This is a place for sushi. The other dishes are ok, but the sushi is fantastic. Eel roll, salmon roll and soft shell crab were fantastic and fresh. The service is awesome.

I was craving for Japanese food in Mexico City and then there was Morimoto in my hotel. I was skeptical at first. But then if it is owned by the Iron Chef how bad can it be. So went in and I realized there were more options than just sushi. Yes they serve Teppanyaki, sushi, tapas and more. So we ended up sitting at the Teppanyaki table. There is no show for the Teppanyaki. Just watch the guy cook and that was about it. No jokes and nothing to make you laugh. Kind of boring. I got the Striploin steak and it came with 6 different kinds of vegetables. It was pretty good. Striploin was huge. My colleague liked spicy food and he got pepper dip. He said it was super spicy. On top, I got ice tea and lemonade. Good drinks. In terms of decor, the place is pretty nice. The lights are dimmed so it has that cozy feeling. Pretty fancy looking and good service. It's located inside the Camino Real Hotel. Yes they speak English or have someone there who speaks English so its all good. Overall. .... Good food.

I was so excited to try this place but what a disappointment. We arrived early so the place was not busy but service was mediocre. To start, outside I saw on their digital menu that they have carpaccio and once we sat down, they informed us that they no longer offer that. So please update that! Then I ordered their gyoza. Just ok. Then I ordered their fish that was mediocre as well. For a fancy place I was really disappointed. The place looks nice (1 star) and my apple martini was delicious (another star) the rest Was a disappointment.

Good service. Bad food. I couldn't wait to try this restaurant. I'm a Japanese food fanatic ! Some of the plates like the octopus carpaccio I couldn't even finish it. Worst ever in texture and flavor. The salmon sashimi was't even in good temperature it was warm We pay 2,600 for 2 persons. Very disappointed

Looks good but the calamari tastes really BAD! DO NOT ORDER! Tepura calamari quinoa salad

I came a few times two years ago and missed it ever since. I went there yesterday right after checking in hotel at 10:20. I know it's close to the end of the operation hours but a great restaurant won't have variable qualities throughout the day. First I had 12 piece sushi - it was okay - probably worth 3.5-4 stars. Miso soup with clam - 2 stars. Soup was not tasty and clam wasn't fresh enough. Now comes a disaster - tempura calamari quinoa salad: vegetable/ quinoa were fine but the calamari is extremely greasy. I feel it was pre-fried and then fried again when I ordered. I can barely taste calamari... This dish is 0 star and totally killed my willingness to go back to visit Morimoto.

AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COST!!!!!!! I wish I could give it 0 stars. Besides the soft shell sushi, everything was fucking disgusting and overpriced. I can't believe this restaurant is inside a 4-5 star hotel. It's better to go to Yoshimi in Intercontinental hotel even if it's way more $$$$ its 200x much more worth it. Lamb smelled and tasted like garbage d picked up from a trash land, also premade noodles inside a can from the shittiest convenience store would taste much better than this disgusting place.

Best sushi in Mexico City. Fresh and delicious. Sliders looked great so had to try them. Amazing... Inside the Camino Real Hotel.

The fake wagyu... I've tasted real wagyu and this dry bite sized piece of meat tasted like cold cheap steak.

I've always been a huge fan of chef Morimoto and have always anticipated to one day visit one of his restaurants. Finally the opportunity for me came to visit his location in Mexico City. I walk in with a group of 6 people, 3 of us got the set menu and 3 of us ordered separately off the menu. The reason for this 1 star is because nobody spoke English, it was a little difficult to order. The only reason why I gave 1 star was because the service was good, the severs were friendly and attentive into always changing our plates and making sure we had water. However, food took forever and once our 3 friends were finished with what they had ordered off the menu we still had 4 more courses coming. Rating the food off the set menu, fish was not fresh, rice was mushy, the wagyu did not taste like wagyu and what makes matters worse we see the chef scooping an unknown pink substance out of a bucket onto our plate and garnishing it... The tuna tar tar. This was just not what I expected, I would've rather ate at PF changs or Nobu. For the price of 1200 pesos set menu you would expect a little more then little bite sized portions of meat and warm rice. My 3 friends that ordered off a separate menu got a piece of over cooked cold salmon, extremely dry and inedible. Chef Morimoto should really stop charging an arm an a leg for his food if he's just going to slap his name on an establishment and hire amateur chefs who can't even cook salmon...He can't even hire a wait staff knowledgeable of the basics of sakes and Japanese cuisine. To sum up my single star review I would just like to say I am a disappointed client and I don't plan on trying any of his other locations ever. Sincerely, Ex fan

I love this place! The restaurant is beautiful and has some cool modern decor. The food, tho, is really what it's all about. I've had the tasting menu 3 times and a la carte sushi once. The tasting menu is an incredible deal and really fun. It tastes great but is also fun and creative. Sushi was great too!!

Sake and beer!

I came here for my birthday because I love to celebrate my birthday with a great omakase. I have…read morebeen to the Santa Fe location before but since this one is the OG one I wanted to try this one. From the outside it looks like a cute spot from Japan which makes you feel like you teleported and the decor on the inside was very cute. The service was so great, everyone was nice and answered all my questions. From the moment I step foot inside they welcomed me in Japanese and Spanish which really gave to the teleporting vibe. The chef who did my omakase was so nice I wish I remembered his name but you can see him in the picture. His style of omakase was amazing and as we got to the end it just kept getting better and better. He had my dad and I saying "wow" over and over again. One of the courses that blew my mind was the fatty salmon nigiri with shaved frozen foie gras which gave it the perfect buttery texture wow. To top it off he gave us a Wagyu nigiri with uni on top which is literally butter on butter and I was so amazed. The other chef said wait till you try the eel with the foie gras and WOW like it just kept getting better and better. I left sooo full I couldn't finish my dessert even though it was delicious and I felt like I was going to explode so we walked around reforma. Some people think omakase will not fill you up but it sure does! Thank you so much to the team of Rokai for making my birthday amazing !

This place was an absolute hit. Some of the best sushi I've had in months…read more They have plenty of outdoor dining, and friendly, prompt service. They have a pretty extensive menu ranging from cold dishes like sushi to hot dishes like Ramen and rice bowls from next door. We started with two appetizers, the Gyoza and the Shishito peppers. The shishito peppers were excellent, and had a flavor I had never quite experienced with them before from whatever sauce they were made in. They were very delicious. The Gyoza was also very tasty, and had a hint of ginger that was a nice addition. For my meal, I ordered a bunch of pieces of nigiri. Every piece came out perfectly fresh and incredibly made, for an absolutely delicious experience. We finished off with the Matcha tiramisu, a dish I wasn't even expecting to be so incredible. I would love to go back for it, although frankly I'd love to go back to this place for everything I ate tonight. We also shared the strawberry mochi, which was so good we ended up ordering a second one. I'm already looking forward to returning here. All of this that I mentioned, plus the rice bowl that my cousin ordered, was only $80. It is pricey, but less pricey than I was expecting.

JAPANESE COMFORT FOOD - This is not a place you take someone to impress them. The service is decent…read morebut it feels like a fast food place. And it is. But still, you call for assistance by pushing a button and someone comes out to assist you and in that sense the service is generally prompt. The gyudon is their star dish, basically the dish that made Yoshinoya famous rules the menu. It's not gourmet by a long shot, but for those who like the gyudon at Yoshinoya (like my wife) this place is incredible. I also had the tonkotsu ramen. The noodles were thin and very soft, the meat was decent, and the broth was thick and rich, almost like a gravy, but with a rich proper tonkotsu flavor that is surprisingly hard to find in CDMX. As you eat it it goes down almost like dry ramen with added sour cream, which is my favorite form, so so despite the fact culinary elites may scoff at this place, my wife and I will be coming back regularly. If you know my system, any place I would return to weekly is usually an automatic 5 stars, but the yakisoba and the yakituri are a bit too sweet. Still if you stick to tonkotsu or the gyudon and you like this kind of stuff it should land nicely. It may move you like it did us or you may think not much of it but for us it's a win. Give it a shot and let others know what you think. Happy eating from John Seeto!

The restaurant locate on popular street. Very affordable. However, the food is just measure up on…read moretaste or seasoning. They do have good combo. We have the irresistible combo. This includes ramen, Karaage, rice, and a drink. The ramen is plain. The charshu is bad, the Karaage coating not tasty. With that said, they are not even close imitate the Japanese cuisine. Need a lot of work. Service is not much. It is order at counter and delivered to you.
