Moore Mechanical attempted to write a bait and switch contract at an inflated price to enrich Moore by taking money from my pocket. I asked for a Generac Generator model 7210. Kevin B. came out for the estimate and wrote the contract. He brought an electrician. Kevin switched me to a Honeywell generator model 7213 as, Moore has a better relationship with Honeywell. Nothing was said about cost or how it would benefit me. Kevin said a Honeywell generator model 7213 is the same as Generac model 7213, except it is branded as Honeywell and is Honeywell's product. I found this to be FALSE. It is the same as a Generac model 7209 which costs about $600.00 less and doesn't come with a Transfer Switch which Moore has to buy separately and put in the contract as an equipment item with no cost showing. The contract total sum was $25, 049.00. There were no other costs shown in the contract to allow me to add up the costs to equal the total sum. The contract wanted payment of 50% at signing of the contract. $12,524.50 at signing. The generator would not be available for about 3 months. Moore wanted to keep $12,524.50 for about 3 months. The California State Licensing Board (CSLB) requires $1,000.00 or 10% of the contract, whichever is less as the initial cost. I feel it is attempted extortion. When I asked Kevin B. to comply with the requirements of the CSLB by changing the initial cost, by inserting my cost of all equipment shown, including the generator itself, I received an email from Owner, Steve Moore saying he withdraws the contract. From setting the appointment on the phone, to the last workman leaving the property, they were top notch. When we decided to redo our HVAC system, we assessed quotes from a total of 10+ HVAC contractors of which the shortlisted to the following vendors: Service Experts, Delta Mechanical and Moore Mechanical. We ended up doing the PG&E Advanced Home Energy Upgrade program via Moore Mechanical. We had an independent advisor from BayREN Energy Advisor (They are a government backed organization who helps with consulting on Home energy upgrades for non-profit) consult on assessment of scope and statement of work. We worked with Kevin from the assessment, defining the project scope, cost and schedule estimation and completion. They were extremely transparent with breaking down the cost by work item which helped us explore options on what to include in the scope and what not and not going over our budget and still not compromising on our priorities for the project. The factors that made us choose them were: 1. They were PG&E certified Home Upgrade and Advanced Home Upgrade Professionals. 2. Their statement of work spelled out every single detail that that was in scope in plain simple English for us laymen to understand. 3. They were not pushy, didn't want to up-sell anything. 4. They were always available to provide the rationale behind each of their recommendations in the areas in scope. 5. They were patient in answering all our questions and if it was not something they knew immediately, they would go back and get back to us with proper explanation. PROJECT MANAGEMENT: 9.9/10 We almost made a decision to go with one of the other vendors since we were in the middle of one of the hottest summers with no AC. But sanity prevailed and we decided to take the right course and do it RIGHT! Kevin walked us through phase by phase from initiation, scope definition, site assessment, cost and schedule estimation without any problems. You could tell that what mattered to them was to ensure that they remain honest and do their best throughout. PRE-ASSESSMENT EXPERIENCE: 8/10 They subcontract the HERS test via EnerGuy. The tests identified that we had asbestos in the boots of the AC ducts (which brought our project to a halt as Asbestos removal was #1 priority before any work could be done, which meant additional costs). The tests were otherwise uneventful. RESPONSIVENESS: 9/10. Their scheduling department (Jamie, Nichole and the rest of the team) is awesome and their tech guys guys are a stickler for being on time (which is awesome!) Jesse, Byron, Nick and the rest of their tech team is extremely knowledgeable and their attention to detail is great! Not a single And Kevin - He is not your regular sales person who washes his hands after he gets you to buy, no sir! You can tell that he had plenty of knowledge in the system and technology that he is selling and he will ensure that he channels your information correctly and keeps you updated throughout the process. Even after the project was complete, he has continued to help in answering questions. QUALITY OF WORK: 10/10. No questions here. From filing the papers for the permit and ensuring that everything is done to the detail as defined by the statement of work, they aim to please the customer (means a lot to us!) No matter what you do, everyone knows you cannot include every single detail in the scope document, but when there were gray areas that came up, they offered a reasonable solution even if that meant that they had to go above and beyond. They respect your home and ensure they leave it in at least the same condition as it was (yes, they clean up after their work and don't leave a mess). QUALITY OF EQUIPMENT: 10/10. They specialize with Carrier (the company that practically invented the concept of HVAC and are transparent about the equipment costs unlike Lennox and other competition). The products are of the highest quality. We have no regrets of spending what we did to get the project completed to our satisfaction. COST (vs. their competition): 10/10. Their rates are competitive on all the fronts. So, it was very easy for us to choose them over their competition. Just know this - if their competition are offering something at a cheaper price, there is ALWAYS a compromise (equipment, labor, installation, etc.) which will hurt you sooner than later. MAINTENANCE: 10/10. What separates them from the others is that hey stand behind their promises. We learned it the hard way with our previous system and the service providers. PAPERWORK: 10/10. We had to look for financing options from a third party which required the project scope and costs estimates defined in detail. The financial institution did not have any trouble approving the funds and was satisfied with initial paperwork. I got a chance to speak to Steve Moore for clarifications and he was very supportive of helping with any extra paperwork needed so that the project doesn't get delayed. Very professional, knowledgeable and priced reasonable. Appointment was made over the phone and the lady who answered the phone was very courteous and upfront with the service call charge. Technician (Sean) came in on time (they called 20 min prior to arrival) and was very systemic with trouble shooting. Within 20 minutes he was able to diagnose and fix what caused the problem (no heat coming off from the downstairs vent) by reconnecting a wire in the attic. No upselling or BS diagnosis. The charge was reasonable. I can't be more than happy with the experience. I had another company (covered by home warranty) came in last week and they were not able to figure out what was causing the problem. I can't believe how bad this company's service could be! I would give negative stars if I had a choice. Back forward 3 days ago, I reached out to them because our AC unit was down. It's a warranty issue and I explained that I'd called the manufacturer and established a case, and they just had to work with them on reimbursement. They scheduled an appointment for me for 3 days later on Friday. The second day they called me back and told me that they are still working on communicating with the manufacturer. The third day, they still called me and told me the same thing. I was patiently waiting for them to get the reimbursement straightened out because I wanted them to get paid probably for the project. On the fourth day which is the appointment day, they called me and said that they called the manufacturer and was told that the case was closed. They advised me that I needed to call them to reopen the case, which I did. When I called them back, I was told that they couldn't help me anymore because they didn't have the capacity to help me due to COVID-19. I questioned why they didn't tell me in the first place 4 days ago while I kept on telling them that we're suffering with no cool air in the house!!! This is insane! How could they treat customers like this when we are going through the toughest time in this pandemic and also suffering heat being have to stay home by order! This review is for the dryer vent cleaning service. Victor did a great job. Scheduling: easy to do over the phone, though there is a window of time, once I had an issue where I couldn't make just an hour of the window, but could make the other hours, and they were pretty accommodating. Punctual: Yes- he arrived in the window of time agreed upon Clean: Yes- he put on booties before entering the house and left it clean. Knowledgeable/Courteous: Yes, he was nice about answering questions about the process, and when we might need it serviced again. What he did: cleaned out the dryer vent on a second floor laundry room that terminated on the roof Price: Reasonable Payment: Easy- they take credit cards. How great was it? So great, I scheduled him to clean another dryer vent at a different rental house I manage. What he did: cleaned out the dryer vent on a first floor laundry room that had a few turns that terminated at an exterior wall He removed A LOT of debris/lint (even some leaves/stuff like an old bird nest). So glad he came when he did, as we had no idea it was so full of lint. Why I so especially appreciate their work: - To compare, before I found Moore Mechanical, I tried two other companies. The first one accidentally clogged the vent line, and left the tenant with a non working dryer vent. Moore came to the rescue and figured out the lint had been pushed down the vent into a pile that bunched up and created a blockage. They unblocked it- Thanks Jorge. The second one charged me full price even though upon arrival it turned out there wasn't much if anything to clean because that vent vented directly out to a side wall, and their van left oil stains on the formerly clean driveway. We had a problem with the AC system they installed about 2 years ago so I called Nicole. She was extremely professional - nothing like the previous girl that answered phones. We also signed up for the semi-annual maintenance. When our AC (it was very old) died last summer, we again used Moore Mechanical to install a new AC and heater. I recently had Moore Mechanical replace my two gas furnaces. Vince Meyer was very helpful in helping me correctly size and choose the appropriate systems. He was responsive to my nearly endless questions. They also help me select whole house air purifiers and installed them simultaneously. The crew that installed the systems worked very hard under less than ideal circumstances. It rained constantly and the crawl space was a muddy mess. He had the required parts with him (rare these days) and was able to resolve the problem in the single visit. What can I say but AWESOME SERVICE!!!! We needed to have air conditioning​ installed desperately​​. I know that we are very lucky to live in the bay area for the great weather. I called up and spoke to a very nice person who scheduled an estimate for the installation of a split air conditioner​​ unit. Jesse was the gentlemen​ that came out and was very knowledgeable​ and very helpful in explaining​ the whole process. Because​ of my schedule,​ the installation​​ time had to be at a time that is a bit later than they normally do these types of installations, however,​ they worked on a way to make it happen. ​Jesse also did the installation with another gentleman and what a great job they did. Excellent​ quality work through and through. Jesse has such a calming personality and really knows his stuff. They really took time to prep the area before​ they got started to protect furniture and they barely made any mess at all. Amazing!!!!. Before Jesse left he showed me all the work that had been done. They did a walk through and had a vacuum​ to get any dust that was left. You would have never known they were there. The temperature​ outside was 103 degrees so once the unit was operational Jesse turned it on and finished the cosmetic​ work outside. He wanted to make sure we were comfortable as soon as possible​. Within​ ten minutes,​ the room felt wonderful. Jesse and his assistant​ finished​ and they went on to their next job. I always comment on my reviews about how the area is left after the job is done. I highly recommend Moore Mechanical for your HVAC needs. I had my entire system replaced: 38-year-old AC, 20-year-old furnace and all my ducting. The duct redesign and installation was done by AJ Heating and Cooling working closely with Moore (I also highly recommend AJ H&C). I got three estimates for the project. While Moore was not the lowest cost (although they did come down some when I reported the competitive bids), they were the ONLY company that properly evaluated the entire system design. My main problem has always been inadequate cooling of the master bedroom suite, which is on the second floor on the opposite end of the house from the AC. I told all 3 estimators that solving this problem this was a priority for the new system. Moore Mechanical was the only one that concluded that the main problem was the size of the duct riser to the second floor; there was only a single 12-inch riser for over 1300 sq ft. (A bit of internet research verified their recommendation with typical rules of thumb for air flow required per ton of AC and corresponding duct diameter.) In the new design, I now have a 12 inch riser just to the MB suite and a second 8 inch riser for the other two bedrooms. I also converted to a two-zone system - upstairs and downstairs. What a difference the new duct design and two-zone control has made in air flow and cooling! Moore also included a post-installation independent system evaluation by BayREN which qualified me for $1400 in PG&E efficiency rebates. If I had not chosen Moore Mechanical, I am afraid I would have ended up with a new AC but the same poor cooling of the master bedroom. read more

Moore Mechanical was referred to me by a colleague May 2017: I turned on my AC and only heat came through I called Moore to schedule appointment and to pay for an annual maintenance fee contract (Priority Scheduling, 2 maintenance checks a year and small discount for any repairs). 1st visit: I was told the problem is probably in the slab but that I can purchase blue dye (appear where there are any leaks). Next person that comes out should be able to see the leak with an infra ray tool. 2nd visit: He wasn't experienced in using the glass' to detect leaks, but did the maintenance check. 3rd visit: I was told the leak is in the outside condenser, I saw the blue dots, (i was told it indicates where the leak is). 4th visit: Aug 19th - 2018, the new condenser was installed: (Priority scheduling...May - August ) 2017 was an extra hot summer! May 2018: 1st visit: maintenance person came out and gave me bad news, the refrigerant was gone, I have another leak! 2nd visit: leak is in the inside condenser, I saw a blue spray pattern. I was told to run the system every day for a week, 15 minutes a day, they will come out to verify where the leak is located. 3rd visit: same spray pattern still there, the person that was here was convinced it was my inside condenser. I asked to look at the outside condenser and there were also blue spots on the condenser (new one). The person that was here dismissed those dots. The hand device that was used to detect leaks, actually convinced me that there was no leak on the inside and that he should have his boss call me to discuss this situation. There was a bit of phone tag, but eventually I talked with him (service manager), after I had asked to speak to his manager. I put it like this. If it was his mom receiving this news about a second major repair, what would he tell her to do? In summary and this is in my words and how I understood him: I was told if I want my AC to work I need to get it fixed. I explained to many Moore employees that I have owned two AC units and over 25 years I never paid for major repairs. I also mentioned if they believe/think this could a jinxed unit then maybe I should instead buy a new one. 8 years old. I won't mention the amount of money I gave Moore, its embarrassing. May 2018: I called another AC Company, 1st person here, told me that the coil/condenser's and connecting pipes have no leaks, It's in the slab. They were out here within 2 weeks and completely, repiped my house and it is still working! I wanted to make sure that it was fixed correctly before I left this on yelp. read more

As part of a remodeling project we needed to relocate an air handler for our Mitsubishi Mr.Slim ductless system to another room. It's an Eichler home with no attic space, so moving refrigerant and power lines through the roof is not trivial at all. Having first met with utter incompetence from the company that originally installed the system, we reached out to Moore based on all the great reviews here. And we were not disappointed. Consultant/Salesperson Vince came out on a fairly short notice, showed competence and knowledge, and gave me a fair quote. We scheduled the install, but that day the rain was pouring and the installers flat out refused to puncture the roof in the rain and risk leaks. At the time it was very frustrating but in hind sight they acted very professionally and knew what was best. A couple weeks later an experienced technician Byron (sp?) showed up and did a beautiful job relocating the unit and sealing the roof. He didn't leave till we tested everything out and had all my questions answered. Overall, I feel this business possesses competence, experience, integrity, and pride of craftsmanship. First off, let me say the installation of our new A/C system went off without a hitch. The techs and installers were great, and I applaud them. Their superiors and office personnel are a different story, however. We ran into problems with our Ecobee thermostat...had a mind of it's own and felt a need to heat our home to 83 degrees every night. It was still under warranty, so we called Moore...and called...and called...and called. 5 times, left messages every time. We got no return calls. I started to believe no one was working in the office until I actually got a human being on the phone. They sent a tech out, he was great. We all agreed the thermostat had to be replaced. He told me our salesman, "Vince," would call me to take care of the problem, so we waited for Vince to call, and waited...and waited...and waited. He never called. We started calling Moore again, left messages and again, no one called us back. Finally we just decided to go out and buy a Google Nest and replace the Ecobee. We gave up on Moore honoring their warranty. Several weeks later, out of the blue, "Brooke" calls from Moore (only after I sent an email) and apologizes. She offers to pay for the new thermostat, no questions asked. I said "great, you've restored my faith in your company!" So I waited for the check...and waited...and waited. After a month, I emailed Brooke and asked about the check. She said she would look into it. So I waited again...and waited...and waited. As I write this, still no check. Worst customer service ever, and I've made sure to tell my neighbors about my experience. So, to the techs who put our system in, you get A's...thank you. Scheduling a service was easy and Ian came in and quickly diagnosed the heater problem accurately. He even explained in simple words what was wrong. Our downstairs AC unit went out right in the middle of Sunday's blistering 100+ degree heatwave! I called for a service appointment first thing Monday morning and spoke with Gloria. Gloria was friendly and courteous and was able to get us an appointment for Wednesday morning between 7:30 and noon. Rick showed up on Wednesday morning exactly at 7:30! How often does someone show up at the front end of a time window? Never! Rick was extremely friendly and tolerated my rambunctious 5 month old 65 lb puppy. Rick diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes and quickly started to fix it. Rick mentioned we may want to replace the same part on our upstairs AC unit but he didn't pressure us to make a decision either way. About four years ago another company came out to service my AC unit, and the technician told me how my 7 year old unit was on its last leg and I should consider a replacement. Moore's technician, Jesse, came to my house for a problem with the AC and explained how it was a fairly simple fix and said it should easily last another 15 years. Made an appt. to have them look at my air conditioning unit as it wasn't keeping our home cool. They charge $95 for an inspection which seems to be standard in the industry. Within a few days of calling I get an appt. to have a technician came out to check the system. The inspector was prompt and found several potential problems. He said he would provide us a bid within three days. At this point I was very impressed with the service, but then a week later Kevin (another employee) wants to take a look at the system, states he'll get us a bid. A day later he now wants a third person to inspect the system. Another week goes by and no bid, no phone call. In the mean time the temperatures are in the triple digits. Bottom line I emailed Kevin through his office and my husband receives a call. Kevin explained he just wanted to make sure they had the problem correct, and even if we contracted with them which he didn't think we wanted to at this point, they can't help us for over a month. Why weren't we told this up front? I would have selected another company. I now have to start over and pay another company to come out and inspect my HVAC while the weather continues to be in the high 90 degrees. We have planned a 1,300 sf addition and remodel and Moore Mechanical will not be bidding the new HVAC systems. I was referred to this company by my Neighborhood website. I will definitely let my neighbors know this company has failed to follow through. read more
