Wood chips. Not worth the risk. It's big and in a nice area but no wood chips for my dog.

Love this, what I would consider, dog park gem in Cambria so much and so do my dogs! If I could give it six stars I would as everything is wonderful, especially the coastal weather and location. They have small and big dog areas, and the big dog section is huge. Plenty of space for launching a dog ball as far as you can and it still says within the fence (which my little one loves)! Keep in mind there is no grass. It is all thinner pieces of bark, which is pretty standard for this area. Let's talk about the location. It is absolutely perfect. It's just a few minutes from the coast so it's super breezy and refreshing, and the weather is great every time we visit. It's also located a minute away from lots of cute shops and restaurants in Cambria! Always enjoy taking my dogs here!! read more

We came to Cambria in mid-July to escape a heat wave in the valley. We brought our 2 year old beagle, June and made a kind of 24-hour "June-cation" where we explored dog parks, dog friendly eateries, wineries, and beaches. It was the perfect experience. Since we were staying in Cambria I wanted to make sure June had ample time to stretch her legs off-leash and the Cambria Dog Park was the perfect choice. We arrived Monday late morning and found the entire park to ourselves. The park is in a meadow tucked away from traffic. It's a beautiful place and we enjoyed the scenery while June explored. This park was very well taken care of and had plenty of fenced space. It even had balls and toys! We spent a good 30 minutes here but could have easily spent an entire afternoon. We wished there were other dogs for her to play with, but this was a good opportunity for us to get the lay of the land. We will definitely be back! read more

Was not allowed to bring my sweet pups in to get a quick play / zoomies on our way to Big Sur because one of them is un-neutered. So we took them for a walk on the outside perimeter instead. Only bad thing is there's fox tails everywhere else. First time visiting a dog park that doesn't allow un-neutered dogs, my pups left pretty sad and walked along the fence not being able to meet and play with the local dogs. read more

Accidentally fell upon this hidden gem of an off leash dog park while checking out downtown Cambria! The park is huge and is broken up into two sections, one for large dogs and one for smaller dogs. Bottled drinking water for the dogs, plenty of Doggie bags, trash can, tennis rackets and a bagillion tennis balls to play with. Plenty of chairs for long visit comfort, open area with green old trees and lush surroundings. Nearby trails make for extended afternoon adventures! Well organized venue that we highly recommend, and will definitely return when we are in town! read more

While out for a drive, after a walk, we unexpectedly came across this dog park. Took some time to check it out. Spacious - lots of room to run. Tennis rackets and a bucket of tennis balls available to use. clean drinking water available for pups. Poop bags available as well as some pooper scoopers. Benches in dog park for human companions. I'm not a huge fan of bark type ground cover; decomposed granite is easy to maintain and gentler on dog paws however a fun time was had. read more

Great park condition with fenced area. Lots of hiking trails in the surrounding area.

While vacationing in Cambria with my huband and our little girl dog, we found this dog park on Yelp and decided to visit yesterday afternoon. This dog park is located outside of downtown Cambria and has a little parking lot. I was little surprised that the place was empty when we arrived after 2 pm. But while we were there, eventually more people with their pups came (mostly large dogs). This dog park is separated with a side for small dogs and a side for large dogs. This dog park has no grass but wood chips/ tree bark on the ground (little bits of it can get caught in between your dog's paws, like it did for our little girl. Or maybe she just wanted to bring back a souvenir). During our visit, we found out that this one man donates the wood chips from his company for free for this dog park. In the large dog park section, there is a few trees along the fence that offers a little shade. There are some metal benches and chairs along the fence. There is also tennis balls with some tennis rackets in a bucket in case your dog wants to play fetch (our little girl doesn't really respond to that game). There is also water available and a poop bag dispenser. We were not in the small dog park section (although our dog is small), but the small dog park section is a narrow strip with a little shade from the trees in the large dog park area. There is also water cooler available for your pup and only two small chairs on this side. For a real dog friendly city, I guess I was expecting this dog park to be bigger and grassy (especially since this part of California does not appear to be affected by the drought like So. Cal). Overall, this park is just average. Some of the dogs and owners that came by were friendly. But do have to mention that there was this one man with 2 large dogs that was here. He did not do a good job at regulating his dog at all. His dog just jumped all over me and our little girl dog and was aggressive (I grew up with dogs all of my life and I understand when dogs just want to play, especially at a dog park. But if you know that your dog is aggressive, keep better control of your pet). I suppose just because someone is a dog owner, it doesn't mean that they are responsible and conscious of their dog's behavior around other dogs.... read more

although my doggie loved being there there were risks involved with aggressive doggies and water contamination that was not good for his health. If he was sturdier then we would have continued. The road was terrible and messed up the underside of my vehicle with mud and bumps and dips. I also smashed the back of my car on the lower rusty fence so that wasn't fun. The park is well maintained and divided in 2 areas: smaller and extra large. There are balls and rackets that we loved playing with. Lots of mutt mitts and secure gates, bark pieces on the ground and responsible pet owners all day long. We definitely miss playing there.‍ read more

While this city is definitely dog friendly, there are very few areas where dogs can run leash free. Located just outside the northernmost part of old downtown Cambria, the park is located by following a curvatious road until you find yourself surrounded by farmland and fields where hawks lazily circle the sky, and giddy wild turkeys hide in the surrounding trees and shrubs, only giving away their secret hideaways by an unexpected yet charming gobble gobble. The golden rolling hills, pines and oaks that encircled the area are serene. This is a welcome answer to us visiting dog lovers. Completely fenced in and gated, the park has one side for big pups, a smaller side for small. Landscaping is exclusively tree bark on the ground, no grass to mow. There are no trees, but probably not missed since you are enjoying the ocean influence. There are lots of benches and chairs, and many well used and soggy tennis balls and frisbies left behind to play fetch. Parking is a dusty parking lot. Along the fence hang more than a few simple dog memorials dedicated to those pets that left us humans behind. I liken it to stuff your precious children made when in kindergarten, with a name, paw print and some pretty stones pressed into rounds of plaster. And then there is the solitary wind chime with a bell that happily responds to the urging of the gentle ocean breezes. This is a magical place for me and Lilly pup. I encountered only friendly dogs, friendly owners, and responsible locals who took the time to keep the place clean and supplied with water and poopie bags for the next visitor. Thank you City of Cambria for this clean and thoughtful park. read more

A nice space but I wouldn't bring my dog back. The mulch they put down on the ground contained sharp sticks, one of which punched clear through my dog's foot. I understand not wanting to water grass in a drought prone area, but mulch is a terrible alternative to sand. We had to take her to the ER to have the stick removed! read more

Correct address: Friends Of The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve 2563-3199 Rodeo Grounds Rd Cambria, CA 93428 United States Maps will take you somewhere different just head west down burton (from chevron corner) and take the right fork at end of the road(yellow dog sign) Small fenced woodchip area, with a section for small and big dogs, plus it looks like your dog can be off leash on the surrounding park area. Lots of parking, potty potty, and trash cans. Does the job, lots of tennis balls and each side has a water station. Some aggressive dogs there so I would avoid bringing reactive pets during peak hours, but I also only went on a Saturday afternoon. read more

Dog park # 52 for us in 4 years. Excellent dog park with great attention to detail and cleanliness. Separate area for little dogs and all dogs, double gated, trash, water, fresh bark chips yesterday, tennis balls and racquets provided as well as benches, nice dogs, nice people....and a lot of parking. Beautiful setting on the edge of town with hawks flying overhead. They have a nice handle on membership although you do NOT need to be a member to go (we are not, we were welcomed). read more

This place is great. We bring our dog here twice a day when we are visiting the area. I think some of the bad reviews may be referring to the old dog park that was in a completely different location. Other reviews complained about the lack of grass but the bark chips are a smart idea. No need to water bark chips and I guarantee the dogs don't mind. There is no shade but Cambria only gets hotter than 80 degrees 10-15 days per year. There is fresh water. There are poop bags located throughout the park. There is ample parking. All the locals and their dogs are super friendly. People have left tennis balls and racquets so you can wack balls for your dog or your kids to chase. The large dog area is huge and the small dog area is more than adequate. We love this place so much we asked how we could donate even though we live 200 miles away. read more

Cambria is just beautiful! This dog park is no exception. Wood chips blanket the ground with a few patches of weeds. The middle of this acre of land looks very worn from happy dogs chasing balls over and over again. Ten benches surround the park as well as a picnic table. Adjacent to the big dog park is a small thin dog park for smaller dogs. There is no running water, but they did have a large water jug for pups to drink. It is obvious that this park is well cared for. They do supply poop bags. We came here around 9:30 in the morning and there were 7 dogs in the the big area and a couple small dogs in the small area. Our dog had the best time running around. It was nice that there was not any muddy areas. read more

Cambria Dog Park - Buster enjoying Cambria's dog park. - Dog Parks Near Me - Cambria, California

We had been camping for close to a week and the dogs were so ready to stretch their legs and run. This dog park appeared like an oasis at the end of Main Street and was just what we needed. Annie, our Cairn Terrier was delighted to find many balls supplied. The two Cavaliers aren't into balls but they truly love to chase Annie as she zooms after a ball. This park seems to be well cared for with an active participation by locals. Rumor has it that a new park will be coming to town. My guess is that there are plenty of dogs to go around. read more

Maps takes you somewhere completely different. Depending on which way you are coming from you are going to make a left or a right on Burton towards the hill. The road forks. You should see a sign of a dog, but if not, you go to the right and down the dirt road. In about 500 feet you will see the park. read more

This review is for the Cambria Dog Park -- the name on the page isn't right. I've been here several times with my dog. He's a bit shy, so it's perfect that there are two areas for playing, and often it's pretty quiet. There is seating on the large dog side, with plenty of balls and launchers. The small side could use a few more amenities, but it seems that many people bring their smaller dogs to the large side. People are friendly there, and the dogs have been friendly with us, too. This is a great park! One issue that knocks at least one star for me. There is SO much dog waste, especially in the small area. How disappointing!!! Today I saw at least 10 piles of it in the small dog area. This is pretty unacceptable for me. Many of the people visiting the park are either just passing through and perhaps have no community sense, and many are dog owners that are physically incapable of staying with their dogs and cleaning up in the outer reaches. Also, many people do not leash their dogs from car to park, and often leave the gates open. Which brings me to another point, and this is for Cambria in general. There is a serious off-leash dog problem in Cambria (and other beach towns here.) There is an awesome dog park available if your dog loves to run. There are some beach areas that are available, too. But there are unleashed dogs in every park, every beach, regardless of the rules or laws. Doesn't matter if you holler "it's okay, he's friendly," as your dog barrels toward a leashed dog, because dogs on leashes being approached by unleashed dogs, rarely goes well. And there's that dog poop thing. If your dog is off leash in an unconfined area, 90% of owners don't pick up after them. I see it every day. There is literally dog droppings on the beaches. read more

While we were traveling along the central coast of California we needed a place for poor Jasmine to frolic. Jasmine is about 3 years old and is a boxer-shepherd mix. She is not overly socialized and has demonstrated some anxiety at times when in the company of other dogs. This Doggie Park was right on the mark. Several other dogs and their humans were at the park when we arrived. The humans were almost as friendly as the dogs, and before long, jasmine found herself with 5 new playmates. The humans sharing the space with us were friendly, encouraging and made all 3 of us quite welcome. There are huge containers of water available for dogs but none for humans, although really, they should be smart enough to bring their own! There were also doggie doo bags. The gates were perfect in their system of having 2 gates to corral enthusiastic humans. Er, dogs. All too soon it was sunset and time to hit the trail. A good time was had by all and I look forward to taking advantage of this wonderful play area again when I have a canine in tow in the vicinity. The only reason I am not giving this facility its final star is that I didn't see any shade for humans or canines. Perhaps it is never overly sunny. But I don't think so! Excellent place to romp. Woof! read more
