I had almost no wait and was brought right back to be setup for an exam and X-rays. The hygienist Juan was funny, comforting, and patient. It was very clear he knew what he was doing, fast but not rushed. Dr. Sloan is incredibly professional and kind. I didn't feel judged or lectured for having waited so long to see the dentist - he slowly walked me through the issues I had - making sure I understood everything and all of my options. I needed a good amount of work done and Dr. Sloan helped me understand what I should prioritize in getting done since there was no way I could afford everything all at once. He was incredibly understanding and took plenty of time to help me understand what I needed done, when, and why and gave me lots of options. Couldn't have asked for a more competent or compassionate dentist! Also - I needed a chipped tooth fixed - which I was very nervous about because I have heard horror stories about the color not matching or the composite being thick but I can't tell the difference between the repair and the actual tooth - it looks so good!

And that co-pay is negotiated and in writing already between the Insurance and the Dentist office. But this dental office showed my co-pay as double what the negotiated rate lists. Why aren't they sticking to the negotiated rate? Is it because they had me sign that paper? I contacted my insurance company. They got the dentist office on the phone and were told, "They can just go somewhere else." This tactic is highly unethical. They know going in they will overcharge beyond what your insurance plan will pay, and you the patient is stuck for the rest. Caveat Emptor.
