Decided I was done with that! I went online to book and picked a stylist who had minimal reviews and lots of appointments. When I got there we spent time discussing my hair, what I was looking for and my experiences in the past (she actually understood what I wanted). Then she asked me how I came to book with her. I told her I found the appointments online and she had lots...meaning only two things...she was horrible or new. I then told her I figured it would not be worse than the chop shops, just more expensive. I walked out with a big smile on my face, a wonderful cut and color and an appointment for down the road. Her name is Shannon and she did a great job. Long time experience doing hair in L.A. area but now living in our great PNW.

My stylist was Jen G…read more I came to the salon with multiple inspiration photos and had a detailed consultation about the look I wanted. I specifically requested a cool-toned ash balayage with depth at the root and brighter ends, and I clearly communicated that I wanted to avoid warm, golden, or brassy tones. In fact, warm golden tones were my one clear "hard no." When the service was finished, the result looked much more like traditional highlights throughout the hair rather than the balayage effect shown in the reference photos. The color was significantly warmer than what we had discussed. What was most frustrating was what happened next. During the blow dry, I asked what toner had been used. I was told it was a golden blonde toner and was also told, "I know you didn't want that, but I had to use it because of chemistry. If I used the color you wanted, your hair would have turned green." My concern is not that professional judgment was used. My concern is that this conversation happened after the toner had already been applied. If the original plan was no longer achievable, I would have appreciated being informed beforehand and given the opportunity to discuss alternatives and make an informed decision about how to proceed. I like to be given the opportunity to consent, not have it stripped from me. I was polite and respectful, but I expressed that I was unhappy because the final result did not resemble the inspiration photos I had provided. Initially, my stylist agreed to a correction appointment. After further discussion and after I contacted the salon in hopes of speaking with the owner about alternative options, I never received a call back. Instead, my stylist later informed me by text that she had heard I spoke to a colleague in an unprofessional manner. That allegation was surprising and upsetting because it is simply not true. At that point, the stylist stated that she no longer wished to continue with the corrective service and offered a refund. While I appreciate receiving a refund for the service itself, the gratuity was not refunded despite the refund being described as a "full refund." The most disappointing part of this experience was not the hair color itself. Hair can be corrected. What left a lasting impression was the breakdown in communication, the lack of follow-up from management, being accused of behavior that did not occur, and ultimately losing confidence that my concerns were being heard. She tried blaming me since I was sick and didn't call them immediately. The salon owner told the BBB they would give me a free haircut to fix the problem. Ok, I accept that from another stylist, sure. I'm not looking to rip them off, I just want normal looking hair like I paid for. When I tried calling the salon to make an appointment for a fix a while later (brave, looking back) the person on the phone said I wasn't allowed there and nobody there would cut my hair! I didn't curse at these people, yell at them, or do anything disrespectful just to be clear. I don't have her anymore and I just had a baby and my hair was driving me crazy as it was way too long. I figured I'd go to the mall for a hair cut as I don't have to wait for an appointment and I wanted it done that day because I was just over the length and look of it.. I knew it wouldn't be a good idea but I also thought I was thinking the worst and overthinking it just because my sister has always done my hair. She takes her time (with all her clients) and layers it to perfection no choppy look or odd sections.... Well I sat down and the lady didn't even talk to me to ask what I wanted... where is the customer service???? I showed her what I wanted.. left within minutes and the layers I asked for look so horrible!!! I knew as soon as she did the first two chops and didn't spray even water or check to see if it comes out correctly she just went chopping away. Do not recommend at all. Ladies save yourself seriously. I'll be going to another place to get this cut fixed so bummed!!
