There's lots of parking and it's away from main roads which is convenient for having dogs and exploring with them. The park itself is beautifully maintained with a large wrap around walking path, tennis and basketball courts, a kids jungle gym and the small & large dog areas. They're also putting the finishing touches on some new pickleball courts. From the dog areas, you can sit on one of the benches and feel the coastal breeze while enjoying views of Morro Bay rock. The dog areas also have grass, which is uncommon for this area but a total treat! We visited on a Sunday and it wasn't too packed at all, which was really nice. My husband and I and our fur babies absolutely LOVE this place. 5++ stars!

There are covered cans for storing water (stocked by volunteers) to give to thirsty dogs in the provided bowls. The park was created with donations from various community businesses for materials, tools (rakes and shovels), and landscaping. The community board encourages people to adopt a plant on the perimeter and water it when you go. There aren't many places nearby where dogs can run off-leash, and it's very sweet that the local community has pitched efforts together to create and maintain this cute little dog park.

Locals call the park, Pirate Park, due to the child's pirate ship play structure and nautical theme. The park is two acres advertised as having a children's play area, picnic tables with BBQs, green lawns, public parking lot (2), fish washing station, boater side dock with pump out for waste and access to fresh water, public restroom with showers, walking path towards the waterfront shops, boat launch, and stairs accessing the mud flats. The boat launch parking lot is not free anymore. Effective March 2026, ya gotta pay. Pay varies based on lot size. You can pay daily or get an annual pass. But it's free to launch your boat if that's any consolation. If you're looking for a place to launch your personal crafts (small skiffs, kayaks); this is the place. There are two parking lots. One on each side of the park. The lot furthest south has the boat launch and the lot has spaces large enough for trailers. Plus I gotta comment on the children's play area. It's not a typical park like playground, there are no swings or play equipment. They do have a sand filled area with a mini pirate ship and cute nautical themed concrete statues (octopus, seals, whale tail). Apart of the Central Coast Dog Park Alliance, this is one of nine semi-private dog parks that request a daily $1 fee or $30 annual fee. You can pay online or in person and of course, it's on the honor system. So don't be a jerk. When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon the park was lively. A few labs and golden-mixes in the big dog section and three or four smaller pups in the small dog section. We appreciate the double gated entrance to prevent any escapes and all the signage reminding folks on the rules. While we keep potty bags on hand, we noticed the several maintained stations that offered these freely. It's clear this park is well taken care of by it's patrons and volunteers. Everyone there was pleasant, kind, and very in tune with their dogs. We appreciated the level of care and consideration everyone had with their dogs and their interactions. It made a slightly nervous mom a lot more relaxed. There was plenty of shade, trees to sniff, and toys and water bowls. Basically everything you could possibly need! While we were only there for about 10 minutes we will certainly be returning. It's also very nearby to the 46-West if you're on a wine adventure with your pup and need to give them a good break.

It is all thinner pieces of bark, which is pretty standard for this area. Let's talk about the location. It is absolutely perfect. It's just a few minutes from the coast so it's super breezy and refreshing, and the weather is great every time we visit. It's also located a minute away from lots of cute shops and restaurants in Cambria! Always enjoy taking my dogs here!!

As I opened the second fence to let him in (while my dog was still on leash) the big white dog rushed in and attacked my dog I had to pick him up and the dog started jumping on me as we exited the gate. The owner said it had never happened before that he is aggressive in bark only. While I was getting in my car to drive away I heard her say "oh she's not even going to walk her dog" ummm no lady I'm going home where I have a yard and no risk of random attack. My dog is very social and was at doggy daycare daily when we lived in city, so wanted to try it out. My dog was okay just a little shaken up but these public places run the risk of irresponsible dog owners and aggressive pets that maybe aren't accepted at daycare programs.

There are plenty of benches through the park (and that are actually clean/not gross), so you can sit and enough watching your dogs play. Everyone Is much nicer here than the dog park in Templeton, so I always enjoy going here. We usually go into the small dog park since all of my dogs are from 18-32 lbs and they always have an absolute blast. One of my dogs love to play catch, and the small dog park has a ton of room for her to run around. The dog park is fully bark so there is not any grass, but that's pretty normal and my pups don't seem to mind one bit. Highly recommend this dog park for your pups!

It had a playground, restrooms, big green lawn areas, parking lot, and walking paths to the wetland and beach access. I was quite impressed with the green lawns. A lot of room to run amok. And the Morro Rock impressively stands in the background. Gorgeous! Can never get tired of that view. Another thing to note is that the park has no trees. This was done on purpose. The omission of trees was done per guidance from the Coastal Comminssion to protect the wetlands. Being from the Central Valley, the weather is much hotter and a park without trees is unimaginable. But the lack of trees at Cloisters Park didn't make my visit less enjoyable.
