What was actually installed. If you look at the sticker, you can see it's been re-stickered and not a new light.
Jon W.

Good at dragging it out but never fixing the problem. Morris pools 1st pool job that consisted of a plaster, tile and pump replacement went well. I chose to use them again and the service was far from my first experience. This time I needed a pool light replacement and the pool pressure washed and cleaned. The light they billed me for is not the light that they installed. The Hayward light I was billed for won't be honored by warranty because it's been re stickered. And the light had issues from day 1. When I call Morris he says he will fix it and make it right but never shows up. The pool pressure wash and clean they did left my pool with a long rust stain running out of the jet because they didn't do something as simple as stuffing a piece of cloth in the jet so rust wouldn't drain out of the line onto the only one year old replaster job. Very disappointed with Morris pools and will not use them or recommend them to anyone!

A Pool Experience That Stands the Test of Time…read more Selecting a pool company can be daunting, but choosing Pulliam Pools Houston was one of the best decisions we've made. Their long-standing history--founded in 1918--and their friendly, knowledgeable staff gave us the confidence we needed. Construction on our pool began on July 30, 2019, and just 30 days later, it was fully completed, including the deck. We've been enjoying it ever since! The quality and craftsmanship were outstanding from day one. Even more impressive is their ongoing support. Over the past six years, Pulliam has consistently provided excellent service, whether for rare warranty issues or minor post-warranty repairs. They've always responded quickly and professionally. Everyone we've worked with has been wonderful, but we'd like to give a special shoutout to Robert and Sean--thank you for making the experience smooth and enjoyable. We are so glad we chose Pulliam Pools! The Smith's, Richmond, TX

Pulliam presented me with a design that completely displayed the backyard oasis I had been imagining. From design, to permitting with my HOA, building on an extended patio with a wet bar and vaulted tongue and groove ceiling, the dig, the gunite, plaster, filter, heater/chiller, adding lights and ceiling fans, tile, coping, water features, decking, updating the existing patio, outdoor kitchen, swapping out existing windows in my house with French doors and even last minute changes that just happen when a woman is involved....Ha ha! The communication was impeccable. Even with weather delays they finished earlier than I expected and almost to the day of the quoted lead time. The craftsmanship and quality execution by their crews is fantastic. Robert basically held my hand every step of the way. Shawn, the owner, made it very clear that my satisfaction was paramount. The entire team went above and beyond to make the process as seamless as possible. I am so glad that I selected Pulliam Pools. I would do it all over again with this team.

**Beware of long review on why not to hirer Backyard Innovation**…read moreOn 12/20/2020 I signed a pool construction contract with Backyard Innovation Pool Company owned by Kris and Christy Macri. What I thought would be exciting 2-3 month constructions project became an expensive year long nightmare. During the first week in March they had the gas, internet and electric companies come out to survey my backyard and mark the location of lines. Excavation commenced on April 3, 2021 but was halted same day because Kris and Christy failed to properly locate the electrical line prior to excavation and a line was almost damaged by the digging. This was red flag number one. Excavation was completed on April 20, 2021 after having line re-routed. Then for the next 8 months there were multiple delays, excuses and request for more money above the contract price. Red flag number two came during the months of late April through August 2021. During May we possibly had above seasonal rain fall which delayed progress but my problem with Kris and Christy was how they prepared and managed for it. They did not properly cover the site nor continually pump out the water to keep the area dry. It led to a cave-in where the electric line was re-routed and left the re-routed line exposed. They didn't actually come out until I sent a video of frogs using my cave-in mud pond as their singing grounds throughout the night. Afterwards they came out to evaluate the dig site and pump out the water. Not much happen after this point except mid-June I met with the Kris and Christy to discuss the lack of progress and my concern for the integrity of my pool. At this point they stated it would cost me additional $12,000 to fix the cave-in but they were willing to pay half. I agreed to this because I just wanted my electric line protected, the contract did not address this explicitly and I wanted to expedite this process. They boarded up the side wall of the pool about a week later, but minimal work was done on my pool for the next month in half. I sent multiple text to Kris and Christy about the lack of work on the steel frame and plumbing. I got multiple excuses on why no crew was working on my project. Also complained that the recently fixed cave-in seemed to be worsening again along with what little steel and plumbing work that was done was now floating in water from rain. Again excuses. I was told things would move more smoothly once the gunite was poured. Red flag number three occurred on August 20, 2021 when they started pouring the gunite. What should have been an one day task turn into a 12 day project. It led to gunite on my patio roof and the end protect was poorly done with uneven walls (see pic). Red flag number four, during the September and October not much progress occurred but got multiple excuses. Though they requested more money, stating the cost of the tile and decking material had gone up due to COVID. Also they inform me, my pool equipment/pumps were still on backordered. At this time, I asked why my material and equipment hadn't already been ordered at the time I signed my contract and selected my material back in December 2020 and January 2021 which should have locked in the prices. You guess correctly more excuses and blame placed on COVID. Like an idiot, I agreed to the price increase in material because I just wanted this to be over. Mid November they started tiling my pool. I was told they would complete tiling, the plumbing (without the equipment) and electrical portion over the next week. Of course, this did not happen. Final red flag, it took 2 weeks to complete the tile. The plumbing was completed a couple days before Christmas which left by backyard and front yard a mess and the electric portion was never completed. I sent a text to Chris and Christy stating how my front and backyard was left. For a couple days I received no replies but then receive a text on December 17 from Kris that all of his crews are off till the 2nd week in January and he would have the cleanup done in the 2nd week in January. I replied it wasn't acceptable but never received a reply. I decided not to let this ruin my first Christmas with my family since the COVID pandemic and will deal with it after Christmas. The next time I got reply from Kris and Christy wasn't until January 12, 2022 after sending two text for updates after the New Year. Surprise, again they asked for more money to complete my pool. It would have been a 32.9% mark up from the contract stated price. I would like to point out the fact that on my same street another house had started building a pool in earlier November 2021 and completed it by Christmas. At this time, I reach my endpoint. I decided to fire them and involve a lawyer. A little late I know. It took me a while to find a company willing to take over the project for liability reasons. Luckily a pool renovation company was willing to take over my pool project and started work mid-March 2022. Since then, they have found

**Buyer Beware** Kris Macri and his team at Backyard Innovations built a swimming pool at my house…read morein Richmond, Texas. The project started in late 2020 and completed memorial day weekend. I never had any issues contacting Kris during the building process. Once the pool was completed, we noticed that the pool deck was cracking and there was a large discrepancy in the plaster color/shading (within 1 day of pouring plaster). We notified Kris and he said he would take care of it in the "off" season when we weren't using the pool as often to swim. He told me he would drain the pool, acid wash the plaster and then re-fill the pool in hopes this would correct the discoloration in the plaster. He was also supposed to send his crew back out to repair the areas where the deck was cracking. I have been trying to schedule a follow up with Kris since the beginning of October and he has only replied once (10/18) telling me was going to check with the plaster crew. I have followed up with calls and text messages weekly since then and never got any reply since October 18th. Per his contract the plaster and decking are covered under his warranty so the fact that he is not communicating with me is very frustrating.

There are many great aspects to this project, and here are a few things that we value the most. Jim has extremely strong knowledge about engineering-side pool construction. From pool drainage systems, in-floor cleaning systems, flow control systems, all the way to wireless app control. As first-time pool owners, we are lucky to have Jim explain everything about the pool to us multiple times throughout the process. He also provided the designs and timelines that fit perfectly to our budget and expectations. As we iterated 10+ times on the design over a short timeframe, Jim ensured a well-communicated, smooth and timely building process, his design is truly beautiful, even more impressive considering his deep engineering knowledge. We had a tropical storm at the beginning of the project, followed by extremely hot weather for a month. Jim definitely put his best effort on this pool, he checked in almost everyday during construction, gave multiple updates throughout the day at important steps. He went above and beyond with our drainage and built an extra thick pad for the pool equipment. Jim didn't sacrifice anything for the best quality of the pool that Pools Plus can offer. Another big thumbs-up to most of Jim's partners: these sub-contractors are awesome! They worked hard and fast while minimizing expected messes; Jim is frequently on-site QC-ing nearly every aspect of the build, and any requests/corrections are promptly actioned. We owe our backyard haven to Jim's experienced design, aesthetic, and practical recommendations - he's a rare breed of expert whose professionalism is apparent from his communication, knowledge, accountability, and high standards.

However, Jim (owner) and Chad (foreman) did their best to work through the issues, and the final product is awesome. From the first day I called Pools Plus, Jim was accessible and responsive to my questions and requests. This was very important as I was working out of town for most of the construction phase. Jim is very knowledgeable on pool design and code requirements and makes sure he exceeds safety and design standards. We use the pool almost every day and have invited many friends over to enjoy it with us. They all say how amazing it is. We have a resort in our backyard and Pools Plus made it possible. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Jim and Chad. If I ever need to build another pool in the Houston area, Pools Plus will be my first call.

This is an email I sent to the owner:…read more In regards to your activity of pursuing payment for the services rendered, I understand payment due upon completion of services, however your constant attempts to collect, by the way services according to your invoice ended at 12:36 yesterday, 4-12-23 is very obnoxious. You have called numerous times and I was either at an appointment or with my doctor and I could not pick up your call. You have sent emails and text messages as well. Now I paid your first service invoice promptly. I've owned 2 businesses in the past, to harass a client if past history is paying his obligation timely is not good business. I'm telling this to you from past experience. I'm not sure if you've had difficulty in collecting from other clients for past services or not however I pay my bills. Now, Pete, your technician called me prior to servicing my equipment and sounded very professional and courteous. However upon completion there were a few balls which were dropped. You graciously removed the charge for the pool cleaning. As I mentioned before greatly appreciated. The reason I waited a bit before remitting payment is simple, the pool water was green when I arrived home yesterday and the pool service had been completed. I ran the pool pump overnight to see if it would clear up which it has to about 90% clear. So, as I am sure you are as busy as I am throughout the day time is a commodity I cannot waste. I have numerous phone calls, emails and text messages coming in and going out that I have to deal with in regards to the facility that I am in charge of but that being said your payment is on my list and as I told you earlier in a phone call, it will be submitted to you by the end of the business day, 4-13-23. Payment was submitted to this business 4-13-23, my trouble with this business was how the owner was harassing me for payment less than 4 hrs after they finished the work. I used their services 2 weeks ago to diagnose an issue with my pool filter and they were paid the next day. So for the owner to call me numerous times, to text me numerous times to send emails numerous times was pretty obnoxious. He was paid the next day for the previous service and was paid the next day for this service, which by the way was over $700. In addition they told me they would be on site Tuesday at 1000 hrs, they showed up at 1800 hrs. No calls, no texts saying we are running late. I understand things come up but communication is helpful. So would i recommend them? I hate to see any business fail but encourage your customers to return not leave an never return.

They are just contractors so they hired other companies to come out here and take care of each of those components. they were too remove the current calcium line first from the rock outline (from my understanding that can bead blasted or another assortment of ways) and then re-stain and seal. But they did not do that they just re-stained it so where the calcium line was before the paint is not sticking. It apparently has a two-year warranty but I have called several times trying to get in touch with somebody and on one occasion I got Letty to answer the phone and she advised me that the company they used for the Boulder stain only speak Spanish so she would call and talk to them for me. But I have not heard back I have been following up for over a year with this issue. There's absolutely no customer service they will not call you back or email you back if there's a problem. So your warranty is basically null & void because you cannot get in contact with anybody. We had them servicing our pool once a week but literally the guy they would send would come out check the chemicals empty the skimmer baskets and occasionally vacuum the bottom of the pool. But he never brushed or kept up with that calcium ring where the waterline is so that ring has just grown out of control again. And I had to remind him when it was time to clean the filters because they had not clean the filters either. So we canceled our weekly service because we just felt $170 was not worth the lack of care for our pool.

He's been flexible with our timing, had a very well thought out pool and construction design (our house is mostly geometrical so we scratched the initial design I brought to him and went with his geometrical design as well as went with his suggestion to have a retaining wall built so that the structural integrity of our pool is not compromised). When you meet Chris you'll notice that he is very knowledgeable about what it takes to build a quality pool. There are many small things that Chris has pointed out that I'm sure any other pool builders would have missed (like pouring the gunite first entrance step one inch lower to compensate for coping, pouring the second step wider so that the overlapping coping doesn't shorten its width and makes it shorter than the other steps etc). We are very happy of our current build (still in the plumbing phase) - I will update this review with pictures of the finished project once it's done! Have already started recommending him to family members who will be building a pool soon and recommend you give Chris a shot too.
