This is a first-rate mover. We had a large household with piano in May 2020. In July 2021 another residential move. Our estimate from Salmon's Transfer ("best company in town?") was sky high in comparison to Jacob Montgomery's. Jacob is the last word in professional. He does not charge for his travel time, and in fact, is very generous. He is very careful, highly experienced and skilled. 100% dependable. read more

A friend had reccomended them to me and now it's the only company I go with. Just a heads up, they are busy around the end and beginning of the month so make your appointment in advance if you want someone good. I've had these movers move me 3 times and each time was fast and efficient. I've had other companies over charge and damage my things in the past. You will not expect that from these guys. I've even recommend them to my move my work company to a new location and the business owners where quite happy with the move. I would definitely recommend them again!!! read more

I cannot rave enough about Montgomery Moving. They showed up right on time, were polite, super efficient and worked tirelessly to move me to a new apartment. They were highly organized, efficient and disassembled and reassembled several pieces of furniture. Items were wrapped in padded moving blankets to protect them and there were no scuffs or scrapes to any of my items or to the walls. Also, my move day was in a horrendous windy downpour so extra points for that! The cost of my move was totally reasonable too. I would highly recommend Montgomery Moving for any moving job. I had a horrible experience with this company. I contracted them to move my apartment from one city to another. A pretty simple task for any moving company. They told me that they would arrive at 2pm on Thursday, and contact me a few days beforehand to confirm the appointment. I never received a phone call from them. I called them several times but nobody answered, I left several messages, and no returned calls. I finally got a hold of someone after calling from a different phone number on Thursday morning. I believe they were avoiding call. I received the rudest, snarkiest, reassurance that they would arrive at 2pm that day. 2pm rolls around and no truck. I call them and received no answer or call back several times. I finally got through to someone by 3pm, no truck had arrived, the person behind the phone told me they would call their movers who are in the truck and call me straight back. I never received a phone call. I called many times more, only to have someone pick up, sigh, and then hang up. I really do not suggest using this company. I've had to call every other moving company in the area and luckily someone is able to move me on Saturday. Through my conversations with the other companies, I learnt that Monty J's is known for being incredibly unreliable. read more

We had to move a baby grand piano from the airport to our place. Jacob and his team accommodated us on a very short notice on an end-of-day Friday schedule, practically helping us avoid the warehouse storage charges which would start the next day. Were very professional and efficient in their service, and did not charge additional fee for the extra boxes that had arrive with our Piano. read more

We ended up using Jacob and his crew four times while moving from our condo to our new house. Jacob is always courteous, professional and efficient. They did a great job and worked very hard. Jacob took great care with our expensive furniture and is always willing to go the extra mile to make things easier for us. They run a solid business and we trust them completely. We're very happy with the service we've received and won't hesitate to use them again and recommend them to friends and family. read more

I have been moving all my life. As a teenager I learned the business working with my father. As I got older I had no doubt that owning a moving company was what I wanted to do. Many clients call back for a 2nd, 3rd or 4th move with us. I honestly love what I do and it shows. The physical labor is what I like the most and after a long day of moving I will normally hit the gym for a while before going home for the night. Favorite kind of move: apartments- the higher, the better. Especially in the downtown core. I like working with elevators and love the challenge of working with higher end items that need the extra care of a professional mover. Not to mention the more moves I do, the more people I meet, which is always a bonus. Favorite thing about moving: The fact that every day is different. Hiroki-san was very courteous and quick in his email replies to book an appointment. He's in high demand so he requires almost a month's advanced notice to get an ideal time. When he arrived and did an initial test, the piano was flat to the point that an A was registering as a G. He said he would try to tune it but with the risk that a string might snap as he did multiple passes at it. I have no idea how piano tuning works and agreed to a more complex option on his price list. He cleaned and vacuumed my piano and was super patient with all my questions. My piano was returned to proper tuning after he worked for 3 hours straight tuning by ear then playing a little bit. Hiroki-san also gave me some maintenance tips and a card to lookup my client file for future annual tunings (which I will be adhering to here on out). I highly recommend him to anyone who's looking to tune their acoustic piano. Thank you so much for restoring my piano!

I was lucky to find Semei Lee on Google and am extremely satisfied with his reasonable rate, attitude, and professionalism. He charged me $100 for my upright in Vancouver. He said my piano sounded low but didn't lecture me about being a bad piano owner. Compared to other tuners, he doesn't loudly pound the piano while tuning. Semei tunes by ear, listening for harmonic beats. He used to work for Tom Lee tuning pianos, and he also tunes pianos for competitions and recordings. I can't wait for him to come next year after my piano stabilizes when he will adjust my piano for tone. I am very happy with his work; had I found him on Yelp earlier, I would have called him sooner.

When I inquired about it they said they sent it back, never to be seen again. Rickenbacker replacement pickups can be ordered. Another time I bought a new Firebird and it had fret sprout and they said they would fix that. It seemed to take forever and when I finally got it there was a ding in the back that wasn't there before. I brought in a keyboard for repair and they lost the case for the soundboard that was installed in the keyboard. When you bring something in for repair, bring it in bare bones, no strap, strings accessories in the case or they might lose them.

My experience is with what I guess they call "Pro Audio & Recording" gear, maybe different departments are different or maybe I've just been lucky so far.

I checked online for a company to help move my mom where she had lived for 35 years. Read about Montgomery Moving and made the call. Jacob was out of town and fielded my inquiry almost same day. (Many other movers didn't get back to me when I left messages and sent inquiries.) As it went I had to reschedule our move day and Jacob again got in touch quickly and we arranged the move. He showed up with his team on moving day right on time. The fellows were so polite and re-assuring to my mom...and efficient! They moved my mom's 1 bedroom apartment from Poco to Burnaby in under 3 hours, nothing broken or stained along the way. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Really fair price as well. Had a piano moved from a condo to a house. They were honest and straight forward right from the start with pricing. Got a bunch of quotes from other places, and most places would quote huge range of pricing which was a total turn off. In terms of service, these guys were professional / courteous the entire time. Great experience with Montgomery Moving. Wasn't a big move, just wanted my 2 bedroom apartment moved without any damages as I have moved 3 times previously 2 of those times the movers damaged a few items. So I gave these guys a shot and it went as smooth as it could go. No damages everything arrived in the same condition it left my old place and thats all i could ask for. MONTGOMERY movers did a very difficult technical piano move for a 200 year old, 800 lb upright. The piano is in great shape and where it belongs. They overcame all the obstacles with planning, sheer brawn and cooperation. Very pleasant, well-mannered, focused and persistent. luvd these guys, they moved our entire family home my 2 pianos and both ride on mowers. they even moved 3 fish tanks with our fish ! I was nervous at first but in the first 10 min they guys were moving so fast that before i could get coffee they were nearly finished . It was amazing. read more
