I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience. My stylist was Jen G…read more I came to the salon with multiple inspiration photos and had a detailed consultation about the look I wanted. I specifically requested a cool-toned ash balayage with depth at the root and brighter ends, and I clearly communicated that I wanted to avoid warm, golden, or brassy tones. In fact, warm golden tones were my one clear "hard no." When the service was finished, the result looked much more like traditional highlights throughout the hair rather than the balayage effect shown in the reference photos. The color was significantly warmer than what we had discussed. What was most frustrating was what happened next. During the blow dry, I asked what toner had been used. I was told it was a golden blonde toner and was also told, "I know you didn't want that, but I had to use it because of chemistry. If I used the color you wanted, your hair would have turned green." My concern is not that professional judgment was used. My concern is that this conversation happened after the toner had already been applied. If the original plan was no longer achievable, I would have appreciated being informed beforehand and given the opportunity to discuss alternatives and make an informed decision about how to proceed. I like to be given the opportunity to consent, not have it stripped from me. I was polite and respectful, but I expressed that I was unhappy because the final result did not resemble the inspiration photos I had provided. Initially, my stylist agreed to a correction appointment. After further discussion and after I contacted the salon in hopes of speaking with the owner about alternative options, I never received a call back. Instead, my stylist later informed me by text that she had heard I spoke to a colleague in an unprofessional manner. That allegation was surprising and upsetting because it is simply not true. At that point, the stylist stated that she no longer wished to continue with the corrective service and offered a refund. While I appreciate receiving a refund for the service itself, the gratuity was not refunded despite the refund being described as a "full refund." The most disappointing part of this experience was not the hair color itself. Hair can be corrected. What left a lasting impression was the breakdown in communication, the lack of follow-up from management, being accused of behavior that did not occur, and ultimately losing confidence that my concerns were being heard. Others may have a different experience, but unfortunately this was mine. Stylist was Jen G.

We were all excited for her. I messaged Ana several times and sent pictures of the choices she wanted since I was not taking her. When I got home from work, my husband said she charged 300 dollars!! I was shocked. It took me a couple days to text Ana about my concern in the price. Her response was her hair was long and thick and she had to use a lot of product. I have since called around several high end salons and they too were shocked by the price. Ana, should have text or called me and let me know how much this was going to cost. When I told her this was a third more then what we get a month for her she didn't seem to care. Lesson learned here. If you're not worried about communication on your stylists part, this is the salon for you. Otherwise I suggest finding someone else.

ALTERED IMAGE SALON Stylist: TWILA WILLIAMS…read moreSubstandard Unauthorized Cut May 16th, 2025: BEWARE! I had invested five years in a going silver grow-out to the middle of the back length. As a first-time client, I directed Twila to keep the length to two inches below my shoulders, a straight blunt cut of the back and sides, a feathered cut on top near my face, and create a top V area on the right side to stop the long hair drag, which was expected to be a graduated blend with the part showing as on the left side. Twila, a Stylist for "28 years", cut above not below my shoulders, it is collarbone length, then cut short layers like thinning which layered all through out the back and side, and alongside face, plus the ends are not even at all, the ends are oddly finely cut layers, like edge of a new broom. The back has odd shorter under layers that make it split above the collar, left/right. A mess! It is impossible to control or keep the clips or hair from slipping out. `Altered` is an appropriate name. It will take a long time to grow out before my hairstyle can be restructured! This cut shames stylists who have pride in their craft! Twila Williams in La Center ruined my trust and ritual joy in Ladies Day at the salon by giving me an unauthorized cut, which was below the normal professional standard! Tip: Be sure you are facing the mirror, and not distracted by stylists chatting. Due Diligence, I only found the good reviews when I decided on Altered Image. Let me fix that!
