Nice little stop in a strip mall type area, there are a lot of restaurants and other types of shops/activities in the area, you can bring food over to Mordecai beverage. We stopped on a Sunday afternoon and there were a lot of families and children playing outside, the drinks were great and a the bar had a good variety of draft beers

A must try brewery in the Raleigh area! This brewery is located in a shopping plaza with other must try places including Union Station and the Ramen Bar. There's plenty of parking as well. I just love the open concept of this place. Lots of outdoor space to encourage gathering and outdoor play. There's minimal indoor seating as well but if you visit on a nice day, you'll want to sit outside. The menu features all types of beer, cider, and seltzer. There are also nonalcoholic beverages as well. Additionally, they often have food trucks on the weekend too. Def a great weekend vibe if you're looking for something more chill!

This seems to be a neighborhood spot more than your "destination" brewery. There's a large outdoor patio (which I'll keep in mind for evenings once it cools down) with tables and even a stage, so perhaps they host live music at some point? They had about 10 beers on draft. I can't remember if they were all brewed there or not. The beer wasn't anything crazy or memorable, but it's a nice casual spot to catch up with friends or meet a date.

This is a chill spot to grab a few beers at, if you don't like beer wine and cider are available. I thought that the variety on tap was good, there is also a small area of bottles available for purchase to go. The spot was spacious and it was a fun environment. I loved the cornhole boards, Go Pirates!

Came down to run the Raleigh Half Marathon, and a couple of the happenings were located at Mortedcai Bev. We stopped in on Friday afternoon around 5:30 to pick up my packet, and it was rather crowded. Even though it was crowded, there was still plenty of room to move around and grab a beverage. They have their own line of drinks, as well as some other taps available. The pricing is comparable with nearly every other brewery you will visit. They also have a small section of beer and wine you can purchase to go. Our post race party was also located here. They rolled out the welcome mate for over 300 runners and made it a great event. The comfy leather couches were welcome after 13.1 miles. Though we didn't spend a lot of time here, I could definitely see going back when we have more time.

This place just opened about 72 hours ago so it's a bit early to form an opinion. It aims to be a brewery, tap room and bottle shop which sounds great. It's located in an old shopping center on capital blvd that is being revitalized / redeveloped as "gateway plaza". The bottle shop and brewery are not operational yet, but the space is very nice and the beer selection is well chosen. I'll definitely be back and am wishing them great success.

Ask the Community - Mordecai Beverage

What food options are available close to the brewery, such as food trucks or restaurants? Are we able to bring food to eat at the brewery?

Hey, hope you are doing well. Union Special is a great option before 3pm on weekends. We do have food truck some nights, usually Wednesday’s and Fridays. You are also allowed and encouraged to bring food anytime you want! Have a great day.

They don't serve food, so it's a good place to come after dinner. The ambiance is simple, a wooden bar and now that they have expanded, they have some tables as well. For those that follow me on Yelp for brewery reviews, cocktail bar reviews are few and far between. So if I make a point of making a visit, it really is special. Great selection of product (I guess) but what I appreciate is the care and attention each glass is prepared by the bar keep. They are very friendly and knowledgeable - which is good for me, b/c I ask a lot of questions! Service is careful, but does crawl if the house is full, it really is tiny inside - did you know there was a back door, patio area? I particularly like the absence of having to yell at my table mates - it makes this barbour more sophisticated in this respect.Everything, right down to the outside marquee is subtle - and we like leaving the madding crowd far away...

I came here for drinks and dessert with friends, and the star of the show was definitely the beignets. As someone who has visited New Orleans and tried the real deal, I thought I knew what good beignets tasted like. Turns out, I did not have to travel that far after all! The beignets here are like a cross between a classic beignet and a croissant. Light, fluffy, and just the right amount of indulgent. I will definitely be back to check out more of the menu, but no matter what, I am saving room for the... say it with me... beignets!!

The Service was outstanding thanks to Hayley. Her recommendations for pairing the drinks with the food were flawless, and each drink was prepared like a work of art. I started with the raw oysters, paired with a glass of Rose, which I loved. They switched from the Halibut with Fennel to Mahi with Forbidden Rice. The rice is black and inky and potent and extraordinary, but it overwhelmed the fish completely. Still greatful I got to experience it, but I would pair it with something more gamy like lamb or goat. The Pecan pie with warm salted caramel ice cream was nothing short of a spiritual experience, and Hayley's recommendation to pair it with Rum Flip was perfect. Yes, I Ubered. Overall, this one is going to be a frequent hangout.

Sweet, salty, buttery chaos in the best way. For the main, I went with the pork chop and greens. The chop leaned a little overcooked for me personally, but the sauce helped bring things back together and added good flavor. The greens had a nice little kick of heat, but I kept waiting for that deep smoky ham hock flavor to show up like an old Southern grandma entering the kitchen... and it never quite arrived. Overall though? Still a solid meal, strong whiskey program, cool atmosphere, and definitely worth checking out if you're in Raleigh looking for a bourbon-forward dinner spot.
