The first visit the restaurant was mostly empty. It's a large restaurant - Our server was good, and we immediately ordered the chicken Alfredo pasta and chicken tender salad. I forgot it came with complimentary croissants topped with honey butter, de-lish and a treat! Food came out quickly and it was delicious- our favorite was the chicken Alfredo pasta. Large portion size, chicken was moist and tender and came with a piece of toasted garlic bread. The salad was good too, large size with tenders that were moist. On our second visit we ordered the chicken tenders meal deal and the lime chicken meal. Both items came with two sides, for an affordable price. Portion sizes were great and again chicken was moist and tasty. Overall we will dine here again when we're back in town. We were surprised by the fast service and good food!

If you are looking for that elusive intersection of "quality" and "value" in the Bluegrass region,…read moreCheddar's Scratch Kitchen in Danville remains a powerhouse of casual dining. While many chains have moved toward "heat-and-serve" models, Cheddar's maintains its reputation by prepping the majority of its massive menu in-house, from hand-breading the chicken to whisking the honey butter for their iconic croissants. Located conveniently in the heart of Danville, this location strikes a perfect balance between a lively sports bar vibe and a cozy family eatery. The interior is characterized by warm wood tones, high-backed booths that offer genuine privacy, and a signature "great room" feel. Whether you're stopping in after a Centre College game or celebrating a family milestone, the atmosphere is consistently welcoming and unpretentious. The menu is expansive, but there are a few non-negotiables that we had that define the Cheddar's experience: The Honey Butter Croissants: These are more than just a starter; they are a cultural phenomenon. Flaky, warm, and glistening with a sweet honey glaze, they are the ultimate way to begin the meal. Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders: These are arguably the gold standard for casual dining. They are never frozen, hand-dipped to order, and served with a signature honey mustard that has just the right amount of tang. The Monte Cristo: For those seeking a decadent indulgence, this sandwich is a masterclass. Smoked ham, turkey, and two cheeses are battered, fried golden, and dusted with powdered sugar, served with a side of raspberry preserves. Santa Fe Spinach Dip: A local favorite for sharing, this dip is creamy, loaded with flavor, and served with chips that actually hold up to the scoop. Homemade Chicken Pot Pie: A massive, flaky crust hides a savory interior of tender chicken and vegetables--the ultimate Kentucky comfort food. Unlike many establishments where sides feel like an afterthought, the options here hold their own. The Broccoli Cheese Casserole with its crunchy topping is a consistent winner, and the Southern Green Beans offer a nostalgic, home-cooked flavor profile. One of the most impressive aspects of the Danville location we found is the efficiency. Despite being a popular hub for both locals and travelers, the staff is remarkably attentive. The "made-to-order" nature of the food rarely translates into long waits, and the price point remains one of the best in the region for the portion sizes provided. You can't talk about Cheddar's without mentioning the Painkiller. It is served in a massive glass with a limit of two per person; this tropical blend of rum, cream of coconut, pineapple, and orange juice is the perfect weekend "reset" button. I recommend it if you are a connoisseur of mixed drinks. Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen in Danville isn't just a "chain restaurant"--it's a reliable local staple that respects the art of the kitchen. If you want a meal that feels like a splurge but fits a modest budget, this is the place to be.

One must adjust expectations depending on the situation. I had the chicken souvlaki platter, which is essentially a kebab. It comes with a nice fresh Greek salad, rice, and tzatziki sauce. Not exactly juicy, not exactly dry, but not bad. My companion had the mousasaka, which is layered eggplant, potatoes, and meat sauce topped with Bechemel cream. Also comes with rice and the salad. We also had the fries, which are not the typical you see in Greek restaurants. Rather than the crispy crunchy fries with the golden outside, these almost seem air fried. But they were light and airy and we enjoyed them. This restaurant also serves gyro, falafel, spanakopita, hummus and pita, a Greek burger. The reason this place is called Greek-American is because they also serve cheeseburgers, fried chicken, fish, Reubens and BLTs, steaks, salmon, etc. I wish they would focus on just Greek food and make that better, but I understand that is probably tough in a place like Danville. They probably have to have other cuisine options to stay afloat. The service was very kind and attentive and the restaurant is super bright and clean. My friend said it was better than the last time she ate it. She also agrees that this is a, "good for what it is" selection.
