I went to Morelos about a year ago when they were having a grand re-opening (I think). They didn't have their liquor license yet so the place was dead, but the food was outstanding! I got enchiladas and I could hear them making the enchilada sauce from scratch. Great presentation and delicious. The other day I ordered steak fajitas and they were tasty! The meat was actually flavorful and crispy, unlike most restaurant fajitas that come out bland and rubbery. I ordered these to be delivered so the toppings were kind of a mess when they arrived but I expected that. Support this small business, especially now! read more

Not authentic Mexican food. Who puts mixed vegetables in their rice? Not any Mexican I know. It's absolutely absurd to sit there and have to dig out veggies from a chimichanga instead of eat it normally. Also, sopes are a fluffy spongey type of tortilla not just corn tortillas. Salsa Verde is so good you can drink it by itself. By the gallon. Roasted salsa is also very good. I had the enchiladas suizas and my lunch mate had the Zapata salad. Lettuce was fresh. Very large portion. Enchiladas we're creamy and delicious. Only complaint was the enchiladas could have been warmer. Our server was very friendly and attentive. read more

Had a groupon and decided to try a new place tonight. What I will say is great is the friendly servers. They were wonderful. The Morelo's sampler was definitely lacking unfortunately. It was some cheese which wasn't even covering the chips then a small spot of beans then lettuce and tomatoes on top. It wasn't appealing or appealing or appetizing. The one flauta wasn't great and was even limp and bent on the middle. It also didn't have a meat filling which is different than other restaurants. The buffalo wings were ok. I would recommend skipping this and saving your $. I had the Barbacoa and carnitas platter. The meat was pretty good. The lettuce was fresh and the beans were good. The rice I could do without, it was pretty bland. The tacos and tamale were good. Would do 2.5 stars for the food if I could. read more

We've been regulars for a while and the odds finally caught up with us. Last nights dinner left a lot to be desired. I ordered the Flautas Mixtatas and each was burnt and dry on both ends having sat in a warmer or oven too long. The meat in each one was dry and lacked seasoning. The sides of rice and beans was far to salty and the decried beans were so loose they ruined the plate. For such a likely busy dinner night (Valentines Day) there were only two servers. One hustled, the other was a bit too cavalier. Took a tag team approach to get the bill run and signed off. My wife's dinner fell short of her past experiences. The food was just at the edge of being sent back as it cooled too long before being served. We'll go back and hope that this was just a bad day. read more

More wait persons than customers on a Sunday morning and felt like it took forever to be waited on. It did take 20 minutes for 3 pancakes even when the 3 other customers already had their food. Pancakes used to be there specialty and were spectacular. Not any more. Better to stay at home and microwave some Eggos then to wait for some dried out, burnt, skimpy simply bad pancakes. I will continue to patronize for Mexican (their speciality) food. Take out only. This tiny restaurant is amazing! The Mexican dishes are the best we've ever had, and the portions are so generous. The waiter was so welcoming and attentive. If a waiter or waitress doesn't smile, immediately I am not happy. This waiter couldn't have been nicer and greeted us with a smile and happily took care of us. They had a BOGO Margarita deal that my husband and sister got and they both said they were absolutely delicious! Great authentic flavors and even greater portions. We decided to try Morelos as a new local spot for Mexican deliver. I gotta say, I did not disappoint. We ordered the Carnitas y Barbacoa and the Burrito Fajita for dinner. Across the board, the meats were fall apart tender and well seasoned. They're going to be prime leftovers for breakfast tacos. The only fault is that more fat could have been trimmed from the carnitas before leaving the restaurant. Overall, we definitely recommend this as a delivery spot for your next craving. read more

I don't know what happened with my meal here today. The last time I was here the burrito that I got was decent. What I got this time was quite literally the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten in my entire life. I got a chicken burrito which literally tasted like rancid fish and I had to take it apart to find out what made it taste so bad but I couldn't figure out what it was. Very good. This place takes it up a notch from Los Arcos that used to be at this location. They expanded and remodeled. You still know you're at a strip mall but the atmosphere is an improvement. We got there before six so where able to make use of their beer happy hour prices. The chips and salsa was excellent. Both my wife and I ordered the Tampiquena with my wife having the steak substituted with chicken. Food was very good, probably the best Mexican food I've had in the Twin Cities in recent memory. I had the right amount or heat for me, maybe a little too much for my wife. Plenty of food too, we both took leftovers home. I will be back. read more

The rice is the best Spanish rice in the state of mn. So moist and the tacos are bit difficult to explain. They are very good. Do you know how you eat a taco it pulls the moisture from your mouth because it's dry meat. Well not here, you get to enjoy the taste and get fed from the taco and not feeding the taco. read more

Under the old ownership the menu was a little larger but under the new ownership they have perfected the recipes. The salsas they bring with the chips are both super good. Food is decent. Service is not great. Water and coffee sit empty for long periods of time. When you order carry out it is not ready when they say it is going to be - in fact they started it when I got there and I had wait around for 15 minutes. And then they tell you they don't have what you ordered. They pick up the phone and put it down (not hang up, just put it down) without saying anything and never come back to the line. Seafood is really good!! I know that it is now under new ownership and management and it had been along time since my last visit due to Covid honestly really good Food and the waiter was very nice. We had ordered ceviche as well as the shrimp cocktail prices were a little high for the shrimp cocktail reaching about $18 But very well worth it as it was filled with a lot of shrimp! Stopped by for lunch. I wanted a vegan meal, so had rice and beans with salad, guacamole and corn tortillas, as well as the chips and salsa that comes with the meal. The salsas, one red and one green, were excellent--better than any I've had in town here. Everything was really good. Service was good. It was a working lunch for me and internet was fast, so that was great. My only complaint is that it's a bit expensive--but it was a very good experience, so I'm sure I'll be back. read more

This place had some decent Al Pastor tacos they were missing the yummy sides like carrots, radish, jalapeño, and the salas wasn't spicy enough. The service was pretty good and normal pace. Very unassuming from the front but now that they have been open for a while, the inside if fully established. Been here a couple times now and have yet to dislike something. Their horchata is house made and the BEST I have tried... EVER.... please, please try their horchata... Food is fast and delicious. Have tried their menudo, fried fish, sopes, a veggie omelete (also interesting to note-- they have pancakes!), and the cuban torta (something to rave about). Everything is very generously portioned and I have left feeling like a water balloon every time. Only because it is so fantastic do I insist on stuffing myself to that pathetic extent !! They charge for refills on the chips & salsa! Just beware-- they ask if you want more, and then a charge of about $3 for the refill shows up on your receipt. Went back to my old neighborhood to try out Morelos, and am VERY happy I did. I got a few different dishes to bring back for the family: steak fajitas, diablo shrimp, mixed flautas, carnitas platter, and fajitas quesadilla. Each dish was excellent. My husband loved the grilled jalapeños and raved about the rice. The flour tortillas as SO delicious - I wonder if they make them - they sure taste like it. Each dish was flavorful and fresh. We are already planning on heading back this weekend to try out breakfast and tamales. No matter what your taste, I believe you'll find many dishes to your liking. read more
