El Parian has some of the best Mexican food I have ever had!! This is a local gem in Little Canada that everyone should give a try. The service is great, the food and drinks came out very quick, and of course I can't forget about the free chips and salsa which is always a plus and so good!! There was a lot to choose from the menu. We started with a large corona margarita. For food, we got the Burrito Parian and Enchiladas Guadalajara which were both amazing! I highly recommend the Enchiladas Guadalajara. Overall El Parian was a great experience and I left very satisfied. I do wish they had a little bit better of an ambiance as personally I am not a fan of the LED lighting and it could improve the overall experience aesthetically. Good Mexican-American spot. If you're looking for authenticity, it might not totally hit the spot, but it's still delicious. Great Happy Hour deal for beers and margarita (-a lil under $9 for 32 oz marg) and the servers were all so nice. They bring the plate piping hot to the table. I ordered a 2 item combo plate with chile relleno made from poblano peppers and beef enchilada that came with rice and refried pinto beans. Food was okay, it's hard for me to judge chile rellenos in MN because I'm used to hatch green chile rellenos from growing up in NM, which is a more fragrant chile, but it satisfies my cravings until I can go back. Free chips and salsa were also provided and you can also order some queso with t as well. Overall, it's a spot I would go back to in the future. A typical neighborhood family Mexican restaurant. I visited today (Thursday) around 5:00pm. When I arrived there was one four with four guests. By the time I left an hour later, an additional fifteen gusts had arrived. They have a full bar and interesting drink menu. A couple near me had ordered margaritas. They were very large. The menu is fairly large and resonably priced. The complimentary corn chip and sulsa were ordinary, I certainly would not pay separately. I order the burrito en recon. The entree was well prepared, made with fresh ingredients, and reasonably priced. The only negative was that the steak strips were over cooked.. i asked to have chopped raw onions be added and that did not happen. Over all a satisfying meal. The two table side hot sauces were Valintinas and a Habinera. The Habinera had a hard kick of heat. The Valentina was less hot and very flavorful, still spicy but, in my view, very good. Sorry to say this restaurant has been declining for a few years now, possibly a change in ownership, possibly suffering from losses from a failed expansion, who knows. Food quality has gone down. Rice is flavorless, missing sauces, a chimichanga is a burrito covered in cheese whiz. No more hot sauces on the table. Guacamole is no longer fresh but rather discolored and soft like packaged guacamole that's been in the fridge for a while. Everything is under seasoned. The place was completely empty around 5-6 except for who I figured was a doordasher. It makes me sad to see how bad this place has gotten. read more

I've been eating here for a few months and figured it's time to do a review. I initially avoided it because my wife and a friend had a bad experience there. But everyone has an off day, right? Wife and I just got back from having lunch at El Sombrero. It's really a good Mexican Restaurant. Their salsa is pretty great, and the enchilada and ranchero sauces that come with some of their entrees are really flavorful and rich. I'm particularly a fan of their pork tamales, which come covered in the aforementioned ranchero sauce, as well as their enchiladas and tostadas. I really haven't had a bad meal there. Food was horrible, the cheese in the enchiladas tasted like cheese whiz and the red sauce tasted like canned not homemade. Will not go back.

I'm very frustrated with this place. It's one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, we got it the week after they reopened and called in the order. The order was not right when we got it and no one was wearing masks. We waited a few months if not longer before trying again and we put the order in using bitesquad because that's what they said to use on their Facebook. When I got there the manager took my phone and touched it to see the order that he didn't have while he wrote down what it said. He then gave me food but it was only a 1/3 or my order. He then said "well that's why I asked to see your phone" I was in this restaurant for almost an hour waiting for my food with people around me eating and staff not wearing their masks properly. Every time they would walk by the by area or in the kitchen they would pull down their masks. This is absolutely unacceptable when there is a pandemic and you are a business. It took 3 times of him bringing food out to me to get it correct. If you aren't worried about the pandemic go ahead and go here but if you are worried I would stay clear. read more

My partner & I went here for lunch last weekend. We got cheese dip, runny but good flavor. I got the chicken fajitas, flavor was okay, but didn't have nearly enough seasoning. I was disappointed by the beans after the reviews I read about them. The rice was super dry & bland. My partner had one of the combination plates. The waiter is a riot and likes to test your Spanish. I ordered agua. I never had alambres before. It was steak, cheese, onions and peppers. Basil had something with shrimp and tiny scallops. Yum. I ate here for a dinner with my in-laws. The restaurant is located in a shopping center in a suburbsy area of Minnesota. The restaurant is new and clean. The server provided the standard Mexican American chips and salsa while our food was being prepared. I ordered the Burrito Californiano with chicken. The burrito came with ensalada, guacamole, and sour cream on the side. The food was much better than I expected it to be considering that I've been lucky enough to indulge in the real deal quite a few times. The bill for eight people came to $88 before tipping. Waiter came to our table, nice enough guy, spoke very little English...He was having hard time taking our order, brought us a big side of guacamole which we didn't order, we took it cost us 7.75 no biggie. The big deal came when we got our bill came to 83 dollars decided to leave 16 tip so comes to 99. There was 3 of us split is 33 a piece two payed with cash 33 and one with a card. Got our Card back and charge us 50.40 we tired to explain to him that he over charged us. He didn't understand got the manager the manager said that we never gave them the money and he was going to call the police. They totally ripped us off. The food was good, definitely filling and proportionate to the price, but the service wasn't. Was ignored for refill on beverage at least 3 times. Waited at least 15 minutes to get the check after completing the meal, and sat another 10 minutes to pay the check. I wanted to pay with my credit card, but I did not have any more time to wait, so I paid cash. Waited for the server to collect the money, but like I said, I didn't have much time, so I just left the cash on the table and walked out. A no frills Mexican joint with great food! A little bit hidden in a strip mall but 100% worth it to go to if you're into Mexican food. The menu at first glance is overwhelming; there are pages and pages of options. But in general you can't go wrong. Of course there's the chips and salsa to start which is standard. I had a not great experience here. I road my bike in the area enjoying the spring air and stopped in at 7pm for supper. They brought me to a booth where I sat until someone plopped down a menu and husseled off before I could ask for a glass if water. Chips and salsa get set down, I ask for water, salsa-server just laughs (nervously I think, prob all she was told to do was bring chips). Finally a server arrives and ask about what I want to drink so I order a beverage. About 2 minutes later another server shows up and takes my food order. I wait and wait for my beverage. My food comes and server ask "anything else" and I'm like yeah, I'm hoping eventually to get my soft drink - you brought my food and I'm still waiting on that - not even a glass of water yet! She goes and gets my soft drink. I eat my fajitas, and as is common I've got more food than toritas. As I generally do in this situation I plan on just ordering more - generally costs $2 or so. But again , waitress is nowhere to be found. She eventually shows up and asks me if I want a box. I say 'no, I'm waiting to order more shells' and I pat the thing that they came in. She disappears and shows up with chips. I say "no, I'm sorry I wasn't clear, I want more corn tortillas". I'm thinking this is crazy, even if the term shell wasn't precise enough pointing to the tortilla plate with the foil the torillas were in would have clarified. So she goes off again. And I wait. And wait. And then she comes back and asks me if I want a box. I look at her and say ' I never got the tortilla shells I ordered' She dashes off and returns a minute later with them. I've got about half the steak/onions/peppers on the iron skillet left but as I make one, it's clear they are now stone cold. I think a second about asking then to be microwaved to reheat them, and then the absurdity of the situation hits me. There's no way in hell a dish served to you in a restaurant should need to be reheated because you didn't have what you needed to eat it when it was at proper temperature. And now salsa-server is showing up again to start taking plates away. I stack up a few for her. Then another server shows up and asks me if I want a box. I'm no longer interested in eating this cold, so I tell her to bring me a box, and the manager. I tell the manager a shortened version hitting the high points of not getting my beverage until the food had been delivered. And about waiting and waiting for a server to come by so I could order more tortillas, finally able to do that and then they forget those too. I tell him he can't fix a problem if he doesn't know it exists I tell him I expect least that could be done is take the beverage and torillas off my bill. He does. I hindsight as half my dish was so cold was no longer interested in eating it unless it was reheated, I should have told him to take half off that. I still left a 15% tip (my normal is 20%) because the one waitress did try - there's some sort of systematic breakdown in how the place is run for that many misses to happen. Sometimes it's a constant barrage of servers asking, sometimes there's none to be found. I can't blame server B who took my food order for the fact that Server A who took my drink order never showed up with it. I'm guessing servers tell each-other to do things and it's just too many details lost in the shuffle. Like I suspect my server told one of the others people to bring me more tortillas which is why it never happened. read more

This has recently become one of my favorite restaurants. I have been there 5 times now. The food has been consistently good. My favorite items have been the shrimp fajitas (really yummy sauce) and the vegetarian combo platters. The guacamole is REALLY good. Chips and salsa are fresh. Ahhhhhh I couldn't stop eating them! They are kid-friendly and the waitstaff are always very kind to my 5-year old who is learning Spanish and likes to chat with them. Kid options include both Mexican fare as well as American foods (burgers, mac and cheese) which are fine when your kid is not in a mood to try new foods, but nothing special. There is rarely a wait at this restaurant and it is easy to park because there isn't a lot happening in this strip mall. I have gone there with a big party (10+ people). I have also gone there with just one friend and we sat there for a long time happily sipping drinks and eating a leisurely meal. I recommend always getting a margarita if you are not driving home as they are delicious and boozy. read more
