Do NOT recommend for anxious dogs. This company has major problems with internal communication. There is also a complete lack of communication with me about changing the walker last minute, despite repeated requests and complaints about this happening again and again. When I first started with this dog walking company, I spoke with the owner Elizabeth who was very reassuring and seemed to have a process in place for getting anxious dogs familiar with their walker. We started off well, with slow meet and greets with our designated walker, and with a plan to start getting my dog familiar with her backup walker. However, after 5 months, they started sending a third walker without notifying me at all. I called and spoke with the owner, who again reassured me. However, this continued to happen, and I learned that our training plan for the backup walker was never communicated. I was redirected to the manager JC, who also stated he would get to the bottom of the issue and solve it, but they continue to send a different walker without notifying me beforehand. read more

Monumentails has been a fantastic partner to me and my husband, and has resulted in some great relationships between my dogs and their walkers (special shout outs to their walkers Chris, Erin, Nick, Will, and Sarah - sorry if I'm missing anyone, we've enjoyed partnering with you all). The walkers are very personable, passionate dog-people, and when you get to know them also all busy and motivated individuals with varied interest areas (management, music, real estate, etc.). My Boston Terrier Ollie started "walking" with them in Somerville, MA (Inman Square area) for puppy potty breaks in 2017/8. He was around 3.5 pounds at that time. When our family grew with our other two adopted dogs (Tucker and Tyson) and got more complicated (and we moved to the Winter Hill area), Monumentails was still always there for us! Our dogs are probably the definition of not easy--one is headstrong, one is anxious and leash reactive, and the other is ball-obsessed and leash reactive as well. Instead of telling us they wouldn't walk our dogs, Monumentails took great care with them: having new walkers trained carefully on our dogs (instead of just inviting a new walker into a situation where their hands would be full and our dogs wouldn't be safe), adapting walks based on weather conditions, even checking to make sure our dogs were walking at the right time after eating. Their attention to detail with our dogs, our home, and our neighbors was always appreciated. Our dogs were always safe and incredibly well taken care of. When we left to go out of town, Monumentails was almost always able to help out and stay in our house with our dogs for the duration of our trip. If we were continuing to live in the area, we would absolutely and without a doubt continue to ask them to care for our dogs. For anyone who is looking for a new walker/boarder, I would highly recommend Monumentails and their walkers. Also, a note that Katie--who is an office manager and has helped with email responses on walk changes and boarding--was always incredibly pleasant, helpful and timely with her responses. She came over for a meeting prior to initiating walks and to go over all of their policies. Monumentails system is great. We've used them for the past 2.5 years, daily for our beagle mix Miso. Unfortunately, we are moving to an area that Monumentails does not service, so we are super bummed about that. Miso LOVES Mike, her walker. They have a great online dashboard system that makes it super easy to cancel and ask for appointments. They are very flexible. You get a QR code on your fridge that the dog walker will tap in and out. You get an email when they arrive,and another email when they leave, including a map of where they walked, whether they did no. 1 or 2, and a note from the walker on how the walk went. Our walker and area manager Nick D. has been the saving grace for our experience with MonumenTails. After some less-than-ideal encounters with the walker initially assigned to us and some communication issues with upper management, Nick turned everything around. He's communicative, understanding, professional, and great with our dog. It can be difficult to entrust our dog to people who don't seem to enjoy or understand the responsibility that comes with this job (I say this as a former dog walker - I know it can be exhausting and grueling. We love Monumentails! We are first time dog owners. Before we even had our pup, Kailey our walker came over just to visit, meet us, and ease my anxieties about leaving him in the crate, etc. She is super helpful and friendly. We used their "puppy walks" 20mins x 2 visits a day. Now our dog has graduated to the once a day 40 minute walk. They are well priced, reliable, and always easy to get in touch with. My schedule changes variably and they are always willing to accommodate. They offer overnight stays too- very helpful for a getaway weekend knowing your dog is safe and with good company they are familiar with. Our walker Kailey is CPR and first aid certified too. :) She leaves notes daily to let you know what your 4 legged friend has been up to. My work schedule can be inconsistent and I try to book Williams shatner's walks at the beginning of the week to give them notice but sometimes I need to make last minute changes and she is always quick and easy to deal with. Shatner definitely seems to love his new routine of staying home. The long commute to work is not his favorite. I love the email updates because its nice to hear how he is doing during the day. J.c. is fantastic and leaves notes with details about his adventure and seems to really tucker him out. They are reasonably priced and completely worth it to have a happy pup when you get home. She is super flexible and very understanding of each dog's unique needs. Our walker, Jeff , is the best. Our puppy absolutely loves him. On the occasions where I have been home when Jeff has dropped him off, Royalston has tried to chase him out the door and it usually takes a treat to lure him back upstairs. MonumenTails is awesome, I highly recommend them. They accommodated my needs in a very short notice, and gave excellent service. I was going away for the weekend and needed someone to walk my dog Saturday and Sunday morning + afternoon, and feed her. They made me feel confident that my dog would be taken care of and given attention. I received pictures and comments after every walk through their PetCheck system, which also lets you know if the dog peed and/or pooped. I could also see their walk route on a map, thanks to the PetCheck GPS. My dog is particularly very shy and had separation anxiety issues in the past, which is why I was skeptical of leaving her in a boarding place. We tried one test night in a Dog Hotel nearby a few days before, but she returned very stressed and it was obvious that she did not enjoy the experience. That is why we decided to try leaving her at home instead and getting walks with Monumentails. This was the best decision ever! I have used Elizabeth and her team since 2005 for 2 dogs: a golden retriever from 2005-2017 and currently our new rescues St. Bernard. Quite frankly, they are like part of the family and I could not have held down a job and taken care of the pets without them. I always feel safe when they are with them: our 115 lb new dog loves Patricia and gives her no trouble and, in fact, JP saved our golden from the bite of another dog. The ease of the on-line system, Pet Check Technology, which I was not as familiar with for our golden, makes it even easier to manage walks. I added a dinner walk so we could actually not have to rush home one evening when we needed it. 100% recommend. read more

Disclaimer -- I am not Monumentails client -- but felt obliged to leave a note about a poor Yorkie I saw being walked today by a walker who just did not care how terrified the dog was. Trembling, wedging itself against a brick wall, nails scratching along the sidewalk as she dragged the helpless little thing along against its will. The walker had earphones in, but I couldn't bring myself not to comment (as a dog-owner and and animal lover) that the poor dog was very obviously petrified. The walker didn't even take out an earphone to reply to me, saying the dog "didn't like to be walked." Not saying this is characteristic of the company as a whole. I have interacted with other Monumentails walkers (e.g. Chavez, who brings dogs to the dog park), who do genuinely seem to care about the dogs and be knowledgeable about how best to provide care/socialization. Regarding the above situation, I was still so upset that I called to inform the owner; she did seem concerned and stated she would address it with the walker promptly. I'm sure quality varies walker-by-walker. If I were to trust this company with my beloved pet, I would schedule a time to be home when they arrived to pick up my dog. If my dog wasn't happy and excited to go, I'd think twice!! read more

Company states solo walks are available yet places you on a wait list, which you could read from the owner yourself if my original post wasn't removed. Also if you happen to be in the wait list long enough, the cost of solo walks for dogs is outrageously higher than those of small businesses in the area. I love MonumenTails! Elizabeth and her walkers are reliable, flexible and so great with our Frenchie, Lulu. She gets a walk everyday and they always leave a note telling who she played with and how she did on the walk (a really nice touch, in my opinion). We've also boarded her several times with Elizabeth and it's GREAT. I know Lulu is completely safe and totally loved while she's in their home. I have a hunch she has a really good time too, as last time we dropped her off she barely looked back before zooming up the steps! I use Elizabeth and her team for several different services, as I have 1 dog and 2 cats. I agree with everything the other reviewers said. She makes everything easy and I have full confidence in her reliability. I have used her for dog walking on and off for the past 4 years, depending on my job/commuting situation. Odie does great with the daily walks. I love getting emails through their service that let's me know what his pee/poop habits were, who he walked with, how the weather was, etc. The time stamp lets me know when he was picked up and when he was returned. I also have two cats, one of whom is on medication. When we go out of town, it is often on very short notice and Elizabeth always works with me, taking careful note of all the details. I have never worried about feedings and pills. She has gone "above and beyond" many times to make me and my pets comfortable. One Christmas day -- a day they announced in advance that they are closed -- she found someone to help us, as I was out of the country and my boyfriend had to work a 14-hour shift at his hotel job. We were panicking about the dog, as our friends and neighbors were out of town or occupied with the holiday. What a relief! One time, there was an incident with another dog attacking him, unprovoked. She called me at the office immediately with the update from the dog walker to let me know what happened, that he was ok, and assured me he would not be walked with that particular dog again. Odie was fine, and there was no evidence that I could see of the minor scrape he got earlier, but she wanted me to have all the information. My work requires me to be away for long periods, and when my boyfriend came with me on a recent trip, Elizabeth found someone to house sit/cat sit (the dog was at a cousin's house, in case you were worried:-) long-term when my cousin could not do it. As we were already gone, she coordinated all the details: gave her the key, showed her the routine, checked in on her daily, and emailed me with updates. We miss Monumentails already. Why did we have to move? We used Monumentails for almost three years. The walkers were always on-time and professional, plus their notes were always both informative and amusing. The two things we liked best about Monumentails was their flexibility and their level of service. I made a Yelp account solely to write this review, and if I could give Monumentails more than 5 stars I would. This company is hands down the best. We have used Monumentails for 2 years, since our dog Turtle was 10 weeks old. When he was a puppy, our dog walker Sarah took him outside twice a day for 20 minutes each time. As a new dog owner, it was so nice to get email updates about how Turtle was doing throughout the day. Sarah was absolutely amazing and Turtle loved her! Now that Turtle is older, we send him to park play, which is over an hour (sometimes more than two hours!) of play time in the park with other dogs. He is sometimes STILL exhausted from the park when we get home from work after 6 p.m. Sometimes I work from home, and seeing how excited Turtle gets when his dog walker shows up is both hilarious and amazing. I truly think Turtle loves his walkers more than he loves us. My husband and I also love getting email updates (and photos!!) from Turtle's walkers every day. As silly as it sounds, It's so fun to get a little glimpse into our dog's day. The owner, Elizabeth, is also amazing. She is super responsive and always professional. As a new client, she specifically came to our apartment to meet us and Turtle, which was so reassuring. She's been accommodating and helpful from the very beginning. We recently decided to move out of Charlestown and we agonized over the decision because it means leaving Monumentails. We love this company and we love knowing that our dog is so well-taken care of. As someone who works in the animal welfare world, I'm well aware of the difficulty many people have finding reliable dog-walkers. As a cat-owner, though, I must say it is even harder to find someone who is not only reliable and trustworthy, but who understands why you feel the need to leave a 12-step list of your pet's "quirks." Elizabeth is a godsend. She is not just a "dog lover" but an "animal caregiver" in the very best sense of the term. She lovingly cares for my orange furry terror, even with tolerates my last minute requests. I get text messages to let me know that he has been visited. I get status updates. And when I get home, I know that my place is safe & secure and, most importantly, my purring ball of energy has been appropriately pet, fed, watered, and his litterbox is clean as a whistle. While I know she does a great job with all the dogs, I'm giving her 5 stars (and would do even more if I could) for the extraordinary level of care & attention my kitty receives. I love Monumentails! Elizabeth has cared for my dog and my two cats many times. I am obsessed with my "fur-babies" and she is the first person I have ever used. My dog has some major issues with new people (shows teeth, growls, barks) and she never gave up on him even when it took 45 minutes and some cheese to get him on a leash. I love monumentails! I recently got a puppy golden retriever, Ella - my first ever dog. As a first time dog owner, I was really nervous about choosing a walker. A colleague of mine raved about Monumentails, so I gave them a call and started using them soon after. One of the things that really impressed me was this technology they use called Pet Check. They gave me a QR code to put by the crate for the walker to scan when they come in and when they leave.
