After eating tacos for every meal for three days, I needed something different. And being Asian from New York, I craved some Asian food. Let's just say that Chinese food is not easy to find in Mexico City if you're not looking for a buffet. We finally came across Ah-Un which is basically pan Asian. As a general rule of thumb, don't ever eat sushi at a place that has no customers. If the fish is not moving then you're asking to be sick. There was also a smell coming from the bar which smelled like old alcohol. It's not fish but it gives you an idea of the cleanliness. We decided to get the katsu don and the pad Thai. Two cooked dishes that seemed like a safe choice. The pad Thai wasn't bad. It tasted like the dish should taste and was a large serving. The katsu don was not as good. The katsu was dry and the rice was tasteless. I mean it didn't even taste like white rice. It just wasn't good at all. At the end, we were just glad to eat something other than tacos. read more

We ordered way too much food and I wished I had an extra stomach to devour all of it. I ordered the Rainbow Roll and he had the spicy salmon roll. Both were super fresh and delicious but not spicy at all. I also ordered the noodle soup which ended up being gigantic but the broth and noodles were perfect for a rainy day. They have a full bar including featured cocktails and beer and wine. The service is prompt and the food was high quality. You may think you shouldn't eat this while in Mexico given it isn't Mexican food but I think you should! Tasted just as authentic as a Japanese Restaurant in California! read more

Hidden gem in downtown near the Zocalo! I had dental work done so I was looking for something near my room and found this place through Yelp. The reviews were great so I gave it a try. The ramen was delicious! I also had a crab roll which was also great. The prices are very reasonable. The service was amazing, Gabriel was my waiter and was so attentive but not overwhelming. It was a perfect experience! I wanted to try the dessert but didn't have room since their ramen bowls are huge. I highly recommend if you're in the area! read more

First time here and the place didn't disappoint. The atmosphere was great, life music great customer service. Employees make you feel welcome. We were walking around center and found this little yummy Japanese restaurant. I ordered shoyu ramen which was delicious. I am a huge fan of eating ramen, I'd definitely come back for more ramen options. This little hidden treasure has good sake cocktails. Portions are big, pricing is ok too. The only thing I didn't love was the Viet spring roll. Tried the fried calamari, sushi and some katsu, it was all ok. read more

First impressions are everything... For my very first day in Mexico City for my very first meal-- I decided to eat at Uh Un. For the past two weeks, I've been on the road in Mexico and was excited to change my dining experience and eat Japanese food. Unfortunately, this experience would lead to Montezuma's Revenge. Mind you, I was traveling all day hadn't eaten anything or drank any water. I had the ramen and a single sushi roll, which tasted amazing. Overall the service was amazing and was really impressed with my experience, and this review does not reflect these. I've had food poisoning before and I can say for a fact this case was the worse. It was so bad that my hostel mate asked to change rooms cause I was vomiting and sh*ting so frequently and loudly. On my first night, I had to clean to hostel restroom and didn't sleep a wink. On my first day in Mexico City, instead of going sightseeing-- I have spent my day in a fetus position or coddling the toilet. Overall, my first experience of this restaurant has been completely god awful and my first food experience has left me to question all the food for my time here. Wasn't sure what to expect when you visit to a Japanese restaurant in a touristy area in Latin America but it was great! The ramen was way better than expected and sashimi was good (bro had uni and maguro). The house recommended sake cocktail was actually delicious (I usually am not a huge fan of cocktails - they tend to be too sweet and full of everything but alcohol). Americanized rolls are just meh, but that's to be expected. Great ambience and just off the bustling ave juarez. Very welcoming and attentive service too. read more

I was with my family on vacation in January and Ah-un was right around the our hotel in Zocalo. The food was good but the sushi was excellent! I have lived and visited Japan many times and the sushi here was on par with the sushi I've eaten in Japan. The service was great. Excellent prices too! read more
