Cordia is a wonderful place!…read more Our culture is such that mothers expect to remain in the house of one of their daughters until their death, however my house has stairs and is too dangerous for my mom. She was resistant to being anywhere but with family so moving her to Cordia produced a lot of anxiety for her. Thankfully, the wonderful staff at Cordia - from the lobby workers to the maintenance workers to the amazing dining room staff - all worked their magic to make her feel treasured and safe. Personally, I see that the staff at Cordia are very satisfied working with the senior residents there. I engage in conversations with them and am grateful for their kindness and respect for the residents and for each other. Cordia has a wonderful line-up of daily activities and they also have special activities for holidays. I'm super pleased to see my mom engaging in different activities that she never had done before Cordia. For example, I used to try to have her do chair workouts with me but she had always refused. Now at Cordia, she's down in the workout room at least 3 times a week!!! I think Cordia has given her new life! She was always very anxious about food owing to issues with onions and other spices, but has had no problems at all since at Cordia. She loves their food! I'm very, very pleased with Cordia. My mother lives here in independent housing. She made an informed choice to live here. There are…read morepluses for us : close proximity to amenities and to my home. The Wye Valley building seems comfortable enough but there are some glaring issues. 1) The meals are not very healthy or satisfying. For the price that is paid, I would expect fresher food, more variety, more flavor (I have eaten there myself a few times.) More importantly, the meals don't seem to follow appropriate dietary guidelines for seniors with health issues, i.e. most seniors. There was a brief period when the staff had a dietician that was making a real effort to make sure the food was tasty, well presented and appropriately nutritional for the individuals. But now, the food is not very good. My mother tells me about other residents complaining about the food, but are afraid to speak up. 2) The second elevator has been inoperable for months, because of needed repairs. However, and this is on Brookfield, an inspection has not yet been completed, it seems like it's been out of service most of the year. 3) Although the building is for independent living, seniors still need support and stimulation. There is a small game room and a room with an exercise bike. The staff I have encountered do well with the resources they have, but it seems like more interactive activities could be added - things that are a little more engaging and lively - that would be appropriate for an independent living situation.

When my mom moved in, she required a great deal of patience and support in her new environment. She received that support from the talented team and management. She was welcomed and offered as much or as little support and engagement as would make her feel comfortable. I do not have a concern that hasn't been addressed by this wonderful team of caretakers who have come alongside me in navigating how best to serve my mom at this time of her life. Under paid, lots of back and body pains, high absenteeism and turnover. caseload too high. Usually impossible to get care between 6:45 - 7:30 pm, due to poor management. Slow response to having no cable, no call butt0n - they gave me a bell that could not be heard and closed. the room door! Not fully ADA compliant for wheelchair use - dangerous. Many independent living residents have been here over 20 years -they are happy.

He is now doing much better and wants to leave but they won't let him. They are holding him against his will because they say his son has POA, which was revoked but not recognized by them. He has tried to escape several times to no avail. But they block his exit. This is clearly elder abuse and they are getting away with it.

He started out in independent care and quickly deteriorated to needing more care. He was given 48 hrs to find somewhere else. Despite our having paid our money they said they could not provide care.We were burdened financially to pay for another facility.They threatened to have a court appointed guardian, they allowed unauthorized personnel into his room. They kept the money for close to 4 years after he left. My mother was at another facility when she passed we received the monies in less than 1 year. This place uses families that are in precarious positions desperately looking for guidance and in our case we received none.

She received great care when she had to go to Assisted Living and eventually Memory Care. The CNA's and staff were kind and caring and truly saw to the needs of my Mom.
