I was in the hospital every day feeding my uncle every day making sure he was thriving and getting back to health. Once they kicked me out they placed him here in November. He fell out of bed, his health declined, he slowly starved, got pumped with pain meds, lost weight and was dead on February 10, 2026. My uncle was isolated, I was told we could not visit because APS said so. I was threatened that If I or anyone comes to visit we will be arrested. I don't even live in the state. He was isolated until the day he died. He was given a court-appointed guardian through APS (adult protective services. He visited one time for about 15 minutes on December 26, 2026. They did nothing in his best interest. the judge did not allow anyone to visit him. My uncle died alone. they removed everyone who loved him due to a vindictive, distant, greedy family member, who was allowed to further isolate him from his loved ones. To top it off, after we were told that the state would take over, we were never notified of my uncle's death. I just happened to call the guardian of the court on February 23, 2026 to find out why the distant relative was going in and out of my uncles house. I was informed that my uncle had been dead for almost 2 weeks. He died at Palos hospital. No one even had the heart to notify his family. There is a different kind of evil in this world. I don't know who's worse Palos Hospital or this place. It should be a special kind of hell for people who treat the elderly like this.

I needed care for my leg wounds and also therapy after leaving the hospital. After a week here, I'd only received therapy one day and my wounds had been cleaned two days. I had to argue and complain to get them to follow the hospital doctors' instructions. When my doctor called with the instructions, they started cleaning my wounds every day, and they began to heal better each day. During therapy, I encountered a horrible woman who is in charge of the therapy team. From my second day there, she told me that my insurance didn't cover it and that they couldn't give me therapy every day (a lie). I called the insurance company, and they told me it wasn't true; they hadn't approved or rejected anything. So I complained and told them what that woman had said about the therapy, and it was a lie. And ever since the day I complained, that awful woman, who's about 6'6", has prevented me from receiving therapy every day, or as my orthopedist said, at least three days a week. The therapists are very kind and polite, but when they come to pick me up and we get to therapy, that awful woman in charge tells me, "You don't have to receive therapy because your insurance doesn't cover it. You can't be coming every day." And now, for the past week, she's been insisting that I go home because they can't do anything for me anymore, they can't give me therapy. It's this awful woman's insistence that I leave, as if I'm here for free, when she doesn't even provide therapy or help people. I've been here for 20 days and they've only given me six or seven therapy sessions. The reason I've stayed here for so long is because of the nurse who treats my wounds; she's very good, and my wounds have been healing. I'm leaving this place this week, but if you're recovering from surgery and just leaving the hospital, DO NOT COME HERE. It's NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE IN RECOVERY. This place is good for elderly care, but it's very, very bad for caring for people in recovery, and if you need therapy, forget it. The person in charge of therapy won't let you recover.

In fact, I caution against sending any loved ones, including pets. This facility has experienced a death and has a history of subpar care, including a patient fall. Furthermore, there is no nursing staff on premises, and the facility is consistently understaffed. If a lawsuit is filed, the facility simply changes its business name. The positive reviews appear to be written by the staff themselves, as evidenced by the fact that a CNA's name and face appear on both the discharge paperwork and a Google review. My mother-in-law is fortunate to have been removed from this facility before further harm occurre

Individual employees are, for the most part, committed to their jobs. For that, as the family of a resident, we are grateful. However, SV seriously lacks cohesion as clients are promised and redirected frequently. There's no single chain of command you can follow when meds aren't dispersed (on time or at all), the doctor doesn't show, appointments gets rescheduled, allergies are ignored, etc. It's understandably difficult to run a facility of this size but when you commit, you need to commit wholeheartedly to the needs of a clientele who will not or cannot speak for themselves. It's been our experience that SV is a place where employees redirect, rather than act, when an issue occurs. Often, because they don't know how to make things right. Remedy: Hire a client care coordinator or team who is available, responsible, and has the authority to act when something goes wrong or doesn't happen. Document it and work to make sure it doesn't reoccur. This way, you truly partner with those of us who don't know who to contact, or constantly have to address the same issue. If this person or team exists, let's hear about who he/she/they are. SV has wonderful employees in place to serve the clientel. Management now needs to make themselves known and take further steps to lead the masses. Thanks.

The staff / team has been very responsive to any questions and relaying information There are primarily two types of activities / events to do monthly: food delivery and a birthday luncheon. Volunteers can sign up for as much as they want to do, or opt out for that month; the online portal makes signing up very simplistic nowadays. There are more activities throughout the year (e.g. holiday parties and visits) that are available, which means more options to volunteer. The staff and fellow volunteers are very friendly and range in age from teenagers to retired adults. Lastly, the elderly that we volunteer for are always appreciative, grateful nd love socializing, which makes volunteering that much more fun and rewarding.
