    Shakshuka

An upscale gastropub that is still warm and friendly, as opposed to being pretentious. The kitchen is always putting out new items on the menu, along with some standards like truffle french fries and their hamburger. This was my first time doing brunch. I ordered an Americano and a Shakshuka. Service was friendly and efficient. The Shakshuka was delicious, spicy tomatoes, sweet peppers and onions with just the right amount of spice in the sauce. Some green mixed herbs on the top were slightly bitter and complimented the sweetness of the tomatoes and the perfectly soft poached eggs. Four quarters of a grilled flatbread finished off the dish perfectly, for dipping in the yolks and sauce. The Americano was strong and bold. All in all, a delicious brunch at a not too expensive price. It's nice to know I can go here on a quiet Sunday for some good food

Nice neighbourhood spot for meals all times of the day. Tried Morgans for both lunch and dinner. Lunch - Shakshuka: Really great poach on the eggs - firm and runny at the same time. The tomato-based sauce was also really tasty and not watery. - Dirty Bird Sandwich: Chicken was nicely crunchy, though just a bit dry. Good portion size. Dinner - Mussels: Fresh, generous, tasty. One of the dishes I liked the most. - French Onion Soup: Pass on this one. I'm a cheeseaholic, so don't like French onion soup where the cheese is on the bread that sits on top of the soup. Hardly any cheese here. - Morgans Burger: Good size, generous cheese, tasty side fries. The burger patty was a bit more well done than I'd like. - Shortrib Beef Ragu Rigatoni: The beef shreds were tender, the ragu sauce was just the right level of tasty-spicy. Dessert - Sticky Toffee Pudding: Really sweet. If you like toffee, you'll like this. I personally liked the side icecream better. - Mums Trifle: Interesting jelly-like texture. Morgans seems like it can be a shape-shifter, good for couple dates, families with kids, and friends drinking the night away. Can see why it's popular in the area.

Nice neighborhood restaurant with decent selections of craft beer. They have Very cozy, inviting and comfortable atmosphere. Try their own labeled lager on tap ($7) which is very tasty and would pair well with any food on the menu. Ordered Eggs Royal($20). Generous amount of smoked salmon & their home fries were excellent! My poaches eggs were slightly over- done & hollandise sauce was super thick but it was delicious overrall. And portion size. Wow. My friend ordered fish & chips. She could not even finish half. I managed to finish everything on the plate but was really stuffed after. They have a couple of booth seats available and music is not too loud, if so you want to take your date/friends to a unpretentious place to have a nice conversation with good food & drinks, This place would be it.

This place is awesome. We've come here a few times now. For dinner and brunch. The menu changes slightly every so often. Still have yet to order something that isn't good. Everything that we've tried here is amazing. This Turkey is a hidden gem. Lots of various tasty options make this a great spot to go either on a date, bring your parents to, or any other occasion. You may have. It has a relaxed casual atmosphere, the staff is nice and welcoming, and the food is delicious.

My favourite neighborhood restaurant!!! It's the only "classy" restaurant in the neighborhood. Great wine selection, excellent service, 5 star food at reasonable prices. Locally owned and managed. Executive Chef (Wataru) is beyond talented and likes to mix it up. Traditional steak entrees, homemade burgers and homemade burger buns, homemade fried chicken, homemade pasta (they recently even bought a pasta machine). On Sunday's they have a traditional roast with Yorkshire pudding and all the fixings $29 and is HUGE! HAPPY HOUR DAILY 4-6pm $6 wines and draught beer.

Great little place on the Danforth. Walked in and was greeted with a smile and catered to not long after. The ambience is nice and the food was amazing had the lamb and french onion soup. All staff were extremely nice kudos to customer service, other establishments should learn from them. All in all very satisfied with visit after finding them on Yelp.

We had the smoked salmon, avocado with fried capers on a bed of mixed greens salad and green goddess dressing. Delicious

For my first visit I had a great time, the staff was amazing, food was delicious and the drinks wonderful. The prices were average for each dish. We would definitely visit again.

Looks small from the outside, but inside is surprisingly spacious. There was even a small patio with a few tables out front. Heading inside, a sheik pub atmosphere welcomed us for Summerlicious. We were seated at the back on the upper level. We checked out the drink menu and I was impressed; they have a great variety of beer! There were many beers I'd never seen before and some usual suspects. They love sourcing locally, but they also embrace the lesser known imports. My aunt tried the Spirit Tree Pub Cider and I was going through Mill Street Organic withdrawals, so I had to have my favourite! Let's get to the knitty gritty, the Prix Fixe. When it comes to app, all I needed to see was the word 'tostones' and I was sold. Managua style Ceviche on Tostones was our selection. I don't think there was any tilapia in there, but there was a LOT of shrimp. The citrus flavours gave this an airy feel. Could've been a few more chips, but this was a great app. It wasn't heavy and filling, it was just enough to stop the hangry. For our entrees, I chose Gaucho and she went with Southern Comfort. The Southern Comfort consisted of chicken and ribs with a delightful coleslaw and hushpuppies. A beautiful dish. The chicken batter was crisp and not greasy. The ribs were seasoned and sauced to perfection. The meat was juicy and fell right off the bone. To balance the savoury meats, the honey vinegar coleslaw was the perfect side. My steak was cooked to order and came with shoestring french fries. How often do you see those in a restaurant?! The chimichuri sauce was a shining star on this plate. The locally grown herbs complimented the flavours of the steak well. I wish I'd had more to dip my fries in. Dessert has arrived! My Aztec Brownie with Churros was enough to kill the chocolate craving. The churros were unnecessary. They were blah. My aunt enjoyed Oma's Peach Crumble Cake. The cake and crumble were not overly sweet, allowing the peaches to be the star. The service was great. They were really personable and easy to talk to. The manager made his rounds to make sure everyone was having good time. The timing of each course was perfect; they weren't rushing you, but they weren't letting you take a nap between. This place really has their act together! I'd come back to try their regular menu....I'm a sucker for a gastropub!

Without attempting to try to present a front of a time long gone, The Bovine simply exists today as it once did in that time long ago, before Smokes stickers, before iPhones, back when people would just go to a bar to talk with those they didn't know the morning prior. I mistakenly came upon Town Crier Pub due to some marketing miscommunication on my part. I saw a lovely lunch special sidewalk sign and thought it was for them, but it was actually for the restaurant next door! However, I was already committed, and I always loved pubbing. Opened in early 2011, it was named after the historical role of town criers who served as the primary news source in medieval times. With the general theme of Belgian and German styles, its owners believed that European beers and news were linked. Would I be crying in my beer at this pub for entering the incorrect eatery in this town!? PURCHASE(S) Hacker-Pschorr Munich Gold Lager Beer 5.5% ABV 20floz Draft ($11.50CAD): Golden amber color, aromatic malty aroma, low body, malty sweet flavor, clean smooth finish, and malty aftertaste. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=Oks3ELRLtUfkwpMwMfZ7YQ Town Crier Burger + Add Cheese ($17.00CAD + $2.00CAD): A simple burger made with prime rib beef patty, lettuce, pickle, red onion, and tomato on a lightly-grilled bun with an added slice of cheddar cheese, it was a sizable burger and did the job, but there wasn't anything special about it. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=XV6Yy6lwP5yngWkIFicroA [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 3.5 of 5.0 STARS] Substitute Onion Rings ($3.00CAD): A good side portion with many rings of generally uniform size, these were hot, lightly golden browned, semi-crunchy, and had a tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (not sweet Maui) pulled out at times. Although they were somewhat oily, they were good, and didn't come with any dipping sauce. Innis & Gunn Mangoes On The Run Fruited IPA Beer 5.0% ABV 20floz Draft ($11.00CAD): Dark strawberry color, fruity mango tropical aroma, low body, fruity hoppy mango sweet flavor, smooth finish, and slight bitter fruity mango tropical aftertaste. This was my favorite of the two for obvious reasons! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=_MZhEukjAcdC0Qfo4P2Kaw SERVICE I was happily greeted by a young host outside on the sidewalk who then directed me to a nice outdoor patio table perfect for people watching and the weather. He handed me a massive menu, supplied a glass of water, and soon enough I placed my order. My beers arrived quickly while the food took about ten minutes. He checked in often while we chatted throughout the time. It was a cool hang out for lunch - danke! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): I was in the area all day for the start of the Toronto International Film Festival, so I simply walked. Otherwise, there were spots along the main drag of John St. and all surrounding streets, some nearby structures, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A cozy snug layout throughout, inside had a loungey warm feeling with a focal bar with a few stools https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=LZIKI_6GFVgLIPXXkbrICA and many closed-in tables; whereas, the outside patio was less formal but equally compact. Inside was very ornate of Belgian and German styles, while outside was casual and simple. Minimal natural lighting entered inside through the few windows and door opening and of course plenty outside while dim electric ceiling and table lights filled in both areas. There were no TVs nor any background music because chatter was everywhere. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=bYpvTBTNnDqaLvrEqNtYtA ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Town Crier Pub had me laughing, talking, and people watching for a relaxing afternoon and would gladly return. The number of beers available both on tap and in bottles was insane and I loved it! The food menu was expansive. The food was fine but nothing special, and the prices were relatively comparable. But, it was the service and staff that literally reeled me in for a good time. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $50.00CAD BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... This was first on our list, located in the Scotiabank Tower on Adelaide. We got a nice corner table, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting, not too loud but not library-like either. The music, mostly UK fare like their cuisine, played an acceptable volume that my friends and I didn't have to raise our voices. We were seated very promptly, and our server took care to attend to my friend's allergy. She even asked to change my friend's cutlery when another server brought the wrong salad. My appetizer was a hot-smoked salmon pâté, which was ok by itself, but eaten with the pickles gave it that taste I wouldn't forget. I chose for my main the Petit Roast Dinner; the cut was excellent, full of flavour and juicy to boot. The gravy for said cut just brought the roast to another level. The sides were delicious as well, especially the crispiness of the potatoes. A clean plate was the end result! Finally to finish the meal, I chose the chocolate banoffee cheesecake - I never pass on any cheesecake when it's offered. And it didn't disappoint! The banana brûlée was an interesting touch, while having toffee sauce drizzled on the cheesecake was a first (and not definitely last) for me! All in all, it was a nice introduction to The Rabbit Hole, and I can't wait to go down there again!
