So it is true, you gotta come here when it's low tide. We were defintiely the tourist in this area celebrating Thanksgiving with an airbnb. This was a nice walk from our place, parking is limited but you can defintiely find parking there or on the street. Low tide was super fun, you can go out left or right at the bottom and just explore. Once every 20-30 waves, a giant one came in and locked us on a ledge for a few minutes. Fun to experience. You can't pick or take anything so be careful of that. We originally wantes to throw a football around and there is defintiely no spot to throw it unless you want to lose it oceanside. The top doesn't have any spots you can really play either but it does have a nice bench. Side note, didn't realize that walking down another mile up the road we passed by like 4 small beaches, defintiely a local thing, with 2-3 parking spots.

So, not really a park, but a place with a few parking spaces and a couple dirt paths to the ocean front. There you will find a couple benches, perfect for gazing at the ocean or waiting to see an evening sunset. There are steps down to the water near the benches. Very, very rocky and I mean large, somewhat hard to walk on uneven rocks. When the tide is out you can see all the tiny hermit crabs scrambling about in the tide pools. Too cool!

One of three benches overlooking ocean.

Located in Cambria, Lampton Cliffs is a small, 2.1 acre, San Luis Obispo County Park, with an oceanfront location that somewhat compensates for its size. A steep, but well-maintained, set of wooden steps leads to its beach, a place more suited by its coastal crags and lack of sand to tide pooling than sunbathing. Still, it's a pretty piece of oceanfront, and three well-placed benches on the cliffs are ideal for calming ocean contemplation. Lampton Cliffs County Park can be found in Cambria at the corner of Lampton Street and Windsor Boulevard. A convenient dirt parking lot can accommodate several cars, with a short trail branching off from there to the beach. Worth visiting if you're in the area.

Basically an empty lot overgrown with shrubs and gopher holes. Seemed to be used mostly as a dog walk for the people renting cliff houses along the streets here. There is a wooden path down to some tide pools ( when there is low tide). If the tide is in, there's nothing intriguing about this park. Plan accordingly.

High tide : don't take that last step!! LoL

There was sand but also beautiful rocks that we all enjoyed playing in. The waves were extremely large and gorgeous. There was a sign that said no lifeguard on site. Overall it was a great experience for all of us, and we would love to return for another day of hanging out!

I've never needed it, but I'm glad it is there. Beach access is down some stairs that can be hard if you have mobility or balance issues. They are sturdy, and if you are able to navigate them slowly, it is worth it. The beach itself has driftwood that has washed up, and other beach-goers have fashioned into makeshift structures that are fun to explore. The sand is soft, and has tons of rocks and pebbles to investigate. As the name suggests, there are moonstones to find, if you have a bit of luck. Several times when I've visited, I've found these transparent clear and purplish/blue velella velella all over the shore. Other wildlife seen at this beach include moon jellyfish, sea lions (off shore), pelicans, seagulls, cormorants, and cottontail bunnies along the cliffs. There is a creek outlet that washes into the sea that can be a bit stinky, and tends to make traversing the beach hard past that point. Also along the water's edge, there can be some unstable sand areas, so tread carefully. This beach tends to have a nice breeze, and is refreshing even on hot days. If you are in the area and you can find parking, check it out!

There's public parking dotted here and there and we've never had trouble finding a spot. Some of the cliffs have been eroded over time, along with the stairs and beach access points. There are also several areas blocked off to inhibit foot traffic and encourage plant growth. It's a great place to stroll, or take your leashed pup for a walk. The clear sunny views are breathtaking and the morning fog captivating - you'd be hard-pressed to have a bad weather day here!
