Let's start with getting in this restaurant... It is almost impossible! They stay packed. I went on a Saturday and the people waiting was ridiculous. It was a 2 hr wait so we left. I tried making reservations a week before but Open Table reported no availability! So we decided to try again on Monday morning before heading out of town. Luckily, they were able to seat us outside. Unfortunately, it took about 15 minutes just to get water and another 10 minutes before a nice young lady came out to take or order. She let us know she wasn't our server but would take our order. Then she mentioned that a table became available because the patrons decided to sit at the bar! Yaaassss!!! We were super excited! Got inside and the service was not particularly good. The server was a bit dismissive and complained a lot which was kind of off putting! BUT BAAABAAAYYYYY!!!! The food was spectacular! Everything came to the table piping hot and so flavorful!! I ordered the Red Beans and Rice and it was the best I've ever tasted!! The catfish was fried and seasoned to perfection! The greens were perfectly seasoned although there were a lot of stems. I wish I could leave NEGATIVE stars. This was the worst dining experience of my life. We arrived on time for our reservation and had to wait outside in the cold until our table was ready. I arrive to New Orleans on Friday to celebrate my birthday Friday being December 12. on Saturday 12/13 I already had in mind to go to Morrows an upon arrival I was told I needed to make a reservation and because I didn't have a reservation, we could sit at the bar, there was no Open reservations and full capacity although a lot Of Open seats we sat at the bar The countertop was dirty. The menus were wet when we received them and they did not have certain breakfast items because it was Saturday we leave we did not eat. fast forward to our plans for Sunday. We were told that they open at 10:30 and that it's a first come first servewith out reservations so we decided to take a chance on that. in the night of Saturday on OpenTable, which is used for reservations. There was an option to select if there would be any open reservations to get notifications in the morning around 9 AM. Option popped up for a 1215 reservation in which we had has secured and obtained a confirmation email. upon arrival, I was told my reservation could not be found and that I should've received the cancellation email because unfortunately they do not take same day reservations. We were then instructed to sit at the bar once again the place had plenty of people the ambience was calm. The attentiveness of the server was very bleak because they were a lot of other people at the bar the food I would give a solid seven out of 10, but other than that, if this is your goal, please be sure you have a reservation. After hearing some recommending Morrow's for their fried chicken, we made reservations for our large group. We attempted to just do a single reservation for our group of like 17 people but it was easier to just break it apart into smaller ones. Unfortunately, they won't seat you until your whole party is present so plan accordingly! Once seated, it took awhile for someone to take our order. The service is kind of slow and no one really checks in on your throughout the meal. Other than that, the servers were friendly and the food was good. Sweet Sesame Ginger Glazed Wings: Comes with 5 pieces. The table next to us had ordered these and it smelled so good...we just had to get it for ourselves. The chicken wings were super crispy and the stick glaze was amazing. Highly recommend! It's just a little annoying that it comes in an odd number. Oysters Morrow: Ordered the dozen for our table of four. The sizes of these oysters varied a lot, with some almost twice the size as others. Each piece is charbroiled with their herby, buttery sauce and there's crabmeat too. Save the extra bucks and just go with their regular charbroiled oysters. The sauce was amazing but I honestly couldn't tell the difference with the extra crab meat. Ribeye: Comes with two sides. We originally asked for medium rare but they undercooked it. We had to send it back to cook a bit longer. Other than that, the meat is really tender and seasoned well. Morrow's Fried Chicken (Dark): Also comes with two sides. I really liked that you could choose between dark and white meat. Of course we chose dark meat for more flavorful and juicy cuts. It came with two drumsticks and one thigh. Super crispy, super juicy. Exactly what we were looking for! A lot of the main entrees also came with sides so we definitely over ordered for 4 people. But we wanted to try as much as we could and we left pretty satisfied. I get not seating people but typically it is if 75% of your party has arrived then they will seat you so I'm not a fan of this. Our waiter was friendly but not as upfront about his favorite items on the menu he went to the most popular. The red beans were also flavorful cooked perfectly, and had delicious smoked meat in them. The catfish was cooked well, seasoned well, very light and flaky. The fried chicken was pretty good. It was a little dark, which makes me think that it was cook a little long or the grease wasn't as fresh but it was pretty good. The gumbo was more like a soup. It was very watery. Flavor wise I think that it could've been better in the room could have been much more thicker, so that is an authentic gumbo. There was also no crab in the gumbo, which traditionally there is. I could've done without it. The greens as well. They just didn't have much flavor and I didn't like the texture they could've been cooked a little bit longer. First off this place have such a big reputation in Nola so I was so excited to go and try to experience this with my friend on her birthday. We made reservations when we got there. They act like we didn't make reservations. And after having us wait about 15 minutes for a table, we went in there to see what's going on. They act like we didn't. I don't know what was going on, but the restaurant was a little unorganized. It took forever for them to even offer us water. Matter fact we had to ask for water. It took about 20 minutes just to get water for the whole table. The manager of the place seemed overwhelmed like he didn't have a handle on things; we ordered our food and drinks it took about 20 minutes then they spilled our drinks so we had to wait. I don't even think we got our drinks not I think about it because somebody from the kitchen walked out so they had to go handle that after a whole hour and a half of waiting for food and drinks. It finally came at least half the party of the food came. Let me say two plates out of three came and one of the dishes they had to remake, and then came back super cold that she couldn't even eat it at this point we was done with the place and decided to walk out because the service and everything was bad from the time we get there for them to have such a great reputation. I'm sad to say I ain't even get the taste of food and I was the one who plates did came but by the time all the mess had happened we was done. We had to go find another place to eat. Saw this place on a TikTok about best places to eat in New Orleans so my family and I made reservations. Despite having reservations, it was about 10 minutes before we were actually able to be seated, which wasn't too bad. When you see the neighborhood you would think this would be a hole in the wall type place but it's far from it. Inside gives off warm and cozy vibes. It's really nice but kind of tight. We were lucky to be seated in one of the few booths they had, which afforded us some privacy. Our server was nice however trying to hear his recommendations was difficult because of the music volume. My sister ordered the bbq crab claws, my mom ordered the red beans and rice, my 5 year old niece got the fried chicken plate with cornbread muffins and a side salad as the sides and I got the Wednesday special which is lamb chops over garlic mashed potatoes with asparagus. I didn't get a picture but the side salad was huge. My sister said it was good. The fried chicken plate came with three pieces and my sister and mom both said it was good. My sister also said her crab claws were delicious. My mom raved about the red beans but didn't like the sausage in them. She said the beans were very good though. The cornbread was not good. I had a bite of one and while it had a honey glaze on it that was good, it was very tough, like it had been reheated a few times. My lamb chops were cooked medium as requested and were good! The plate came with some type of homemade spicy jam for the chops and it accentuated the chops well. The asparagus and potatoes were good too. Protip: this restaurant is popular so be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. And when I said ahead of time, I mean plan ahead! We made our reservation for our group of 5 weeks in advance. When we arrived, we saw a crowd outside the restaurant all waiting to be seated. Luckily for us, since we had a reservation, we checked in and were seated immediately. The restaurant is not huge and doesn't have a lot of tables to accommodate larger groups which is why it probably often has a wait time. The vibes were vibin' in here. It was a packed restaurant, but we didn't mind the chatter - we could still hear (and sing along to) all the R&B hits playin' in the background. Our server, Zo, was awesome. He helped us by offering recommendations and everything was ready so quickly. He checked in often and always made sure we were well taken care of. The food was delicious. First the ambiance of Morrow's it definitely has it. It's a sexy sleek dimly lit Intimate spot. The service is amazing the staff is very informative and breaks down the menu and detail also the drinks. Now this place as a server told me isn't necessarily geared towards locals. It's more for the tourist crowd and It's definitely reflected in the prices. It's a little bit more on the pricey side compared to other spots with similar items but the atmosphere will cancel that off of for some people. The host and the manager were very accommodating and made sure we didn't wait long. It took about 15 minutes for seats at the bar. The food and vibes were great (played all 90's Rnb). Today was a good day. Why? Because we finally made it to Morrow's. Aside from the wait that was supposed to be 20 minutes but turned into almost an hour, we were thoroughly pleased with our experience. Before I get into the food, let's talk about the location and ambiance. Morrow's is NOT a large space. I would say about 50-60 patrons can be served comfortably. There's a mix of booths and table/chairs. Plus there is a bar. It offers a very comfortable homey kind of feel where locals converge with tourist. If it's hot, pack your patience. There is no waiting area inside. However, there is bench seating outside. This is a place that is great for you and your girls/guys, the family, and date day/night. Now...onto the food. There were three in our party plus we ordered take out for those who couldn't join us. We started with the charbroiled oysters. They were hands down the best FLAVORED we have had. Better than Neyow's and Drago's. We specifically went on Thursday so that my traveling buddy could try the gumbo ramen. When our helpful waiter advised her that it was spicy, she wavered in her desire to try it...even though she has been talking about it for months. So, what they did was let her sample the base. It was really spicy. But in swoops Super Chef Kelly who offered to make it for her with a little less spice. She was in ramen heaven. She thoroughly enjoyed it. I ordered the crawfish pasta with catfish. I would say 8/10. The pasta was well seasoned and the catfish was lightly battered and fried well. I also ordered a side of greens. They were actually pretty good. The other person in our party ordered veggies. She enjoyed the cabbage but wasn't too keen on the Mac & Cheese and spinach. She fell in love with the buttered bread that came with the oysters. Our to-go orders consisted of veggies, salads, and wings. Nobody complained when they received their orders..except for the $7 price tag for a veggie side. I would say, even with inflation, $5 max. Take out can be tricky. But, it worked out this time. Don't hesitate trying Morrow's if you need to do DoorDash or Uber Eats. I am going to wrap this review up with my cocktail. I had a Tito's and Diet Coke. It was gooood! Plus one had the good fortune of dining here on a business trip and said we have to go back, and we did! This is an easy 5-star review as the food is just off the charts. We started with the Oysters Morrow which are charbroiled and stuffed with crabmeat and finished with a butter sauce. Our other App was the BBQ shrimp. Lightly battered shrimp with a unique butter sauce. Both were just spectacular! We continued our seafood journey with redfish and grilled salmon entrees. Both had a wonderful cajun twist. I also ordered their collard greens and no surprise it was perfect. The venue is funky cool with a long bar, high tops, and standard tables. You should definitely try one of their signature Marghies and their interesting unique old fashioned. Service is OK not great as we had to hunt down our server a few times to refill our water glasses and order a cocktail. But, I can easily overlook that due to the high quality of their food. I want to give this place 5 stars because the food was AMAZING I can't find one bad thing about it. They gave so much food and I finished it all. The drink was also very strong and I only had one. Omg!!! This place is definitely worth it. I came here for my birthday with my friend. We're originally from Chicago and all can say is chefs kiss. First of all our waiter Laren was AH-MAZING!!! 10/10 would recommend. Anyway, let's get into this food hunny! THIS FOOD was DELICIOUS. We started off with the charbroiled Oysters, glazed wings, and a cup of gumbo. BAYBYYY, the charbroiled Oysters was cooked and seasoned to PERFECTION. The wings was well balanced of sweetness and saltiness (VERY SAVORY). The gumbo had me rolling my eyes back. Very well seasoned and the right amount of spicy and shrimp in every bite. The entrees were to DIE for. I had fried chicken (dark) with garlic mash and cornbread. My friend had the fried porkchops with collard greens and cabbage. Everything was cooked to perfection. We weren't really a fan of the cabbage tho. They can keep it. The collards was super delicious even though it had a little burnt taste to it. Everything was a 10/10 except for the cabbage. Dont go! Reservationist is incompetent. We called the reservation line and was told to come in down there was no wait. We arrived at the restaurant in approximately 15 minutes only to be told they could not accommodate our party. The hostess said the phones are answered by an outside agency. When I asked for the corporate office information, I was told to call the reservation number and leave a message for the owner.This company clearly do not care about customer service. read more
