Can't speak for the food because I didn't get to try it. But we made a quick stop here (small 7minute wait to find parking) just to get a milkshake and we were not disappointed! The peanut butter cup and chocolate/banana shakes were amazing! It has a great view of the beach and if you go around 7 you may even get a great sunset view! Service was quick and shakes were delicious. We'll have to come back to try the food in order to give it 5 stars.

Located on the rear side of the restaurant, this bar shares the same drink menu, so you're getting the full experience before you even sit down. The bartenders were attentive and kept things moving despite a pretty packed crowd -- impressive given how busy it was. Service was quick and efficient, which made the wait fly by. We tried two cocktails -- the Big Bad Bloody Mary and the Beachcomber Cocktail. The Bloody Mary was the clear star of the show. It came loaded with crab, shrimp, pickled olives, carrots, and beans -- practically a meal in itself and absolutely delicious. The Beachcomber Cocktail, on the other hand, was a bit too sweet for our taste, so if you prefer something more balanced, you may want to explore other options on the menu. Drinks are on the pricier side, but honestly, the location justifies it. You're paying for the ambiance as much as what's in the glass. Bottom line: A fun and lively spot to grab a drink before your meal. Skip the Beachcomber Cocktail if you're not into sweet drinks, but don't leave without trying that Bloody Mary -- it's a standout.

The crowd was very snobby, somewhat older (which we liked) but not sure why older people would feel the need to be so pretentious. And I'm talking about the men. Lol so don't expect gentlemen here. Staff was very friendly, drinks were good, but my order came out wrong with chicken which I don't eat. I ordered blackened salmon as an add on to my vodka sauce pasta dish I ordered. $30 was reasonable for my pasta as it was just ok but $30 for my blackened salmon add on which was overcooked and dry was not. Flavor was good though. I didn't mention it because I didn't want to have to wait yet again for another salmon and be bothersome to the bartender. I guess there is usually live music or a dj but the person couldn't make it so to a family emergency. Not sure I will be back. We'll see:)

The Seafood Tower was fresh and impressive, perfect for sharing. The Shrimp Cocktail was classic and well-executed, and the Asparagus Tempura was light and crispy. The Mini Crab Cakes had a great amount of crab and weren't overly heavy. The New England Clam Chowder was rich and comforting. The 22oz Bone-in Ribeye was definitely the highlight--perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. For sides, we had Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Sautéed Broccoli, Rosemary Garlic Wild Mushrooms, and Creamed Spinach. All were well-prepared and great for sharing. We ended with their signature Warm Butter Cake, which is a must-order--crispy on the outside, soft and buttery inside. Great food, beautiful ambiance, and excellent overall experience. Perfect spot for a special occasion or a nice night out. Would definitely come back!

I enjoyed sipping my martini while looking at the gorgeous sunset. Pro tip: I make a reservation early (like 5 or 6pm depending on the season) to ensure I get to see the sun setting. The service is always top notch. My cocktail was fruity, sweet, and strong. However, I was slightly disappointed with the food. It was too salty. The butter cake made up for it. It's always decadent, heavenly and the vanilla ice cream and fresh fruit balance it out nicely.

To put it simply: this is the kind of place Laguna has been missing. From the moment we walked in, the energy felt dialed-in in a way that immediately reminded me of a Hillstone experience -- polished but not pretentious, lively but still intimate. That balance is incredibly hard to execute, and Nix nails it. For context, I'm part owner of 230 Forest Avenue, so I don't say this lightly: Nix easily lands in my top five in Laguna Beach. We started with Aperol spritzes (perfectly balanced, not overly sweet), along with a couple of appetizers -- including a fried asparagus dish that was addictive in the best way. Crisp, flavorful, and gone way too quickly. For mains, I ordered the veggie burger, which was genuinely one of the best I've had -- hearty, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully constructed (not an afterthought, which vegetarian options so often are). My boyfriend had the noodle salad, which was fresh, vibrant, and layered with flavor. But beyond the food, what really stood out was the overall experience. The atmosphere feels intentional , great music, beautiful crowd, and a buzz that makes you want to linger. It's the kind of place where dinner effortlessly turns into drinks, and drinks turn into "should we just stay a little longer?" Laguna Beach doesn't have a ton of restaurants that hit this level across the board -- food, service, ambiance, and energy, but Nix absolutely does. We'll be back, and soon.

Then came the artichoke appetizer and the soup of the day... and honestly, I could've stopped there and been happy. But we powered through like professionals and went for a late lunch entrée, the Chilean sea bass- and WOW. Worth every bite. And shoutout to our server and the entire staff, total pros. Super polished, attentive, and clearly know what they're doing without being over the top. If you're looking for amazing food with a cool, laid-back vibe, Nick's is your spot. Just come hungry... and maybe wear stretchy pants.

Do I hate paying for bread? Yes. But was the butter amazing? Also yes. We ended up trying 3 different butters: black winter truffle, olive oil and lemon, roscoff sweet onion. All of them were honestly awesome. The onion was particularly good and the truffle had good truffle flavor without being overwhelming. Dishes I ended up trying: -1/2 Dozen escargot cannelloni - this was so interesting. It wasn't my most favorite thing but the flavors were good and worked well together. I probably would just prefer the standard escargot. -Short Rib - this dish is PERFECTION. My god, it came with robuchon style potatoes, which are a PAIN to make if you ever do decide to try to make them yourself. But oh my god, they were so good. I could sit and eat a tub of these. Everything was delicious and everyone in my party left with happy stomachs. There's valet parking but it's pretty easy to find parking in the parking lot for self-parking. You might walk a little further, but no biggie. You probably need the walk after consuming this delicious meal. Our server was also pretty awesome and explained everything on the menu well as well as offering suggestions. I did ask some questions as whether I could sub out anything and she was quick to say since everything is made to order/fresh, they could always offer substitutions on anything they make.
