When you call there after hours you their spiel " Were Villa a.d we make people better"! This was so far from the truth because the main doctor assigned to me was not very good! He withheld a blood thinner when my levels were very high( thick) when I asked him about it he didn't give me a direct answer I think he clearly needs to retire because he is older than dirt! Some of the therapist in the therapy department were very unprofessional talking about patients so other people could hear them Overall the place is just trying to put profit in front of people's health as they say when you listen to their greeting . If your thinking about this place think again and go some where else! read more

ZERO STARS if possible. My mom is here, fell out of bed 3 days ago, still hasn't had an xray!! She fell out of bed Wed AND Thurs night and nothing. She is here for a broken hip, falls and NOTHING!!! I also changed her and her diaper was falling apart. When i asked how often they get changed the kid told me once a shift which is 8 hrs!! It smells like urine and poop and is AWFUL! There are some nice staff but AVOID IF POSSIBLE!!!!! read more

I would not recommend this facility to anyone who can't take care of them self or have any mental health issues. My father needed extra assistance because he couldn't walk anymore! They did not offer any assistance for him to adjust to the change. Also his hip was dislocated. We still have not found out how this happened since he couldn't walk. He had mild dementia and they did not offer any assistance with working with him. He did need someone to bring his clothes to him and the items for hygiene care but that wasn't done regularly. His clothes were changed daily but teeth and hair no. He could do it for himself but he would need someone to bring the items to him. There was a few staff members who were good but the majority not. Some were very obese and it might have been a challenge to carry their own weight so when they have to lift an adult I'm sure that was a challenge for them. You can't get in touch with the doctor. I recommend to continue medical care with the doctor you are seeing. Transportation can be arranged. This doctor never called back when we requested a family meeting. The nurses I dealt with would page him and let him know the family would like to speak to him but all he did was call the nurse back to relay a message. If you feel they need to go to the hospital demand that they send them. The rooms were not bright. We kept the curtains open to get in some extra light. And it took at least a week to change a bulb in the room. They have a new wing recently built but its for patients who are there for a short period of time for recovery. Don't let that fool you. More than likely your family member will be staying in one of the other older wings in the building. This place is a place to recover from major surgery. Anything else I wouldn't recommend. There was a few staff members who were helpful but the majority not. read more

If you have a choice...avoid this place at all costs!! Those who rate this high are only people who are basically in great health & who only need a limited amount of care while going through rehab. Anyone requiring actual medical care while here will be degraded and demeaned when their family is not around. Course..administration and Director of Nursing will make up excuses...or apologize and say they'll look into...but nothing changes. There are a few good employees..but sadly... the majority are lazy, lying, cruel individuals who should never be allowed to work in a field caring for other human beings....probably not pets either! If your loved one gets placed here... be prepared to take shifts, including sleeping here to make sure the care the administration promised during the day actually happens after they go home and can't keep an eye on their staff. The reviews about the majority of staff sleeping and not caring I believe to be true. Some of the heartbreaking things I've seen are individuals lined up in wheel chairs along the wall by central nurses stations. Families are told its for their safety as because their loved ones are at risk of injury and can't be left alone. However what they don't know is that no one is at the nurses stations to watch them most of the time. So your loved ones are left isolating feeling ashamed and degraded. This damages their mental health!! Every medical professional will tell you keeping a persons mental health up is just as important when it comes to their physical health improving. I've witnessed non-compassionate CNA males and transport guys literally tearing off wet clothes and underwear of patients who had accidents. They throw their wet clothes in a pile in the corner of the room. Then forcefully plop the patient in a wheel chair without putting anything on them. This is unnecessary humiliation! Ive witnessed staff forcing individuals to be degraded sitting by themselves in a hallway with their tray of food. The staff will claim its because the individual needs extra help from the staff. Yet no staff is helping or even around. But earlier in the day a more compassionate staff member would take that same patient to the dining room where they are surrounded by more respectful staff to help patients if needed. I witnessed staff pass off patients back and forth between the old and new sections among a various array of false reasons. I.e. needs a bed that goes to floor (Hint...they all go to floor), patient needs more then rehab... but person next door in new section needs more then rehab too, or new wing is for patients who have trouble communicating...yet patients in rooms on both sides in old section communicate so well you can hear everything they say. Staff tells you they have to keep your loved one up in a wheel chair all night because they're a fall risk and can put up bed rails claiming its against the law. But according to the law...Illinois Nursing Home Care Act 210 ILCS 45... it is not only not prohibited... in the same wing there are bed rails on a bed of another patient!!!! To have a loved one who has done so much all their life to go above to be there and help so many people in their life...and when they come here to regain strength to continuing the battle of their life and are treated like nothing but an annoyance to those paid to help him.... its not only devastatingly heartbreaking.... its disgustingly wrong, immoral amd unethically..if not illegal!! This place only wants to care for people who need little care and can take of themselves except for a little physical therapy. My family will make sure our loved ones will NEVER step foot in this place again. read more

My 80 year old dad stayed here after his open heart surgery. The facility is new, clean, and the Therapy staff were great. Otherwise, the nursing and assistant staff were good but they were understaffed. It took the staff way too long to attend to my fathers needs. Especially when he needed assistance to get to the bathroom and get his meds on time. Luckily he didn't have any falls but you see how being at home would have been better. Plus at discharge it took way too long to get his medication scripts in order. I had called several days before to make sure this would all be taken care of and was assured by staff that it would be. Of course, when the day came the pharmacy said they had nothing. They were still awaiting the doctor to call in the scripts! read more

This place is a complete Nightmare!!! Staff is very relaxed at giving Very little to no patient care !!! My dad was there for 5 weeks. the nurses appears to have absolutely no compassion for the residents and the nurses are all Lpn's except only one RN in the entire facility!!! If there's a real medical emergency the Lpn doesn't have a clue what to do!!! My dad wasn't able to breath early morning Luckily I had stayed with him overnight.. put call light on for nurse. she started to panic but refused to call for the paramedics!!! she had to wait. until the registered nurse arrive. at this point the RN assisted my Dad!!! The kitchen staff manager snapped on my dad and yelled at him for requesting a. Bowl of cereal! My dad is 90 years old!!! The nurses come in to put mask on my dad's face for his nebulizer treatment. which each treatment only for 10 minutes. the nurses never came back to remove the mask! Will leave the mask on dad's face for over a hour!! unless I'm there to remove it!!! To complain to the director of nursing and the Adminitrator isn't worth your time because they could care less! about complaint!!! i complain to the Adminitrator about LPN ... Crystal Anna for the entire PM. Shift, she never entered my dad's room. he had continued putting his call light on for a Tylenol and nebulizer treatment. The CNA'S stated each time they will inform crystal Anna she just ignored them!!! I was with my dad the entire pm shift. and when i asked her for a Tylenol for my dad. she stated that she was busy!!! REALLY !! the next day I called and complained to the Adminitrator. she said she will correct the issue and reassigned crystal Anna from being my dad's. Nurse ... two days later this lazy lack of skills !!! Uncaring makeshift nurse back assigned as my dad's nurse!!! Unbelievable!!! There's was only one excellent CNA (Amy) and one Excellent Nurse R N ( Susie) this place is absolutely the worse nursing home in Illinois. I really don't know how they're keeping their doors open. For two weeks the kitchen staff served my dad tuna sandwiches for lunch and dinner!!! until I complained to kitchen supervisor (Kevin) which he doesn't appears to know anything about serving the. Residents a good balance meal!!! Kevin is the person came to my dad's room and yelled at him for asking for cereal! One CNA on the night shift refused to turn my dad to his side when he asked her to. And later came back to his room at 2am and licked her tongue out at him!!! I wouldn't sent my animal or worse enemy to this god forsaken DUMP!!!! The place looks nice and from my friend that was there she had her own room however she was only there nine days for rehab but she never got any rehab she laid in the bed for nine days in the same robe she had on from the hospital. She was also in very good health all in all and ended up dying and her 9th day there.... Not sure why or what happened but that is going to be under investigation very soon I am hiring an attorney. I don't know how many rooms were in the section she was in because it was the rehab area not the long-term care area but they were extremely short staffed for all of the rooms that they had which is why she probably was laying in the same clothes for nine days, never got a bath or a shower or anything even though she was prior to be in there able to get up by herself and go to the bathroom but they just let her do it in the bed. I guess it's easier for somebody to come every couple of hours and toss her over and change the middle pad on the bed versus actually letting her get up and go by herself because she say "fall risk". She did file which is how she ended up at the hospital and then to the nursing home but you don't put somebody there for "rehab" and let her sit in her bed doing nothing for nine days! Do you know what happens in a person that lays in bed that's very skinny to begin with.... In nine days you lose all of your muscle tone extremely easy so therefore I think they were trying to make her bed ready because bedridden people are easier to take care of! Don't let the good looks of the building fool you!! And this is my opinion others may feel differently but it's what I experience with my friend being there and it's what I will tell everybody it's called free-speech and I have a right to it and I have a right to tell what my experience was of her being there also is and if the nursing home reads this and doesn't like it, no offense tough crap!! She also had a DNR but they called 911 and they cracked her chest while doing the procedure which is why we did not want resuscitation to be done she's too frail to have it done but they chose to have it done anyway and then give the excuse that oh they can't find the paperwork that stated that even though I told the lady that when I went over all of the paperwork! Oh but they did find time to pull me to the side to tell me they are a mandated reporter and don't wanna have to report me because my voice was too loud when I told her to knock it off when they were trying to help her I guess they consider that abusive but they don't consider their staff tossing and turning and flipping and flopping patient around to be abusive. I asked her how she was finding the people there and she said they're wishy-washy some nice I'm not nice. read more

I don't understand the poor ratings. The staff has been phenomenal to my mother especially the concierge's and the administrator. My mother's physical therapists are wonderful and she made significant progress while there. My mother loved it there and she is a handful and very difficult to please.... read more

What A DUMP!!!!!! I have been to other homes and I have never treated so poorly. There is no choice in food. It is of the poorest quality. The staff is poorly trained and inattentive. It seemed like the staff did not want to be there. At one point I had to wait 25 minutes to be removed from a bed pan. I wallowed in dirty bed linens for a day. They are prepared to handle people that were under the age of 65. With the older people they can keep them sedated The worst part was the antibiotic treament I was supposed to receive one dose per 48hrs. They either missed the entire dose or were not capable to operate the IV pump. Avoid this home!!! read more

I had my mom in 8 different nursing homes. This was the one she liked best. We had an excellent nurse. She felt very safe as you have to check in before entering a patient's room. She had a feeding tube so I can't comment on the food. I loved the attention she had. Some of the other nursing homes had horrible food, no security( I would buy 3 nightgowns for my mom with the tags on them and by the next day, they would be taken,another nursing home had C-diff running rampart, another one had a nurse who kept telling my 99 year old mother who was bedridden to "Get it yourself!!!" By far, this was the Best one we found near Palos. It was clean with a great staff.! read more

We are very please to report that the overall services provided at Park Villa for our sister who is a long term care recipient have been exceptional. Attentive and professional medical and nursing staff. Supportive CNA assistance with her daily needs. Prompt communication with us on any changes required for her improved care is a service we rely upon and really appreciate. The facility is kept very clean and all surroundings are maintained to provided a safe environment for all residents. The entire management team practices an open policy to address resident's concerns and issues and the same holds true for their family members. We have recommended Park Villa as a sound resource to our family and friends who's loved ones find themselves in need of this type of support. I would literally never take anyone to your Palos Heights location again. My family member was discharged yesterday after being at the facility for several months. The incompetence we experienced during this whole experience is disgusting. From nurses openly discussing patient care in derogatory ways in front of us, to it taking 1+ hours to answer a call light while staff stood around and chatted with one another. Her discharge was another awful experience. My grandmother is and has been on oxygen around the clock for 4+ years now. She was discharged yesterday with no oxygen. She was transported via medical car with no oxygen. By the time she arrived she was short of breath. Absolutely ridiculous. A wheelchair was supposed to be ordered for her, she arrived in a Park Villa owned wheelchair. Thankfully the transporter didn't feel comfortable leaving my mostly immobile grandmother without a wheelchair so she told her to keep it until she gets her own. Lastly, she arrived without any medication. Was not fed lunch before discharge. And was not given the vital test she needs to continue her nightly bipap machine therapy. Now we are scrambling to remedy all of these mistakes. I would highly recommend avoiding taking your loved one here. read more
