Aight aight, I got a little story to tell. Tldr this place is trash don't go here.
I try to be respectful and courteous when I criticize restaurants. My family has owned restaurants all my life, I know how hard it is to run one, and how very hard it to work in one. Also, I make sure to keep in mind that I am an American living in a country where people work very, very hard.
We were looking for a restaurant called Mog Mog. apparently it closed and reopened as this place, same menu, similar ambiance, "same" chef, worse food, horrible pop music, more expensive.
The other night we went to a different place called Mog bistro, that place was amazing, go there. We wanted to compare Mog bistro to its sister restaurant Mog Mog, but unfortunately found Mog Mog has closed and Au Yo Ma is in its place.
We ordered the dragon roll, spicy salmon don, pad Thai, the ume udon, a water, and extra wasabi.
When my girlfriend ordered the water they brought a bottle, which is of course fine, but we asked if we could have tap instead to reduce plastic. In response the waitress rolled her eyes and walked away.
Dragon roll was not bad. We asked for extra wasabi on the side which they told us was extra, which again is fine. But when they brought out three dishes of wasabi we said we didn't really need THAT much, to which the waitress laughed as she walked away.
The spicy salmon don was mostly lettuce and mayo. Like a lot of mayo. Like Paula Deen would be hyped to see this much mayo.
The pad Thai was bad. Not only was it terrible in comparison to Mog bistro's, I think it was more expensive too.
Ume udon was pretty damn tasty, but I found some egg shell bits in it. Not the end of the world but kinda gross, no?
The space was cold, the music was mind numbing American pop, the staff treated us like we were being monsters, and the place was empty (which I always feel bad about).
Also there was a pile of noodles in the urinal and that is never a good look.
I've heard the old spot, Mog Mog, was really good. Sad to see it resurrected as shambling corpse, maybe a spooky ghost at best.
Glad we snuck our own wine in. read more
