I discovered Moonlight Motors about 4 years ago when they had a coupon for an oil change. I had a BMW and even with coupons every other place I took my car ALWAYS charged me more saying my filters cost more. Not the case with Moonlight Motors. I just got my Silverado back and it drives like its brand new!! My truck was a problem child with a million things wrong with it, I knew it would take a while. They were great with keeping me updated. They sent pictures of things that were broken, rusted, etc. so I could actually see what they were replacing - loved that! They sent me all the diagnostic issues via email, itemized. It's nice to be 'in the know'. Moonlight Motors was fantastic! I brought my Prius in because the check engine light was on. I stressed to Marty that I was on a student budget but needed to figure out what was wrong. Not only were they able to figure out what the issue was, fix it, and help with some other maintenance that a previous shop was supposed to do...all without breaking my bank account. I really appreciated the follow up email the following week to make sure my car was still running smoothly. This is the first time I've written a review on Yelp but, I joined this site just so I could write a review about this business. First, I'd like to start off by saying I'm the pickiest customer you will ever meet. If there is one thing that is overlooked, misspelled, out of place or even if the receptionist didn't give me a smile upon entry....guess what? I'm going to tell the owner and the world about how upset I am. If there is a survey, I'll take it and it's usually due to a bad experience. That being said, as one can tell...I'm a business owner's worst nightmare! I'm super demanding and I expect 5 star treatment for fast food prices! To this day, Moonlight Motors is the ONLY business that has met my 5 star customer service expectations. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty. Their prices are EXTREMELY fair. I know, I shop around and I have compared, as I always do. They have never tried to sell me on things that I don't need. They are HONEST which is a rare quality for this line of work. I would recommend this excellent auto repair shop to any and all. I would trust these gentlemen with my own grandmother. They are fare, well priced, do excellent work and are always on time. It's a shame that there aren't more business owners out there that have adopted the same business model. Wow, I am surprised the owner decided to post a review in response to my review instead of contacting me personally... Someone really interested in keeping customers and providing good customer service would have been more courteous. I don't think the owner read my review quite right and actually just proved my point with his response. I was mainly commenting on the lack of common courtesy that I received. I don't know where he learned to do business, but you never tell a customer that they have (mental) issues beyond repair. Apparently, I need to reiterate my points again because people misinterpret what I am saying. First off, a PHONE CALL would have been nice to let me know that my car was not ready, instead of me finding a ride down there after being told to pick it up and then finding out when I get there that I couldn't pick it up yet. I am not complaining about the time it took to repair, just that a courtesy call was never made. Also, my car was finished and I waited for half an hour (which I could've exaggerated to an hour) after I paid because the mechanics were too lazy to lift the car blocking it and the guy at the register was too busy flirting. I never said anything about a "have a nice day" "satement" either... I said that I didn't say anything to the guy who brought out my car so he RUDELY and SARCASTICALLY said, "you're welcome." What he should have said is "thank you for waiting." Apparently, people who work at this place think that they are entitled to treat customers like crap and haven't stopped to consider that it might be a good idea to treat customers with more respect if they want to keep them. It's a sad thing because my car needs some work done. Any recommendations??? read more

Bummer. I read the great reviews on Yelp and decided Moonlight Motors was our new mechanic. I have a 2008 Toyota Sienna and in June took in it. I knew it needed new brakes and there was a mysterious knock-knock-knock when I would make a left turn. They couldn't find the origin of the knock, but new front and back brakes and $750 I was on my way. Great. 11,000 miles and 5 months later - my wear strip on the front brakes started to squeal. A sign that I needed new brakes?!!! I took it in and they agreed - my brakes looked like they had 60,000 miles on them, rather than the 11,000 miles that they did. Here is the SHOCKER - after they looked at it they called me with the above info and said they put the wrong pads on for this heavy car. They should have chosen a different brand. I had a choice - they would ONLY charge me labor to put the same ones on, or I could upgrade to the correct ones for JUST $150. WHAT?? They made a mistake, admit it, and I have to pay for it?? You have got to be kidding me? We left with our bad brakes, went to pep boys and my husband is putting new pads for $50 today. Oh and that knock-knock-knock is still there. We won't be going back to Moonlight. They are super nice, but don't let that fool you. Off to find a new mechanic.... read more

I took my car in for new brakes on my back tires. They offered a free diagnostic, which took over two hours. When they called me back, Marty gave me a laundry list of things that "really needed" to be done, and totalling about $2,000. When I told him that all I wanted done was the back brakes, he gave me a quote of just under $900. Then I told him I didn't have time to have it done that day, and would have to re-schedule. At this point, the price started dropping as he decided that certain things didn't REALLY need to be done, and that certain parts could be replaced with lower end parts. All of a sudden my quote was down to $350. I went a couple blocks south and had it done for $285, then canceled my appointment with Moonlight. BEWARE of their price quotes. By the way, my battery crapped out only three days later - and that wasn't on Marty's list of "things that needed to be done." read more

I went to this place to get my timing chain timed and have the guides replaced. I told them over and over that I KNEW EXACTLY what I needed, but the guy i talked to didnt want to listen at all. Said something totally different was going to fix the problem of my engine overheating, although it would have maybe helped a little and I probably need that fixed in the long run, that WAS NOT what I needed to be fixed. If they had only listened to me they would have made an $800 fix instead of $100. should have listened. read more

I called in the morning for an oil change for my Porsche Cayenne and they were able to fit me in on short notice and I desperately needed an oil change. At moonlight motors the service was friendly, polite, and professional. After I dropped my car off I received a text which included a thorough analysis of the inspection they did which was very convenient to have for my records. I will come back here because they take time to do a thorough inspection and went the extra mile by dropping my car off home for me, fixed my clock, dog friendly, and left a little pocket of candy for me in my car. I felt valued as a customer and that the money was well spent and reasonable especially compared to Porsche which quoted me $450-500 . I feel confident my car was well taken care of and you don't receive this type of customer service and quality as in the chain stores. The only con I can think of is that I kept passing it, my GPS wasn't clear so maybe a bigger sign would be helpful. Really appreciated having my car dropped off back home to me. I took my almost-10-year- old car in for a repair. While Adam was quick to respond with information, their prices were steep. You cannot buy your own new part and give it to them to do the repair. You must buy the part they have in stock, which is conveniently marked up 100%. Also, you will pay more for labor compared to other local auto repair shops. Here's an example: If your Timex watch had a problem, would you expect to pay the repairs of a $4,000 Rolex watch, a $350 Nixon watch, or a $20 Timex watch? I just wanted a basic item, but felt like they charged me for a Rolex repair (calling other repair shops after wards confirmed my suspicions). read more

I went to Moonlight Motors originally by recommendation from my brother. Knowing how crazy he is about his car I trusted his advice and knew this would be a good shop. I've been to Moonlight Motors about 5 times now since I've moved to California. They are always so kind, caring and understanding. It's a small shop so you get the attention you wouldn't at a larger car repair shop. I've had my back rotors replaced, a brake light replaced, and have had my car inspected multiple times because of its old-ish age. Every time I've been very satisfied with the time and care they've given to my car. Definitely recommend this place! read more

Our first experience with Moonlight Motors was this past spring when we took a trip to Mexico (14 hours drive) and had car trouble. Our friends and their families have been going to Moonlight for 15 years and now I know why. They called Adam numerous times to try to diagnose why the SUV would only start intermittently. We finally figured out that rats had eaten part of the wiring harness and it was shorting out (funny how no issues on the way down? Go figure.). So we worked with a local shop to get it patched up for the long ride home and it made it flawlessly (I talking about an older SUV with over 250k miles on it that is maintained at Moonlight). When I saw we were on the phone with Adam interrupting his workday I mean like 10 times with no issues just thoughtful help. When we got back they diagnosed the portion of the harness and got it fixed by the insurance company. We now take all 5 of our cars to Moonlight Motors for great service. I can't thank the team from Moonlight Motors enough for the attention to detail and caring nature of their organization. Adam is great. Marty is great. The front office staff are first class (I only know some of their names) and the technicians are perfect. They prepared my son's older Tacoma for our drive back to CO for school like they were doing it for their own kid. It ran flawlessly and I know I can always call the shop for advice. We love this place. I also love the handwritten thank you cards you get after some of the service work along with the little box of candy they put in your console sometimes.
