This was my first significant move as I have always lived in the town where I was born. Moves were made with the assistance of friends. I received a job offer requiring a move from NY to San Jose. They gave me one of the only guaranteed not to exceed quotes and Shannon took the time to explain everything to me the crew from NJ: Kyle and two other guys ( sorry memory failed me) were so conscientious and thorough they put me at ease. Shannon told me it may take up to 14 days to deliver, but they got it to me in 9 days - delivering on a Sunday. Tommy Thornton was the driver from east to west and he began reaching out to me by Friday. They delivered everything intact do far! I still have boxes to go thru. Tommy went above and beyond to open a jammed door on one of my end tables well! This is a company with a lot of integrity on both coasts!! Thank you Moovers Inc! read more

This is the second time I have used Moovers. I called and was able to get a confirmed move date quickly and the time frame I needed. The crew was on time and very friendly and efficient. They protected the furniture carefully and completed it in record time. Pricing was reasonable for a smaller move. Highly recommend them. read more

I think the 5 star reviews here are a joke. They must be putting them up themselves... These guys were the WORST. I paid them to pack my stuff and move across country...and paid for the full insurance since it was a big move and didn't want to take any chances... Not only were they almost a week later than they told me, when i unpacked, i found my laptop and a electronic scale to be not working...mostly because the scale (electronic mind you) was tossed in a kitchen garbage can without being secured, and the laptop was wrapped in a towel and tossed in a box with a bunch of other items. When I called and said that these items were damaged, this douchebag tells me that because there is no physical damage, that they didnt cover it (even though I paid for the FULL INSURANCE!). When i said that these items wouldnt be damaged if they were properly secured, he kept saying that there would be physical damage...what an idiot...he didnt seem to understand, that if a laptop/scale is wrapped in a towel, and tossed around in a box a little, there doesnt have to be physical damage to f*ck up the electronics. Id use someone else... and if you use these guys, be careful with the insurance... they'll make up some excuse to make sure you dont get covered even if they damage your stuff... read more

My husband and I had to move north from Texas to Ohio. We read about all of the horrible instances of moves online, and we were really anxious about finding a moving company. We found out about Moovers Inc. on Movingscam.com and decided to go with them. We just got our stuff yesterday, and are extremely satisfied with Moovers. Inc. Our thing's arrived complete (with all 150 items accounted for), in tact, and in less than four days. Our driver was prompt, professional, thorough, and courteous. He managed both the starting and destination local movers well, as well as directed the moving of our grand piano (from the second floor of an apartment no less!) with proficiency and care. We highly recommend them to any and all hesitant people considering moving across country, and would definitely use them again. read more

Just used Moovers Inc for a move from Southern California to Oregon. They were incredible and surpassed all expectations. They arrived on time (if not early,) worked hard and efficiently, kept us in the communication loop, and performed an outstanding job. My wife and I used them once before moving from Indiana to Southern California and I would use them again without thinking twice. You guys are an incredible service at a more than reasonable price. read more

We used Moovers from NYC to SF. It was not a great experience. The positive: The actual moving men who did the packing, lifting, driving, unpacking were great guys. They were honest, hard-working, patient, and nice. Yes, the packing was not perfect in places. Yes, they were a bit late at times. But overall, most of the employees we dealt with were decent. The negative: 1. Management is rude and provides poor customer service at the first sign of conflict. 2. Failed to recognize or prorate for a missing then damaged item. 3. Failed to acknowledge the significant damage they cause to an expensive item of furniture. The owners were extremely friendly and pleasant UNTIL there was a problem. I'm sure if you have a move without any issues, then the perception is that they are a great company. But if you have a problem, it goes downhill very, very fast. I admit I was annoyed that they demanded full payment prior to unloading. I've moved cross country 3 times before this and never had this happen. Yes, it is their legal right so I guess I am wrong for expecting this. However, how it was handled when we disagreed on this issue was unprofessional to put it mildly. Plus, in the end, they did NOT perform as agreed upon. They failed to deliver a very expensive item and did not even notice it was missing until we pointed it out. Of course, they weasled around this by claiming it was "overflow" and doesn't count. Heck, why not just fail to deliver the whole shipment on time and call it overflow? Then, the item arrived much later than promised and damaged. They sent someone to fix it who alternately claimed it was fixed or that it must have been damaged prior to move (no pattern to the alternating claims, just trying to find a theory to stick I guess). However, the attitude and threats of the owners and management were very off-putting and VERY out-of-the-blue compared to the prior sugar and spice when soliciting the job. I would not use them again even though the employees were decent guys. I do not believe they set out with the intention of "scamming" us on this move. I'm sure they would be happy to have things go smoothly. However, things did not go smoothly. When this happened, their true colors were not very becoming. Should one have a problem-free move with Moovers, I'm sure the level of service would be more than adequate. The employees we met were good people. However, should a problem arise, the consumer should not expect to be treated with respect or honesty. After reading through these reviews I see an interesting pattern. About 25% of users are 1-2 star very unhappy. The rest are quite happy. I imagine that those who are happy had generally smooth moves (and skimming those reviews confirms that). But those of us who had to deal with any real problems are pretty darn unhappy. Finally, use movingscam with a grain of caution. I posted my (this) story there too. I was attacked and even had the pleasure of one poster taking it upon herself to "vet" my story by calling Moovers, asking (and being given!) the personal details of my move, then explaining to me in great detail how I *must* be wrong because they have many pages of nothing but positive reviews. Guess they don't read Yelp. I don't think movingscam is a scam, but they do get some sort of nominal fee from companies they endorse so it isn't exactly neutral as is often said. read more

Don't listen to the paid shils on this site: this company is bad news all around. I've moved a household 4 times in the last 5 years back and forth across a country and between two continents and Moovers was the worst AND the most expensive. Everyone was friendly enough, but the level of incompetence of the packers was unbelievable: boxes with padding to hold files, while glass valuables were thrown together. They failed to protect expensive designer chairs, just wrapping them with blankets and shoving them under the hot truck roof (ruined). Overall, I made a claim of nearly $4K on a $12K move -- which, by the way, was nearly 50% more than their competitors. (I was suckered by the salesmanship and various false reviews on websites). As for the lengthy insurance claim process, they ended up paying out only a quarter on the dollar of value lost. Bottom line: STAY AWAY !!!!!!!! read more

Moovers Inc was spectacular!!! They moved us from New York City to San Francisco in June. They were able to give us an in-person estimate (I suggest only working with companies that will do this) with a not-to-exceed guarantee (also rare and a must). They have a clear understanding of federal transportation laws and clearly follow them. They also allow you to stay in contact with your driver at any point if you want to. We found them particularly great because they are based in the bay area and offered us free storage if our stuff got to the west cost before we did. Their driver was so efficient he got here 5 days before expected! We had Moovers Inc do a full move including packing our two bedroom apartment. Their packing was excellent. We had virtually no damaged property - we had one cracked lid of a Tupperware container and EVERYTHING else was PERFECT. I have never heard of a move this good! They even helped us to assemble any furniture that they took apart for the move. And they took the time to make sure every box was in the room we wanted it at delivery. SPECTACULAR! There is no other word for it! read more

MOOVERS WERE OUTSTANDING! We have moved 3 times in the past 10 years, and this was by far the best. First of all, the estimate was several thousand dollars less than the competitors. Chris & John drove our shipment from San Francisco to Portland. They arrived on time and carefully unpacked our shipment, placing everything in the right rooms in the house and putting furniture back together. Not only did nothing get broken in the process, Chris actually repaired a piece of furniture! I would give Moovers 10 stars if I could and I would highly recommend hiring Chris & John to drive your shipment, if you can. Thanks for restoring our faith in movers! read more

We just moved with Moovers, which is now part of National Van Lines. Although the estimator promised that a variety of steps would be taken to protect our furniture, including a piano, when the movers came, they said that they didn't know anything about it. In the end, none of the promises were kept, and a lot of furniture was scratched and damaged. We are very disappointed, and will not use this company o National Van Lines again. read more

We moved from San Francisco to New York City in July 2009; apparently after leaving our place they delivered to Katie W., whose review is here. (We had planned to use ABF U-Pack relo-cubes after a very positive experience moving from Virginia to San Francisco, but NYC does not permit cubes) Moovers did everything right. Their guaranteed not-to-exceed price seemed high for our minimalist lifestyle, but the actual price came in about $1200 lower, so we think they weigh honestly. We packed everything but the furniture and had no damage or loss. Rich, the driver, kept us up to date on his travel east. By the way, we think that his movers work darned hard and deserve good tips, not the $10 suggested on some site. read more

The only thing bad I can say is that I can't get them to take my business anymore! I used them twice for interstate moves - from SoCal to Portland OR in 2009, and back to SoCal in 2012. Service was great, the workers were nice, they were prompt and worked very hard. They hire ex-convicts to give them a second chance, or at least did at the time I used them, which I think is a nice thing. They did a great job with our stuff...nothing bad to say about them. I can't speak to the competitiveness of their pricing because I'd never needed a moving company before, so they're my only experience. However they give you a quote based on a self-inventory, and guaranteed not to charge more than that (as long as your inventory wasn't just WAY off base). If your stuff ended up weighing *less* than they had estimated for the quote, they would actually charge you less based on the accurate weight, when they weigh the van at the closest weigh station. So the method was fair, that much I can say. My problem comes in now because they have joined up with National Van lines, who is apparently setting the policy for what jobs they accept. Although I am moving a long distance, I am only moving a one bedroom apartment. (Previously they would arrange the timing of your move along with other customers who were "going in the same direction", so they'd load up a big tractor trailer with multiple people's things, and then drop off each job on the way. So you had to have some flexibility on your delivery date, because it was a bit more involved for them then just driving directly to your destination after pickup.) Basically, I am no longer a big enough job to warrant their consideration, which makes me sad. I really wanted to use them again. We even tried explaining that we'd used them twice before but that wasn't enough to convince them - policy is policy and the people who were involved with Moovers previously do not set it, so they don't seem to have the authority to override whatever the set policy is. Bottom line - if you are a big enough job for them to accept, I'd recommend them. If you might be a "small job", you may want to call them first to see if they think they will accept you before taking the time to fill out the self-inventory, and definitely have a Plan B lined up. read more

This is regarding Moovers out of Pittsburgh, Ca. What a rip off company. Arrived late, damaged 10 objects and tried to hide it. When I called the office, the Secretary tried to blow me off, saying that the movers were probably afraid to say anything as they might lose their jobs. What!! We didn't even claim our total damage-- and informed us we didn't meet the deductible of $500.This company has been reported to the BBB. DON'T USE THEM. read more

Taylor was very clear and helpful on the initial call, and the movers were professional and very fast. All went smoothly. Will certainly recommend Moovers Inc. to friends. read more

I had a flawless experience with moovers inc, even when I scheduled a move without knowing exactly where I was moving to. They were flexible, professional, careful with my items, always punctual, and gave me a binding estimate, so I had no worries about inflated costs. Everything arrived in perfect condition, and the moves at both ends were fast and painless. I would recommend them to anyone making a cross country move. They offer very competitive prices and invaluable peace of mind. read more

Well, that's better. I received a call from Michael Wunder, an account manager at Moovers. He had read my review, spoke to the owner, and offered to refund us $3439.80 for the overcharge. This still doesn't deal with the inconvenience of the shifting delivery date, but I am glad they made the effort to remediate the overcharges. read more

We moved from Berkeley to New Orleans, a two bedroom apartment move, nothing fancy. We got about five estimates, but Moovers was the most reasonable. (Some people tried to low-ball us, but we knew that they might be low quality or didn't do the estimate properly). Moovers was on the ball throughout the move, and called us to make sure everything was still on in advance. They told us two weeks for our stuff to get to New Orleans, which was fine. Turned out that our stuff got to New Orleans only four days after we got here, which was quite a relief. Everything was also in one piece, but that was also because we packed everything really well ourselves. Friendly staff, good customer service, and a good attitude over all. read more

We used Moovers, Inc for a long distance move which also then involved National Van Lines. The experience could not have been better. There were a few small hitches during the process but nothing that one should not expect with a move. The team at Moovers was always available to answer the smallest question and to make the process more smooth. The price was right, the transfer to National could not have been easier, and the driver was excellent. We've moved a lot in the past so knew what to ask for in terms of a contract (binding not to exceed) and they were willing to work with us on every detail though we had a smaller load than most. I liked them so much that when we return to the area I will contact them first. Moving is stressful enough, whether you go five miles or five thousand. These guys made me feel like we had it all covered. Be specific in what you expect, ask questions and don't assume, and don't be shy about being a pest (I was a big pest) and go with your gut. These guys always, no matter how small or pesky my question or request, were right on it and accommodated everything I asked for and more. We packed our stuff but I might have them pack next time. Some advice (having done this a million times) about packing? Don't leave valuables - carry those yourself. Make sure you keep a suitcase or small box with stuff you'll need immediately while waiting for the truck to arrive. Don't pack important paperwork - carry that stuff with you (insurance, certificates, passports, bank stuff). Read the booklet and paperwork they provide - it's helpful and some information is absolutely vital (about charges, extras, mileage, insurance coverage). And don't omit reviewing the inventory when it's loaded or unloaded - it's your way of keeping track. Count the boxes, count the items. And don't be shy about asking questions, and keep asking until you are satisfied. Moovers is one of the best and I'd use them again, no question. read more

moovers inc is in the process of filling for bankruptcy. do not use, they will take your money, and for some unfortunate people their items are in limbo. do not use this company. I'm out 2200 dollars due to moovers inc taking advantage of me. This company is full of lies. read more

We used Moovers again to come back from New York to California. Boy is that a hard move, but Moovers made it pretty easy. The movers on both sides, yet again, were really really nice and moved everything really quickly, even helping us put stuff in two different places at our destination (in a storage barn on one side of the property, and into the house on the other) without any extra fees. The final total also came in at about $600 less than their not to exceed estimate, which was already about $500 less than anyone else that we got a quote from, so we saved quite a bit by using them. The guys on this side even let us keep some of the older moving blankets wrapped onto the things that were going into storage so it wouldn't get so dusty! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that they still aren't great at communicating while your stuff is en route. When we got really close to the last day of the delivery window, our driver called to let us know he would be one day late, which wasn't a problem, because he had gotten stuck in the polar vortex weather in the mid-west. It just would have been nice to have gotten a few more updates on the way. UPDATE: They sent us a letter saying that we still owed them $600 after we had paid off what they had told us was our total. After some very rude and apathetic exchanges with corporate from National Van Lines, the parent company, we paid the $600 that I had originally thought was awesome that they didn't charge. The movers are great, but corporate SUCKS! Won't be using them again after that. read more

The power of Yelp. The same day I posted this review is when I got my replacement t.v. I have not been into Yelp for a while, at least a month, and when I did, I saw a message from Moovers asking what can they do to make the situation better and they heard I got my replacement t.v. Weird, why didn't I get a phone call instead or an email to my personal email. My tip to potential customers is to make your own list of what you want moved to include in your contract. That was one of my gripes. I was told the stuff in my carport storage was not included in the estimate and the mover showed me the list, and I asked why didn't I get a detailed list? He agreed I should have. Another was scheduling. I scheduled for a Saturday and Moovers called me and said they could not do it on that scheduled Saturday because they were booked. They wanted to change it to the day before on a Friday and I said no because I could not get into my new place then, and I suggested Sunday and they said no because they had to pay overtime to their workers. I agreed to the following Saturday. The procedure is pack one day, and then move the next day. The pack day was rainy (btw, my real scheduled day was sunny and nice). They were worried about my steep hill and the rain and wanted to reschedule again but I said I was already packed up, but I was willing to wait til Monday. He decided to go ahead on Saturday because again, the overtime on Sunday, and then he had conflicts the rest of the week. When they came to my house though they made me sign an addendum saying I had to pay if a tow truck was needed. Well, I did need a tow truck because their truck almost ran into my house. You know, driver error was more to blame than the steep hill - I saw the tires, he had wheels toward the house and not going straight down. And though the ground was mossy still, no rain. The estimate was way high because it was taking into account the steep hill, but it ended up still costing more than the estimate. Tip 1) write out detailed list of what you are moving. Tip 2) get more than one estimate Tip 3) this doesn't apply to me because I have nothing of material value, but insurance is worthless (like a penny a pound) so take anything important with you. Tip 4) have family/friends with you on pack day/move day to help supervise. Tip 5) try to check all reviews. A funny thing about this. A new review came up raving about Moovers and they intimated their move was 2 years ago. Hmmm, is this to offset my one-star rating? So take my review with a grain a salt, as well as others. I will be signing off permanently from Yelp. read more

I have used these guys for two local moves. The first time, they moved my 4 bedroom 2700 sq ft house partially into storage, and partially into a two bedroom apartment with stairs. They arrived at 8:30 at the house, and left my new apartment at 1:30. My friends began calling me to see if I needed any help, and we all shocked when I was able to tell them they had already left and they more than welcome to help me unpack, but all the lifting had been taken care of already. When I calcualte the time it would have taken my and my friends, plus the cost of a rental truck, the fuel for the truck, the multiple trips, the back aches and sore muscles, I figured I probably saved hundreds of dollars and stress by hiring these guys with the right equipment and knowledge. They kept the other half of my items in storage for two years. They charged me half of what it would have cost for a public storage unit and where willing to work me every month on payment for the storage, not once being demanding for payment. When I moved from the apartment to a rental house, They moved all the stuff from my apartment in 3 hrs to the new house. And the next day, brought me all my storage items and unloaded it all in a hour. I am moving again to the house I just purchased, and will be using their services again without question. read more

We moved cross-country from the Bay area to Vermont. The movers on both ends were very professional, efficient and conscientious. They were actually one of the cheaper moving quotes we got, and they have a binding quote upper limit that is a useful feature of their business. As other reviewers have stated, they were trustworthy and careful. The only thing that broke was a small table leg on an old piece of furniture, and they fixed that on the spot. read more

Had an excellent experience this weekend with Moovers Inc. for my short move from Berkeley to El Cerrito. A friend who had just moved to Berkeley to Oakland highly recommended these guys - noting that they are Diamond Ceritifed - so I did not shop around, which made me a little nervous. But they arrived right on time, and worked non-stop loading the truck and then unloading it later at the other end. All the furniture got shrink-wrapped, so no nicks or scratches at the other end, and all the rugs rolled and taped, so I did not have to do it myself. They also put everything in the closets into wardrobes for me and then took everything out for me as well at our new place. Finally, the big issue with my move were some very old beds that I did not know how to break down. They figured it out for me, broke down the frames, and got everything into the truck. The whole move took about 4 hours - seemed incredibly fast to me, but made my day so much easier. read more

I hired them to do what would by most standards be considered a "small" move - as I had rid myself of most of my stuff and was only concerned about my SPECIAL stuff, ie, big screens, huge cherry bed and bedroom furniture, etc. They came in with a very fair price and did a wonderful job!!! They do totally rock, they sent two young men who were very professional, and super quick. It was not a local move, we moved two hours away - they were awesome - and to think I was going to rent a U-Haul and have my friends and neighbors haul furniture down two flights of stairs? So glad I went this route, it was painless and nothing was broke or had a scratch on it. I coordinated with Mike - he was great too:) Definitely use them, super competitive pricing, Highly recommended!!!!!!! I used the Pittsburg, California Office - very impressed!!! These guys were GREAT. They just moved me from SF to Brooklyn and didn't break a thing. They were one of very few companies endorsed by a web site called movingscam.com that lists the best and worst moving companies. Again, they rock and you'd be cray to move cross country with anyone else. read more

Moovers is an agent for National Van Lines -- Moovers will take your order, and load up your stuff, but it's actually a National Van Lines truck that will move it across the country. We booked a move from California to Maine for the end of May Our interactions with Moovers were fine. Mike, the salesperson, is super-friendly and helpful, and their price was definitely the best. The guys who came out to our house to load up were OK. The crew foreman (Greg?) was a bit of a space case and had to call into the office for literally every question we had. But the laborers were hard-working and efficient, and careful with our stuff. We were frustrated that we got overcharged -- Mike told us that they would take the cost of shipping two canoes off our bill if we ended up carrying them ourselves. We did, but then they wouldn't remove those charges later (they took part of them off, but not the whole cost). We didn't fight this that hard, because Mike had also slightly under-estimated the weight of our stuff. (Technically, it's their problem if they underestimated -- they can't charge you more than the binding estimate they give). If it were just Moovers we dealt with, I'd probably give them 2.5 or 3 stars. However, once our stuff got passed off to National, disaster! We had a delivery window from June 5 through 12. When we hadn't heard from them by June 6, we called, and they couldn't tell us anything. Then, they called back the next day and told us we had an "extended delivery window" of June 25. Tried to tell us it was the weather (BS -- we know because we were driving the same route our truck should be on!). Clearly, they just didn't find it cost effective to move our stuff when they were supposed to. Getting any info from them is a disaster. Customer service agents know nothing and almost never call you back when they're supposed to. Our belongings didn't even get PICKED UP from the warehouse in California until the day after the original latest arrival day. We still don't have our stuff, though they're now saying it'll arrive June 26th (they can't even meet their EXTENDED window!!!) They basically don't give a crap that you're delayed, and as a consumer, you have very few rights when they are late. This is my 7th interstate move, and it has been by far the worst. I will never use a National Van Lines agent again. We'll be filing a claim for whatever expenses we can get from them, and also a Better Business Bureau complaint. My advice is to stay far, far, far away from Moovers for an interstate move, unless they start working with another long distance agent. read more

I am the Controller of an Auto Dealership in San Rafael and have used Moovers twice for office moves. The first to install carpet and the 2nd to move an entire office building due to a remodel. In both cases they were organized, fast and efficient. They provided not only clear and helpful instruction but tools such as labels and special made bags to help keep the computer extras organized. The large crew they sent dismantled and reassembled everything without a glitch. They did a complete walk through at the end and made sure that we were 100% satisfied. We were moved into our temp building and up and running within hours. Oh, and they came in under bid. We were so impressed that we tipped all 12 guys. We will definiltely be using them when we move back into our newly remodeled building in a few months. read more

We used Moovers Inc November 2014 to move from CA to VA. They arranged for a delivery at a last minute request. They came out and did a consultation which was almost spot on. The company that did the loading in CA was different from the delivery. I was told Moovers Inc would be the drivers all the way through. Took took 3 days longer than estimated to arrive so rather than coming on a weekend came on a weekday which made it a little difficult as had get off work. The part that hurt Moovers Inc was that only the truck driver did all the moving so that took 6 hours. Only a few things got knicked but nothing major to report a claim. It was hard to get a hold of the company for questions once the stuff was loaded on to the truck in CA. So like many companies, once the sale was done they were out of the scene. They do let you pay for the move all at once up front with a card rather than having to split up the payment. The driver did put most of the stuff back together that they took apart to move however a couple of things weren't. Plus I had left over screws which was a concern. read more

Charles came to our house and gave us an estimate for our move that was reasonable, and we actually came in several hundred under estimate because the movers were efficient. Keith confirmed our move by email, and then by phone call 24 hours ahead of time again. The crew of 3 showed up on time within the 2-hour start window, were ready to go, and moved our 2 bed/ 1 bath with basement and shed storage to our new house in about 6-7 hours total. They were gentle with our furniture, and somehow put our bedframe back together better than it was before! I would absolutely hire these guys again for our next move. read more

They were absolutely the best. They made my parents feel very comfortable and they went above and beyond the call. If I could rate them a 10, I would. We used Moovers for a local SF to Berkeley move, and they were great. Very reasonable price, really fast work, nice guys, no hidden anything (fees, penalties, etc.) They did exactly what they said they would do, showed up on-time, and actually did some really difficult moving work for us with no complaints (3 flights of concrete stairs, moving furniture into 3rd story tricky loft space). We had 1 piece of furniture get nicked which was a bummer, and i didn't notice until later that day after they'd gone (and there was nothing they could do about it anyway). But all in all, pretty much as good a moving experience as you could hope for! read more
