We progressed to a beautiful ride in the hills amongst cattle and wildlife. Susie was a remarkable guide. Susan had us meet at her facility and then we followed her trailer to the trail head where she helped us mount the horses. It was super fun and Susan keeps the ride entertaining. Her horses are fantastic and did not seem like they spooked easily. They were very used to cars, barking dogs, hikers, cyclists, etc. Susan also offered to take pictures of my friend and I when we stopped at a scenic spot.

Many of us Marinites have glimpsed it while driving down the 101. I started coming here with my dog when Shelter-in-Place went into effect. After a few months of walking my dog over and over again in my neighborhood, it was time to explore another area. So I figured, why not give Horse Hill a try? And I'm so glad we did. It's just a few blocks away from the freeway so it's super close and convenient. There's plenty of street parking in this sleepy Mill Valley neighborhood. And once you hit the hill, you'll be rewarded with spectacular views, beautiful nature + occasional wildlife, and a really good workout. It's nice to have a place that's so close and yet feels so far away. Cosmo (my dog) and I will be back soon to explore more of the Hill.

I did not see in any of the other reviews anyone mentioning the "Endor Flow Trail," which has been part of the Tamo loop for 3+ years. The Flow Trail is about a mile long and consists of roller coaster bumps and berms to rail. Tons of fun and a great way to improve your riding. Easiest way to access the Flow Trail is to enter near Brown's Bridge and climb Porcupine Trail til you see the single track trail on your left entering the Boy Scout property (B17 Trail). Gets 5 stars as it is challenging technically for most, has great views, and many beautiful spots to stop and and hang with friends. Hint: Unless you are there on extreme off hours, you should ride the loop in a clockwise direction. Since the Flow Trail has been installed, traffic is up. There has been a noticeable increase in riders coming from out of town in the last 3 years. Parking: Pay attention to signs that ask you not to park in their parking lots. A good place to park is next to Fairfax Cyclery near the Bike Museum.

This review is for the MTB trails on Camp Tamarancho, not the camp itself…read more It's a very challenging trail and I love it out there. Lots of bikers and not too many hikers. Beautiful scenery and mixed terrain. A lot of good people are putting in lots of hours to make this trail what it is. Especially for the Endor Flow Trail, which is awesome! Tips: - This is an intermediate/advanced trail. If you are a newbie, you'll probably have more fun at China Camp (which is also awesome). - You have to park in Fairfax and ride up. Don't try driving up the hill... it doesn't work. You can park in the neighborhood near scenic. I really like parking at Deer Park or further away and riding a bit before starting to climb, but that's just me. - Most people go in the clockwise direction. I recommend that! - Try the flow trail! Just remember to put your seat down. - Don't forget your pass. You can pick one up online or at the bike shops in Fairfax. - Be safe! I want to give it five stars, but I think I should leave that for Downieville, Northstar, Moab, Whistler, etc... when I make it to those places (eventually).

As many other Qypers explained, you rent a bike from Fisherman's Wharf and within 45 minutes to an hour you can bike it to the bridge and across. On the way you will see landmark such as Fort Mason or the historic airport Crissy Fields. Bikes are really expensive to rent (I paid 37 US$ for a decent one for a day), but it is well worth it. The point on the map highlights the starting point. of the trip. It vista point in Marin County, you can take the steps underneath the highwayand from there you have a very pleasant downhill to Sausalito. Some people take the ferry back to the city, but also going back by bike does not kill you.

Todd is the man, and his company is the place for off road and off the beaten path adventures…read more Whether or not you have an off road vehicle capable of some true trail and rock crawling and climbing, this is one outfit that can make it happen. Bring your own capable rig, or get one from Todd, either way your adventure is going to be unforgettable, and here are some reasons why. If you're not an regular overlander you'll either test your driving ability in his vehicle, or you'll test your own vehicle AND your abilities in one of the many canyons or along some of the jaw dropping trails and vistas throughout Death Valley. But at each stop you'll see amazing views and some wildlife along with Todd's insight and knowledge of the area, then handed a plate of an amazing chef prepared lunch, or quick snack while taking it all in. When i say snack, I don't mean a bag of nuts or Doritos, unless you want those things....I'm talking about a Chilled Citrus and Avocado salad, or Chilled Ahi Poke- while standing in the desert. Maybe some toast points and Albacore with Ponzu and crispy onions? What you don't get is an MRE in a box. I chose the Death Valley trip- I've never been there and was itching to get some desert night shots and get my Land Cruiser out into some real trails and canyon crawling. I thought my LC was set up for almost anything, but of course , i made of list of things i need after talking with Todd and doing some very cool trails and climbs- and of course setting up camp. Having a chef in tow is an amazing and relaxing- this is bougie and let bougie prevail once in a while- i'm in, all in. What's next?!

If I could give 10 stars I would!…read more Where to begin... 1. Todd Rogers was so great to work with through the planning process. He was extremely informative, very responsive and really helped me come up with the best plan for the time of year and what we were looking to achieve. Todd also made sure we were well prepared for the trip with equipment, safety considerations and other preparations. He was very attentive to make sure our vehicles and gear list we're going to work successfully on the trip. 2. We opted to have a Chef along with us and it was well worth the extra cost. We had some dietary restrictions and they were very accommodating. The food was excellent and very appropriate for the trip. In addition, Barron, the expedition Cook was also highly experienced in over landing and was also a firefighter/EMT and he was super cool. 3. OMG! Death Valley was the expedition we decided on and cannot express enough how stunning, diverse and beautiful it is. There were lots of surprises along the way and happy Todd waited to show us and share them. 4. Todd was extremely professional (but very relaxed and casual in his approach). We learned so much from a technical standpoint with off-road traversing in the vehicles, shared lots of his wisdom and knowledge about over landing, and was just super fun to hang out with! I could go on and on but this isn't a novel, it's a review :-) If you are looking to do an off-road excursion I literally could not more highly recommend for points adventures. Saw a lot of cool wildlife on the ride including a bobcat or a mountain lion cub everything was A OK but the horses could definitely tell there was a predator in the area so they were a little spooked. Had such a fun time I will definitely be coming back for the six hour ride!!!

Our guide Ramiro was great, he tested out our skills in the beginning before seeing we had experience riding and letting us take the leads during the trail. We also got to see dolphins! He told us in the 6years he's done this, this was the 2nd time he's gotten to see them. We ended up skipping the waterfall (couldnt get to it due to the tide anyways) and instead got to follow the dolphins! Highly recommend doing the wildcat trail with Ramiro! It is a 14mi ride, so be prepared to be in the saddle for a while. Experience is a plus, but Ramiro made sure everyone stayed safe and would always give pointers.

The course wasn't clearly marked by ribbons; as a result, the majority of the runners got lost. I turned around and backtracked to the starting line after I searched for the correct colored ribbons for about half a mile (which included a steep grade). There were a few groups of people lost at several junctions. I've done races that not only clearly marked the correct trail, but also had the wrong way marked to ensure that runners didn't make a wrong turn. The race director claimed that someone moved the ribbons. I wonder when the course was marked with ribbons and if the course was double checked before dozens of people were sent up the mountain. After the event was over, the race director sent an email offering all the participants a 10% discount, which means I could save about $4-$8 off a future event the next time I want to risk getting lost again due to lack of planning. No thank you. One of the reasons I pay for events is so that I don't have to worry about mapping out the course.

I've run two races organized by Urban Coyote Racing - the Rodeo Beach Rumble in April 2016 and the…read moreChina Camp Challenge in February 2018. For the Rodeo Beach Rumble, I'd have given Urban Coyote Racing three stars; but for the China Camp Challenge, Urban Coyote barely deserves even one star. To be clear, I don't expect much when I sign up to run trail races. The post-race food and drinks are great, but the main thing I want when I pay to run in a trail race is for the course to be well-marked so that I don't have to map out the course beforehand and so that I don't have to pay a ton of attention to the trail posts while running. I just want to be able to follow the ribbons that mark the course and run. The Rodeo Beach Rumble was fine. I'd had better experiences running trail races organized by Coastal Trail Runs and Enviro-Sports, but my experience wasn't bad, either. The course was marked well enough (though I'd wished that there had been more ribbons -- there were some stretches where I started to get nervous because I hadn't seen a ribbon for a while), and they had really good banana bread at the finish area. The China Camp Challenge, however, was an awful experience. Several miles into the race, runners found that the course wasn't marked correctly, and we could no longer follow the ribbons. The map of the course that had been provided by Urban Coyote didn't provide enough detail to make it easy to run the course without the ribbons, so a bunch of us ended up just backtracking to the start/finish line. When some of the runners told the race director that the course was no longer marked, the race director brushed off the runners, saying something along the lines of, "Oh, that's weird," and made no attempt to correct the course. The banana bread wasn't enough to make up for the fact that I'd paid $50 to run a trail race that I didn't get to run due to lack of oversight by the race director. In contrast, I recently ran a trail race organized by Coastal Trail Runs where some mountain bikers had deliberately moved ribbons or simply removed the ribbons entirely in hopes of keeping runners off of the trails where they wanted to ride. Once the race director found out about this, a young man with seemingly endless energy sprinted around the course to replace ribbons, redirect runners, and get everyone back on track. The race director then personally apologized to people at the finish area. The contrast in how the two race organizers dealt with this situation is stark. There are simply too many other race organizers in the Bay Area who put together well-organized trail races for me to ever consider participating in an Urban Coyote Racing event again.
