Signal Mountain Lodge…read more Visited the Grand Teton area and wanted to stay in a location that offered amenities close to our activities. Maximizing our limited time to be within the National Parks avoids the longer distances of outside lodging and lines at the entrance stations into the parks. This is an establishment that appears well run and the complex of Registration building, Restaurant and Gift shop, General Store, Gas Station and Laundromat are all relatively close to one another in a walkable distance. Those who have more mobility issues would find a large parking lot centralized to these structures and an ability to get into the restaurant more easily where it is paved. There is a layout of cabins that face the gloriously beautiful Jackson Lake with great views of the Tetons in the background. There is a Marina office where you could check out their boating services and the cabins not on the waterfront facing areas are just a short walk away to access views of the shoreline. It was very peaceful and quiet when we were there. We stayed in a Double Queen Country room that adjoined another room. The rooms were clean, well appointed with a large counter and sink area. I'm always a bit leery of new places at higher elevations of being able to provide enough warmth at higher elevations but we did not have that problem. The room warmed up very quickly with their easy to use thermostat. There was a phone line we could call the front desk if needed. They did mention they would provide WiFi in your room but understand even those connections can be sporadic when you are situated around these wide open environments. The beds were comfortable and bedding kept me nice and toasty. Laundromat takes tokens and you can use a credit card to get those. The nearby campground area also uses their facility and they also have showers available to campers. The only recommendation I would leave is perhaps a little better lighting near the entryways into the cabin areas. Darkness descends very quickly after sunset and I would be sure you carry good portable flashlights if you decide to walk to the restaurant at night or out for a night stroll. The other benefit in staying in this location is that you can take the Signal Mountain road up to its summit which offers a great view of the surrounding area. You are paying for the convenience of location. The cabins are dark woods, rustic but sturdy, nothing fancy but covers what you would need for a nice respite in the outdoors.

The cabin also has a wet bar with cafe machine, well stocked with capsule coffee, hot chocolate and tea. The room itself is within the forest and well shaded. Coming from Hawaii, it is cold for us at its summer nights when the temperature gets into the 50's. But heater is available in the room. The surround forest is beautiful and tranquil. On our daily short walks to the dining room, we were awarded with the fragrant fresh pine tree forest smell, the beautiful view of the Grand Teton Mountain range, and a well designed delicious 5-course meal. The booking includes free breakfast and free dinner. It also includes horse riding around the Jenny lake, free use of the well maintained beach cruisers. The cabin we are in has a wall that is shared by a neighbor. But there are more expensive individuel cabins that are not shared. The location is ideal as it is a short bike ride to the Jenny Lake Visiter Center, it also offers the best wide and well maintained bike route, separate from cars. It is also close the famous hike to Inspiration Point and many more trails. In the end, this was the highlight of our trip. Very expensive, but it you can afford it, go for it!

It's big enough to host a large group of people. There's a also very little concern for food. Considering how far away Grand Teton is from Jackson, it's nice that there are several cafeterias/restaurants above the visiting center. There are a variety of options and a coffee shop that opens up in the morning. There's also another lodge with a restaurant if you want something else to eat. The lodge is very well insulated. It was almost 80 degrees in the lodge by the time we woke up, but it was about 50 degrees outside when we woke up. We slept well, but it would have been nice if it was a bit cooler in the room we stayed in. The bathroom is a bit small, but it seemed fitting considering where we were.

All I knew about it was that it was located in Grand Teton National Park. Driving to it you realize you're very isolated being that it is located about 20 minutes from Jackson. The cabins are part of a greater operation. They share the grounds with Dornan's Pizza and Pasta, grocery store, wine shop, and gift shop. I'll review each individually in this review. The cabins are duplexes that are grouped together in a small circle and are named. We stayed in Osprey. Each has a small porch with a charcoal grill for your barbecuing pleasure, and an ashtray if that's your thing. The decor is comfortable and inviting. The only part of the cabin that has carpet is the bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, stove, and oven with basic cooking apparatus. The living room has a sofa bed and two very large comfortable chairs. There is also this thing called a telephone, but there isn't a tv. The wifi signal is strong and we were able to stream movies with no issues. The Snake River and Grand Tetons are behind the cabins. The view can be pretty incredible depending on the weather. It rained and snowed most of the time during our stay. If you don't feel like cooking, Dornan's Pizza and Pasta is a short walk. The food is pretty good. I had the vegetarian Stromboli and the Mrs. had a pizza. The restaurant also has a bar. If you want booze, there is a wine shop that has a really good selection of wine, beer, and hard alcohol. The prices are pretty reasonable. FYI-Wyoming is one of those states that has archaic liquor laws. Booze can't mingle with regular groceries. There is also a small grocery store and deli that makes incredible sandwiches. I suggest grabbing a sandwich to take with you when explore Yellowstone or the Grand Tetons. If you need souvenirs, Dornan's has that covered as well. You can even buy gas at a rather reasonable price. As accommodation prices go, Dornan's cabins are lower compared to the rest of the area. You don't get the glitz and glamour that is Jackson Hole, but you get peace and quiet. The staff were all very nice as well.

These cabins are located just outside the south entrance to Grand Teton, in a little village complex that includes a gas station, grocery store, liquor store, and a couple of restaurants. One and two bedroom options are available, and each includes a full kitchen, dining table, bathroom, and living room with a pull-out sofa bed. There are only 12 cabins total (8 one-bedroom and 4 two-bedroom). If you're planning a trip, book early because they sell out fast.

The family who run it have been in the industry for 40 years and are passionate about every aspect of the Inn. The feeling when you enter the lobby and dining area is so welcoming and charming! Everyone was so friendly with outstanding service. We stayed in the Harlequin room which the owner told us that Cosmopolitan magazine declared in 2005 that the view from the balcony was the most romantic in the nation. I'd have to agree. We sat out there every night with a glass of wine. The trees rustled slightly in the soft wind, birds chirped happily and the soothing sound of the creek makes for a very enchanting place. Add the incredible view and you don't want to leave. The room was very large, nicely decorated with every amenitie we could ever think of. It's very close to Palisades Lake; a huge expanse of blue water surrounded by breathtaking scenery courtesy of the Teton Mountains. If John Denver were alive, he would probably come here often. The restaurant is actually called "Brenthoven's." The menu is immediately eclectic and gives little hints that the chef- who also runs the bar- knows what he's doing. It's a favorite among backcountry pilots- the reason I was there- and is not only a great little restaurant, but is also a happening bar with an unlikely, interesting clientele. There were 6 of us for dinner, and I have to be honest: nothing was even close to mediocre. All the dishes were simply out of this world. Delicate flavors, bold swaths of color, perfect preparation, world-class presentation. It was amazing. Highlights: The pumpkin soup is like nothing I've ever had. Forget what it's called. Just know it's one of the tastiest little cups of anything you'll ever have the privilege to eat. The Cod Parmesan is the star here. It's a delicate, souffle-like concoction, with a beautiful light cod flavor and a perfect texture. The Parmesan adds JUST the right amount of counterbalance to the cod, along with a myriad of other ingredients. This is the stuff of dreams. I'd fly to Wyoming just to have this. The steak (Rib-eye) was like butter and with enough flavor to satisfy an Argentinian escaping from a vegetarian fat farm. Just excellent. The salads were fresh and crisp and the bread was just--baked. I'm told the drinks in the bar are extra strong...for what that's worth. This is a world-class gourmet restaurant hiding among the cowboy-pseudo-western trappings of Wyoming. Don't let the location fool you, the Nordic Inn could be numbered among the truly great restaurants in the West. It was that good.
