This is a fantastic stop for puppy dogs along your trip. It was also a fabulous spot to look for sea glass. A win-win for everybody in the family.

Don't walk barefoot at this beach and here is why.... When you get an infection from dog poop on your foot, it's often referred to as a "fecal-oral infection" or "zoonotic infection." These infections can occur when pathogens or bacteria from the feces come into contact with broken skin or mucous membranes, potentially leading to various health issues. It's essential to clean and disinfect any wounds or affected areas thoroughly and seek medical attention if necessary to prevent complications. Parking is right along the entrance and free. At the entrance gate There is a line of lose trash bags with dog ish in it which stinks. The city/ county should place some dumping bins if they want to consider this a dog beach.

This is dog heaven in Morro Bay. Love that they also provide you heavy duty poop bag right at the entrance. The visitors and regulars here were super friendly. All the dogs were well behaved and well socialized. Best off all, it's off leash and your dogs can run around free and jump in the ocean and play with other dogs. Our dogs love to swim so they had a lot of fun. When we came here early during the 4th of July weekend it was half full. There's parking right at next to the entrance and we took our Van RV and managed to fit (22 feet long). It did start to get packed by noon time so come early to get parking, but there's a good turnover of cars coming and going so I think overall, parking shouldn't be too hard. You also get a nice view of The Rock. Cheers!

August 14, 2024 - they had a blast, we got there early, the beach was wide open

The dogs were able to hit top speed !!!this was my boys first time to the beach, it was perfect. Highly recommend, especially when you happen to have the beach to yourself

    Pups and waves!

Love dog beaches! One of my favorite things to do is to sit on a beach off the beaten path reading a book and playing with my dog or random dogs! This beach is awesome because it's located off a neighborhood and it's never congested. I've always found parking to be really easy and you just walk down a few stairs to the pristine sand. It's lined with oceanfront houses and I happened to rent one out for a few days on my most recent visit. Convenience! Convenience! You'll mostly find locals and a few renters like myself who are there with their dogs. This beach also has a direct view of Morro Rock which is always a beautiful sight to see!

Easy parking. Dogs off leash. Wide, flat beach, soft sand, and mellow waves (April)... pretty windy though! Lots of rocks, shells, seaweed, sea birds for dogs to enjoy. We just kept going back for more on our trip to SLO.

As one can see by the sign, it is supported by several local businesses. Ironically, despite all the open spaces in our area, dog parks are hard to come by, so this one sure helps out locals who want a safe place for dogs to run around a bit. It is kind of off the beaten tourist path, but on the other hand is right off Route #1....so it is ideal for locals who need it. Cayucos consists of a beach community with houses right next to one another, so there is not much room to roam. You would think that dogs could roam along the main drag or on the lovely beach, but that is not a great idea for all kinds of reasons. As in our beach community of Pismo Beach, leash laws are enforced with a passion, and rightly so....since there have been all kinds of incidents with unpredictable pets. Of course, it goes without saying that dogs [& humans] can misbehave even in a dog park, so please do not bring dogs that do not get along with others. As far as the rest of Norma Rose Park is concerned, there is really not much too it beyond some open grass & basic bathrooms. If one is looking more for a stop over for a park with a playground or more, then one has to be on the ocean side of Cayucos, where there are at least three parks.

Apart of the Central Coast Dog Park Alliance, this is one of nine semi-private dog parks that request a daily $1 fee or $30 annual fee. You can pay online or in person and of course, it's on the honor system. So don't be a jerk. When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon the park was lively. A few labs and golden-mixes in the big dog section and three or four smaller pups in the small dog section. We appreciate the double gated entrance to prevent any escapes and all the signage reminding folks on the rules. While we keep potty bags on hand, we noticed the several maintained stations that offered these freely. It's clear this park is well taken care of by it's patrons and volunteers. Everyone there was pleasant, kind, and very in tune with their dogs. We appreciated the level of care and consideration everyone had with their dogs and their interactions. It made a slightly nervous mom a lot more relaxed. There was plenty of shade, trees to sniff, and toys and water bowls. Basically everything you could possibly need! While we were only there for about 10 minutes we will certainly be returning. It's also very nearby to the 46-West if you're on a wine adventure with your pup and need to give them a good break.
