered a ruben that came with about 3 strands of saurkaut and one side of bread was completely black (burnt)!
After waiting and waiting, our waitress finally cleared the table. She reached across in front of my friend to grab dishes from another person seated at the table, and in removing her dishes, proceeded to spill salad dressing on the other person. With dishes in hand, the waitress looked at her and said, "Did I get you?" Again, NO "I'm sorry" or "What can I do for youl?" Rude, just RUDE!!! After paying our checks (with NO tip, I'm NOT SORRY), we asked again to see the manager. Again, the same woman came out to see what was the problem and what could she do about it. I asked, "Are you the manager??" She stumbled over her words and said, "I'm in charge." I again asked if she was the manager and she said no. I said, where is the manager? She said he was in the back. I then proceeded to tell her that I had given them two chances to correct the problem with our dinner and service, but now that the manager didn't have the decency to come out into the dining room and face his customers, I would be forced to write a review on Yelp. I have never written a review, but I am 100% sure I will never, nor will either of my friends, ever eat at Morse Tavern again.
As a note: The one bright spot was the hostess. She was very apologetic and tried to be helpful....we found out it was her first night on the job. Hope she finds a job somewhere where she will be appreciated and respected. read more
