2 stars. It's not a 1 star experience but I wouldn't go out on a limb and say they were great. I'm pretty sure my roommate would give them 1 star as she is much harsher in her evaluations. FYI, I was really hoping that the 1 star reviews of this place were just exaggerating about their experiences, but after renting with MPM for a couple years, I can't defend this property management company.
I'll preface by saying that Ann-Dee is a nice person and is, for the most part, professional. I say for the most part because I remember prior to my move in I asked if I could get a copy of the lease agreement and she told me she would give me a copy once my roommate signed it. My roommate was going to arrive a little after me. When I asked for a copy the next day she kept swearing up and down that she did give me a copy when I was at the leasing office the previous day (quote AnnDee: "I gave you a copy when you were in my office yesterday, remember?" Talk about attitude). Umm, no, you DIDN'T give me a copy; you gave my roommate one because she was the last person to sign it. I had to ask my roommate to give me a copy of hers because Ann-Dee was being totally unreasonable about giving me a copy of the lease. You would think as a landlord she would be more than willing to give an electronic copy of the lease to her tenants, especially since it creates a digital paper trail. Aside from that interaction with her, she was nice throughout my time there. BTW, she has a tendency to be forgetful and sometimes doesn't reply to emails. Just saying from my roommate's experience.
Living in the unit we rented out was not terrible but not the greatest. Whenever we needed something fixed, it would always take a while for it to be repaired and when it was repaired, the contractor either did a bad job or didn't know what he was fixing. For example, the first time we moved in, I needed to get my window screen replaced. It took about 3-5 days. Okay, fine, whatever. But when the guy did show up to fix the window, for some reason he took out ALL the screen windows in the apartment and left all the windows open for an extended period of time! Why would you do that?! We never asked to replace all the screen windows, just the one in my room. And what sense does it make to take out all the screen windows, especially if you didn't even tell us about this in advance??? This wouldn't be such a big deal if we didn't have a cat in the apartment, but thankfully she is skittish and hid under the couch for the entire time he was there. My roommate was livid.
Also, whenever there were repairs done with the actual complex, my roommate and I were never informed about it, even though our neighbors were via email. We didn't know that our storage unit was in the process of being repaired. As a result, some of the things that were in the storage unit were stolen by some homeless person. I never kept anything in the storage unit, thankfully, but my roommate did and was really upset about it. I know there is nothing that the landlord can do about theft, but seriously, if we were ever given notice maybe we would have moved her personal items into the apartment. We were eventually given a key to the new door of the storage unit, but the key was taped on some scribbled note that we easily could've lost since it was just on the foot of our doorstep.
On a positive note, the pricing of the units are fair and it's not run by a slumlord. Our neighbors were nice and are long-term tenants (the majority of them were here when we first moved and are still there), which says a lot about a place. So, it's not completely bad. For those reasons I didn't want to give this place a 1 star.
Right now, however, I live somewhere else and when I need something fixed, the work order is completed within 6-12 hours. My current landlord is awesome; he totally bends over backwards for his tenants and gave me tons of information that I needed prior to my move in (including an electronic copy of my lease agreement, which he was more than happy to give me!). Sorry I can't say the same about More Property Management. read more
