Curry not authentic flavor and spices. Sashimi needs more daikon radish. My family and I went to eat there twice in our week trip to Mexico City because my daughter loves Japanese food. Waiters were not welcoming (Daikoku in Condesa) they gave the impression that they were bothered by us when ordering a lot of food (we were a party of 7 and it was not busy at all) specially when we said we wanted filtered water. In general, I would go here in future trips only because it's Japanese food but I understand the limitations on produce resources in Mexico, locals eat more meat, cheese, tortillas and frijoles but very little vegetables.

My wife, who is Japanese, thought that the tempura was expertly prepared. Batter was thin and the vegetables were crispy. The broth in the udon and the noodles were very good. We make it a family tradition to eat sushi in every city we visit. Being in Polanco, Mexico City's…read moretrendiest neighborhood, we assumed we were about to experience sushi greatness. To be fair--the quality of the fish was five stars. No complaints lthere.Unfortunately, that's where the smooth horse ride became a donkey ride. The service was a solid two stars. Our waiter was clearly trying his best, but this restaurant desperately needs another waiter. We waited so long for sauces that by the time they arrived, we were already halfway through the rolls. It took about 20 minutes for the first dish, and we ordered what we normally order for my wife and I and our 3 teenagers six dishes for five, which then arrived one... at a... time... with long, awkward pauses in between. The specialty rolls are teenie Weenie and very skimpy on the fish. One of my sons wanted another roll but not willing to wait. Best roll of the night was the Alaska roll--credit where credit is due. Now let's talk money. I don't mind spending on good sushi. I expect to. But $3,950 pesos ($232 USD before tip) for five people and leaving less full than a typical sushi night in Los Angeles? That one hurt. Back home, we eat for the same price--and we leave satisfied. Upside: only three green teas were ordered, but they were excellent, high-quality, and probably the most consistent thing all night. Bottom line: amazing fish, painfully slow service, small portions, and a bill that made us double-check the exchange rate. If you come here, drink a full glass of water beforehand to feel satiated--or bring a snack. I wanted to give them a three but I always do with my wife wants and she said give them a four to be nice.

BEST SUSHI I'VE EVER HAD…read more Does that above statement say it all? Surprising to me as well as we just stumbled on this place craving sushi. First you have to walk through a restaurant then go upstairs and enter a door with no labels or anything. Then you're greeted with a 13 or so seater along a bar. From there you have to go omikase and just let the chef take care of you. Most memorable item was the scallop. It was the fattiest, butteriest, sweetest scallop I've ever had. Do not skip this place while in CDMX.

They have a pretty extensive menu ranging from cold dishes like sushi to hot dishes like Ramen and rice bowls from next door. We started with two appetizers, the Gyoza and the Shishito peppers. The shishito peppers were excellent, and had a flavor I had never quite experienced with them before from whatever sauce they were made in. They were very delicious. The Gyoza was also very tasty, and had a hint of ginger that was a nice addition. For my meal, I ordered a bunch of pieces of nigiri. Every piece came out perfectly fresh and incredibly made, for an absolutely delicious experience. We finished off with the Matcha tiramisu, a dish I wasn't even expecting to be so incredible. I would love to go back for it, although frankly I'd love to go back to this place for everything I ate tonight. We also shared the strawberry mochi, which was so good we ended up ordering a second one. I'm already looking forward to returning here. All of this that I mentioned, plus the rice bowl that my cousin ordered, was only $80. It is pricey, but less pricey than I was expecting.

From the outside it looks like a cute spot from Japan which makes you feel like you teleported and the decor on the inside was very cute. The service was so great, everyone was nice and answered all my questions. From the moment I step foot inside they welcomed me in Japanese and Spanish which really gave to the teleporting vibe. The chef who did my omakase was so nice I wish I remembered his name but you can see him in the picture. His style of omakase was amazing and as we got to the end it just kept getting better and better. He had my dad and I saying "wow" over and over again. One of the courses that blew my mind was the fatty salmon nigiri with shaved frozen foie gras which gave it the perfect buttery texture wow. To top it off he gave us a Wagyu nigiri with uni on top which is literally butter on butter and I was so amazed. The other chef said wait till you try the eel with the foie gras and WOW like it just kept getting better and better. I left sooo full I couldn't finish my dessert even though it was delicious and I felt like I was going to explode so we walked around reforma. Some people think omakase will not fill you up but it sure does! Thank you so much to the team of Rokai for making my birthday amazing !

We chose this spot as it was not too busy but not totally dead on a Monday night which seemed promising. Although advertised, they were out of Modelo. We went with a Corona instead along with a shoyu chicken ramen and a tonkotsu pork ramen. We were informed there was no more pork and so ordered the chicken instead. The beer took a long while to get to us and the ramen was seemingly never coming. I even started looking up other nearby restaurants as I was getting hangry. The server did not come check on us or apologize for the long delay at any point. Finally, the ramens arrived and I was disappointed to see a very plain ramen served with no toppings. Very unfortunate as the broth and noodles were good! But the toppings were missed. After eating, we had to walk indoors to get someone to acknowledge we were finished and to pay and leave. Overall, the ramen has great potential but the service was extremely lacking.
