They offer a build your own option as well where you have quite a number of other options of meats and toppings. I have to say the wings were perfectly fried. After trying my husband's salt and pepper wings I ordered the Blackberry Habanero for myself. They had a very nice sweet flavor. I requested a side of the sauce to dip the wings because I really wanted more of the great flavor! Finger licking good! It was a real nice day so we chose to sit in their outdoor area which is covered by triangular canopies. There are picnic style tables and an area for kids to play. Very comfortable area. Our server was great and very attentive. There was no long waits for anything! If you enjoy a good hotdog like I do I recommend you try here. Boonedogs is a local, friendly bar and restaurant that specializes in gourmet hot dogs. We've been here twice and both times sat at the bar. The bartender is very nice and always super busy, running things very efficiently. We weren't initially given a seasonal menu, but she made sure we had one and good thing, as we ordered a couple of things from it. We started with Cocoa & Coal (Hot chocolate and bourbon) and an Apple Pie Cider. Hubby ordered the hamburger melt (holiday item), which was kind of like a patty melt. I did a build your own hot dog (ketchup, mustard, picked red onions, pickles, relish, cheddar). The hot dog had a nice bite to it, the bun was soft and it was so big, I couldn't finish it. On a lovely (Saturday) evening we were ready to wait.... but got lucky with to seats at the bar. Katie was bartending and keeping up well on a busy night. A Lions fan with a nice personality. She took our simple order... asked what was our choice of a side... which we assumed was included... but no. Sides were extra$$! My yummy bratwurst was $14.00 seems a bit high priced. Slaw an additional $5.00 Beers $7.00 too. Long wait for the food... big crowd. Consequently the brat and burger and fries were lukewarm warm at best. Since my last update they have really expanded and improved their menu. They have added Wings, which are deep fried and delicious! I highly recommend the Blackberry Habanero BBQ sauce for a slow, mild sweet heat that builds up until it is hot when you get to your 10th wing. The Country Ham and Swiss sandwich is good and tonight I tried the Grilled Pimento Cheese Sandwich. I have to say that I am not a fan of their pimento cheese or their beer cheese. my first time coming here was in 2024 for a dog event they were hosting (pictured). i thought this was an extremely cute event and it definitely got us talking. my husband and i have come back many times since. classic hot dogs with fun modern twists is the best way i can describe it. our personal favorites are the pimento, the hot brown, the bratwurst and and philly cheesesteak. we love the appetizers too and the mushrooms are actually what inspired the review. i love deep fried mushrooms, they have been one of my favorite hotdog "add ons" since i was a child. a big problem i have with getting take out is the mushrooms will be soggy by the time i get home or to wherever i want to eat them. tonight we ordered boonedogs and asked them to double fry the mushrooms until they were crispy and they definitely did it! they came out absolutely perfect. their customer service is above and beyond. the atmosphere is really nice too! tons of outside seating and the location is far from a lot of heavy traffic/footwork. can't wait to come again! read more

I came here for the first time with my fiancé and my brother while they were both in town to visit me for graduation! We went to Ravens Run and had a great hike, it only made sense to get delicious hot dogs afterwards! It was quite busy since it was a weekend day, so just be prepared to wait almost an hour before getting your hot dogs. If you're anywhere near Lexington, Boonedogs is an absolute must. We showed up on a packed Saturday night during Cheer Nationals with a group of nearly 20--and somehow, they made it work. Kasey (GM) went above and beyond from the moment I called, setting expectations but clearly doing everything he could to take care of us. Even while we waited, he checked in constantly and made sure we felt taken care of. Then Mariah took over--and she was incredible. First I want to point out the good. The location is fun. You get to sit out side on pic nic tables that are spread apart anough that you are not crowded with other people. The atmosphere is what should bring you here. The service while we were here was not great. We waited over 30 minutes for two hotdogs and waffle fries. We ordered beers too, but they didn't bring those until they brought the food. The waitress apologized as they were understaffed on this day. We tried Boonedogs on a Thursday night. We get there a little before 8 and were seated quickly. We chose to eat inside since the outside area was pretty full and they were doing trivia night. We sat and waited more than 15 minutes and no one even acknowledged that we were there. We couldn't figure out if we were supposed to order at the bar or what. We finally asked someone how to order and was told that you should have a server. Once we finally got a server, she was nice and did fine. While we waited I was observing and one of the food runners was eating and playing on their phones and when an order would come up, they would just get up and take the food. No hand sanitizing or washing. The other was also on their phone. Several of the food workers were also using their phones while on the floor, again no hand washing or sanitizing. We finally got our food after already being there for over 45 minutes. And it was, just ok. We both ordered a Boonedog and fries. The bun was fancy but other than that I don't think it's worth $10. It didn't even have onions on it like it was supposed to. The waffle fries came out lukewarm at best and were hard and over cooked. They are advertised as crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, but that's not what I got and I paid an extra $5 for those. Our server apologized at the end of the night and it was appreciated but I don't think we will be back. A really fun spot! We brought out of town family here for a kid-friendly dining spot and it was a great evening. We sat outdoors which is a large fenced in area with picnic table style dining tables. It's great for kids with lots of space to run around. As a vegetarian it's great to see they have a meatless option of a "beyond sausage" which freaked me out a bit it tasted so much like meat! There were a ton of topping options & I went with pickled jalapeño and grilled peppers which were great additions to the dog. Everyone enjoyed their meal! My fiance and I were on a road trip from Indianapolis to Atlanta so we were passing through Kentucky and looking for a lunch spot with vegan friendly options. Let me tell you, we were SO glad we stopped at Boonedogs. We both got build-your-own Beyond sausage dogs that were absolutely amazing but the highlight by far was the pretzel sticks. These were probably the best soft pretzels I've had in my life and I absolutely housed them. They also had a delicious variety of mustard dips which made it even better. It honestly made me sad that I don't live in Lexington so I can eat here all the time. Also, the service was incredibly friendly, the food was fast, and the restaurant was super cute. The Fat Man and his wife met with my father and his lady friend at Boonedogs for a pleasant outdoor lunch. Boonedogs serves handmade all-beef hot dogs, happy hour food, great cocktails, and live music. We started with the Boone fries. These fries are made with waffle fries, tomatoes, jalapeños, bacon, sour cream, cheese sauce, and green onions. The waffle fries were cooked well, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The bacon was crispy, and the onions and jalapeno added a nice spicy note. The cheese sauce was tasty and creamy with a touch of sweetness, and a proper amount covered the dish. The tomatoes and sour cream offer a coolness to each bite. The Fat Man tried the Hound Dog, made with JIF peanut butter from right up the road in Lexington, KY, and homemade bacon jam. The peanut butter was creamy, and the contrast of stickiness to the salty hot dog worked well. The hot dog casing has a good snap; it was juicy and cooked well. The Texas toast bun was soft but had a nice toast on it. The bacon jam was sweet, again contrasting the hot dog and adding to the peanut butter. My only knock is that the bacon jam needed more bacon in it. I was looking forward to the bacon taste and crunch for texture, but there wasn't that much to be found. My wife sampled the Corn Dog. It had good batter and crunch on the outside of the hot dog. It had a little sweetness, which worked well. The hot dog was again cooked well with a good snap to the casing. However, mustard stole the show. It tasted homemade and thick enough to coat the corn dog, adding a pleasing tang to the bite, and packed some great flavor. Boonedogs have a vast outdoor area, and they allow your pups to come there with you. They have a full bar and serve beer, including their signature beer, the Boone beer. Love this place! Great spot for outdoor seating with lots of space for kids to run around or to bring the dogs. A friend and I came by after hiking at the Pinnacles in Berea. We ordered Boone Fries to share and they were excellent after hiking food. The waffle fries were perfectly crispy and covered with cheese, green onions, crumbled bacon and jalapenos. So good! We also ordered a ranch dog and a pimento dog. We split each in half so both of us could try. Both were good, but after the hike and scarfing down the Boone fries I think I preferred the ranch dog. The ranch dog was a little lighter with the slaw and some waffle fries on top. The hot dog was nice a juicy and the bun was the perfect thickness. As for the pimento dog, that was cheesy and I really loved the flavor combination with the pickled onions and the fried green tomatoes. The pickled onions had a nice spicy bite too. I stopped in with a friend on a Wednesday night for dinner. The parking lot was packed. It was a beautiful day and there are plenty of picnic tables outside as well as indoor seating. There is a reasonable bourbon selection as well as cocktails. There are a few local beers on tap. I ordered the Hambassidor. An all beef dog with ham, bacon jam pickled onions and yellow mustard. In my opinion the yellow mustard was too much and too strong. It over powered the rest of the flavors, so I ended up scraping it off. The waffle fries were basic waffle fries, but fried up crispy. My friend ordered the wild game platter that had duck, deer and wild boar along with an assortment of sauces. The duck was AMAZING! By far my favorite, but the others were good as well. We visited Boonedogs for lunch today. The waitress was very friendly and made recommendations about her favorite menu items. We placed an order for sodas (and if you ask nicely they will give you a half regular/half diet soda!) and my husband ordered a corn dog, bratwurst, and Boone fries (with beer cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream), and I ordered a build your own and a side of ranch slaw. The dogs were huge! My husband loved his brat and corn dog, and I liked my dog, too, but too many toppings made my bun fall apart. I didn't care for the slaw, but my husband liked it. He also shared his fries with me. That is true love! We loved the friendly atmosphere, as well as the portraits of the owners' dogs hanging on the wall.
