The burgers are always great. Fresh ingredients cooked perfectly. Good selection of craft beers. On Thursday night they do a steak night. I was underwhelmed. The ribeye had good flavor, but it was kinda tough and chewy. A skillful steak chef can take a steak that is select - the lowest grade - and turn it into a tender delicious steak. Since I didn't watch the chef as he prepared the steaks, I cannot say with certainty what he is doing wrong. My suspicion is that he is taking the steaks from the marinade directly to the grill, and this is a mistake. The steak should be taken out of the marinade, put on a plate, and patted down with paper towels to absorb the excess water. After it has been patted dry, it should be brushed with olive oil, and then put on the fire. The result will be a superior a superior steak. I'll come back, order the burgers and beer, but I have no need to order a steak here. read more

The food was incredible; actually had me come back for seconds yesterday. Also love their beer selection. However, I ate twice there yesterday, once around 12, and once around 4. (Only things I had really eaten all day) later at home around 6pm I became extremely sick. Temperature shot up, began having cold chills, couldn't stop sweating and shaking. I Was throwing up and other things I won't mention here. Didn't get more than an hour straight of sleep last night, can't make it to work today and am still feeling pretty bad. It was after 9pm when we got there and I must say, I really found the string outdoor lighting very charming. This venue is very spacious. There is really no place like it that I know of on the west side of town. Moon Tower is located in the old Second Ward district of town. And what a simple and great concept! A very simple beer garden with a covered seating area. Part of the serving area/kitchen is fashioned from an old cargo container. Beer: a great selection of Texas and a few out of state brews. Food: A great selection of Burgers, sandwiches, tacos and such. Their real specialty, however, is creative tube steak! They have a WAGU hot dog as well as lamb, elk, wild boar, deer, pheasant, duck, etc, sausages. They all come with creative toppings or you can specify what you want. It's always a good time at Moon Tower Inn. I decided to switch things up and get a tubesteak instead of my usual tacos. I chose deer and allowed the chef to choose my toppings. What I received was pure perfection. The deer sausage(wiener??) was thicc and juicy, and full of flavor. The pretzel bun was crispy on the outside and the exact texture of a soft pretzel, which I love. Of course I had to ask what toppings I was eating when I picked up my order from the window! The toppings on my tubesteak were sambal mayo, spicy ketchup, onions, relish (dill and not sweet fyi), and mustard. Chef's choice was chef's kiss! This was my first time back at Moon Tower in about 2 years. It still has the same divey charm, the same great selection of rock hits playing over the loud speakers to set the ambience, and the same delicious food to pair with an awesome beer selection and good company. I had a group of friends who just moved here from Cleveland, OH that were looking for a chill place to grab a beer and some food. I asked if they were cool with some hot dogs and a little fresh air and everyone was in. I had the Buffalo dog with all of the fixings. If I didn't have to go to a meeting afterwards I would've gotten 2 hotdog/sausages and went home to go to sleep. The food as always was delicious. I've been to Moon Tower Inn twice. Once for lunch on a Sunday and one for dinner on a Wednesday. Moon Tower Inn is no frills. They have an outdoor patio, a little stand where you order your food and drinks, and that's it. No indoor seating, no air conditioning. What they do have is a good beer selection and various burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, apps, and sides. You order at the stand and then they call your order number when it's ready. They don't have a parking lot but you should be able to find parking on the street pretty easily. On my most recent visit, I ordered both the Cheech and Chong burgers. They season their patties so they're bursting with flavor and they use good ingredients and toppings for their burgers. Wednesday is the day to go for burgers because they're BOGO free. Great deal as the burgers come at about $10 a pop. Moon Tower Inn is a hipster hangout and while it has its limitations, including dirty bathrooms, it's a good spot for some beer and some quality burgers/hot dogs when the weather cooperates.
