There's lots of parking and it's away from main roads which is convenient for having dogs and exploring with them. The park itself is beautifully maintained with a large wrap around walking path, tennis and basketball courts, a kids jungle gym and the small & large dog areas. They're also putting the finishing touches on some new pickleball courts. From the dog areas, you can sit on one of the benches and feel the coastal breeze while enjoying views of Morro Bay rock. The dog areas also have grass, which is uncommon for this area but a total treat! We visited on a Sunday and it wasn't too packed at all, which was really nice. My husband and I and our fur babies absolutely LOVE this place. 5++ stars!

There are covered cans for storing water (stocked by volunteers) to give to thirsty dogs in the provided bowls. The park was created with donations from various community businesses for materials, tools (rakes and shovels), and landscaping. The community board encourages people to adopt a plant on the perimeter and water it when you go. There aren't many places nearby where dogs can run off-leash, and it's very sweet that the local community has pitched efforts together to create and maintain this cute little dog park.

Concrete picnic tables and sitting benches are available. Restroom facilities are near by. The parks department keeps them clean and presentable. A sand filled playground is equipped with concrete sea animals, walls, and a ship to climb on. The City of Morro Bay Playground Rules stipulate the play area is intended for use by children ages 2 to 5, but with concrete play structures, be very vigilant with their climbing and jumping around. Children must be supervised by an adult. Tidelands Park offers a beautiful view of the harbor and Morro Rock with a symphony of sounds by Mother Nature and her seagulls, otters, other visitors, and water movement playing in the background.

You can pay online or in person and of course, it's on the honor system. So don't be a jerk. When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon the park was lively. A few labs and golden-mixes in the big dog section and three or four smaller pups in the small dog section. We appreciate the double gated entrance to prevent any escapes and all the signage reminding folks on the rules. While we keep potty bags on hand, we noticed the several maintained stations that offered these freely. It's clear this park is well taken care of by it's patrons and volunteers. Everyone there was pleasant, kind, and very in tune with their dogs. We appreciated the level of care and consideration everyone had with their dogs and their interactions. It made a slightly nervous mom a lot more relaxed. There was plenty of shade, trees to sniff, and toys and water bowls. Basically everything you could possibly need! While we were only there for about 10 minutes we will certainly be returning. It's also very nearby to the 46-West if you're on a wine adventure with your pup and need to give them a good break.

It is all thinner pieces of bark, which is pretty standard for this area. Let's talk about the location. It is absolutely perfect. It's just a few minutes from the coast so it's super breezy and refreshing, and the weather is great every time we visit. Everyone Is much nicer here than the dog park in Templeton, so I always enjoy going here. We usually go into the small dog park since all of my dogs are from 18-32 lbs and they always have an absolute blast. One of my dogs love to play catch, and the small dog park has a ton of room for her to run around. The dog park is fully bark so there is not any grass, but that's pretty normal and my pups don't seem to mind one bit. Highly recommend this dog park for your pups!

Overall, was a bit disappointed with the upgrades they'd done to the dog park. It is fully fenced and has completely separate small vs large dog parks which is good. But for the amount spent, I was expecting there to be a much larger grass areas and generally a bit larger of a park for the large dogs. The grass area in the large dog park is in the middle and the majority of the park is actually bark and small rocks, which isn't great for the pups' paws. There are benches throughout and water stations for the dogs which was good to see. They've added some obstacle courses for dogs to play on, which was fun. However, I strongly disliked that I saw folks come in to bring their kids to the dog areas and obstacles like it was a kids playground (which clearly it is not). Generally, from what I have seen thus far, most dog owners are friendly and self aware of their dogs' behaviors which is always great to see. Nice upgrades overall just was expecting a bit more but that's okay. Still a great place to take a walk and enjoy the lake views or go to the dog park!
