Moulton Ranch Cabins - View of gate outside the property

    Moulton Ranch Cabins

***This place is now closed... ****…read more ....but it was saved also by an anonymous donor, whom then donated the property and cabins to the National Park for employee housing. We absolutely adore (former owners and Moulton Ranch hosts) Hal and Iola Blake.. and had stayed here numerous times. We ate dinner with the two one evening and it was a privilege. They were, and still are, wonderful people, whom sold the facility after having run it for many years. When we did stay here, Hal and/or Iola were up from sunrise to sunset doing yardwork, maintenance. They truly poured their heart and soul into this place. It was an absolute honor to have stayed here. I recall numerous times during various stays here, we'd awaken around 3 AM and go outside and saw more stars than ever before. We saw bear on the property during several stays. We saw buffalo stampedes running down the gravel road in front/back in fields as well. I also recall, from our cabin window, we saw a buffalo stand off against horses in a field. The National Park kept horses in a nearby field, fenced, and a buffalo jumped the fence.. as it did, the horses lined up shoulder to shoulder and stared at the buffalo. The buffalo looked at them, then trotted and jumped over the other side of the fence, as it was "cutting through." We also saw a coyote sleeping by our cabin during the day. We will never forget our stays at this place, nor the views. It was an absolute gem, close the to Park, along Mormon Row. I am betting we took 1000 pictures during our numerous stays at this place. The accommodations were always comfortable, spotless clean, and the owners were amazing hosts. I wish Hal and Iola Blake, and their family, the absolute best in their retirement, as they were two of the nicest, most genuine, down-to-earth people we've ever met anywhere. I cannot imagine we'll ever stay at a more scenic, hidden-gem place ever again in our lifetime.. anywhere. We certainly may never meet nicer people than the Blakes. We really got to know them during our numerous stays here. They are blessed people. I will always smile when recalling our 5 pm walks down the gravel road, petting horses, smelling the mountain air, with mountains in all directions. I will also never forget our first stay here, years ago... what a spectacular experience we had each stay....

Stayed in the "Grand" cabin. Literally our front door walked out on a deck with the full view of…read morethe Grand Teton Mountains. We had wild Bison walking just outside the fence so you could get great pictures (safely). Iola is a fantastic host. The place is VERY clean, has a great full kitchen and outdoor gas grill. They also have a fire pit for s'mores if the wind isn't too bad! The cabin fit our family of 4 well, larger families might be a little cramped. The place is very quiet, and rustic. They have wifi but it's weak and there's no phone or TVs, although Verizon service does work there. Great place to completely unplug and you are minutes from everything the Grand Teton National Park has to offer. Would definitely return and recommend, even though its a little pricey - well worth it.

We didn't really know what to expect, especially after driving through Dubois (pop. 962). We are from southern California and love to get away from everything that is 'city/suburb life'. We pulled through the log arch and onto the property. We crossed a small bridge spanning the Wind river, continued on the dirt road and parked in front of our cabin. It was as awe-inspiring as the pictures from their website. About 10 minutes after we arrived, Martin (the owner) drove up and introduced himself. We had a wonderful conversation. He was very welcoming, answered all of our questions and suggested numerous activities that we may want to undertake during our stay. He advised us of the scenic areas we could visit at the time (it had recently snowed so certain places/roads were closed). He was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure we had plenty of options from which to choose. He even took the quads that they have available and scouted the trails in the area to make sure they were safe and clear of debris should we want to use them. The cabin, along with the entirety of the property, was immaculate. The kitchen was stocked with all necessities, as well as some non-essentials that certainly proved helpful. To make a long story longer, we had an amazing stay. It was, without question, our favorite vacation and a big part of that was because of Martin and the Big Diamond Ranch. Thanks again Martin (and family)! We'll be seeing you again soon.

Staff had great recommendations on local area, wonderful customer service, super helpful. Excellent location if you are catching live music across the street at The Goat, best local's hangout, venue & bar in the area for some walkable nightlife. Super clean, easy parking & access. Comfortable beds. Look forward to returning! Going to be a great winter & this is the spot to stay in the area!

However, when you have 8 or 10 families splitting that price, it can be an affordable option. We tend to stay for an entire week. Nestled in the back corner of St. Anthony, Idaho, you can see the Tetons from the lodge and it's surrounded by grain and hay fields. (If you have allergies, be sure to bring your pills!) There is also a small-ish pond nearby with a couple canoes that you can play in. With 11 queen beds and a bunk bed, this sleeps a lot of adults (and you can pitch some tents outside as well on their large lawn and field). There is also a bunk room that sleeps at minimum 16 kids, 20 or more if they're little. It's a great place to dump all the cousins and grand kids at night. There are also 6 bathrooms, a washer & dryer, and wireless internet (though it can be dreadfully slow and spotty and different places in the lodge... they need to add a signal extender or another base station). There's a hot tub, tennis court, baseball diamond, volleyball net, air hockey, climbing wall, giant building blocks, ping pong, foosball, pool, and more. There's a slide that goes down into the bunk room and a separate small gym with balls and scooters and another slide for kids to play in. Basically, kids come here and play play play play play, and as a parent that's exactly what you're looking for. Low maintenance, high enjoyability. The kitchen is spectacular with two large industrial refrigerators, two ovens, and a large freezer and a deep freeze. There is also plenty of cupboard space. The kitchen comes stocked, but the quality of the cookware is sub-par (to be expected). If you're particular about your knives, you'll want to bring your own. The ones at the lodge are dreadfully dull. With a Broulim's grocery store just down the street as well, food is never too far away. As an added bonus, there's a large dumpster out back by a shed where you can toss your garbage once the cans fill up. One thing you should be aware of is that with a pond nearby, there are mosquitoes everywhere. Be sure to bring your spray or you'll be eaten alive. All in all, this is perhaps the best reunion center we've found to date. It comes highly recommended in my book.
