Go ANYWHERE else for a wedding cake! Ordered cream cheese frosting, got gritty buttercream. Top tier was so lopsided, guests referred to it as the leaning tower of Pisa. I provided the banding, which was placed uneven. Paid over $200 for a cake that would have been prettier and tastier letting my 9 year old make it. Called over 6 times asking to speak with the manager. Was told 3 times he would call me back. Finally spoke with the "baker" of my cake, who was actually just an order taker, who offered me $25 in return. Please please please do not depend on Montgomery Bakehouse for any special occasion. I ordered a 2 tier cake for my moms 54th birthday and we were having a party for her. The cake was suppose to be ombré and I went into the store and talked about everything with girl for an hour. She took notes and highlighted everything on the order sheet and even asked the baker if they could do the type of cake I was asking for. He said they could do it and I even emailed pictures of the ombré color and how I wanted it. When I picked the cake up it was 3 different colors not ombré at all. I paid over $100.00 for this cake and for the time spent I should have received what I paid for. When I told them and emailed them the cake I received all they could do if give me half my money back. I am happy that I got some money back but the purpose is that they should have done what I asked if they didn't feel confident about doing it they should have let me know. We have a lot of people coming for her birthday party and everyone was disappointed with how the cake turned out. Five stars is simply not enough. I ordered both the wedding cake and groom's cake for my son's wedding from Montgomery Bakehouse. They got the first star just for their customer service. The people at Montgomery Bakehouse are about as nice and helpful you are ever going to meet. They got the second star for their willingness to do custom cakes. Groom wanted a chocolate oreo cake, which wasn't something that is "on the menu." They helped come up with a creation that was wonderful. They get the third star because even though they are closed on Sundays, they were still willing to deliver the cakes to us for a Sunday afternoon wedding. They got the fourth star when I saw the two cakes actually sitting there on the cake table. Wow! They were gorgeous. The wedding cake looked better than the picture we took in for them to use as the model. They got the fifth star when I took a bite of that triple-chocolate oreo-fudge covered groom's cake. Oh. my. gosh. Moist, chocolately, and delicious. They would have gotten a sixth star here, if I could have gone that high, when I took a bite of the wedding cake. It was an Italian Cream cake with cream cheese icing. And it was one of the best I have ever had. And I don't believe I have EVER had a wedding cake that was that moist yet held up so well. Finally, they would have gotten a seventh star for their prices. Wedding cakes aren't cheap, but I have to say I have seen more expensive cakes than what we paid. We actually priced Kroger's first, and they would have been more expensive than at Montgomery Bakehouse - AND we wouldn't have gotten delivery. Now, if you aren't in the market for a wedding cake, you can still drop by and say howdy to the folks here. They have so many goodies from cookies to pies to cinnamon rolls to sticky buns to petit-fours and on and on and on. read more

This is truly a local treasure. The moment I walk in I can smell cinnamon, vanilla and chocolate. If you only can try one thing from the bakery case I recommend the Texas Tornado cookie! I was very disappointed. This was the first time my daughter has went anywhere besides a donut shop or made from home to get anything sweet. The building was cute the inside was very very spacious and clean and the staff was really nice. The only thing I had a problem with was the product in general. The brownie, I do better from the box and the $3.00 or $4.00 chocolate pie (not cake) had water in the bottom. I mean you could literally turn it over and pour liquid out like it has been previously frozen and thawed out. Which is (of course) what my daughter had chosen. The cheesecake was beginner cooking class 101. I think the total was almost $15.00 dollars for two small cartons of milk and one small Nestle strawberry milk. Disclaimer- I'm leaving this rating based on their process not their actual product. I wanted to order my wedding cake from them. I called in to place my order. I was told the only way to place an order was to come into the store. I traveled an hour to their bakery expecting to taste flavors or something. I figured there had to be a reason they were making me come in to order my cake. I arrived for my appointment and they proceeded to take my order as I was standing at the counter like I was ordering cookies for an ordinary event not a wedding cake. When I was asked what flavor I wanted I had to ask what flavors they had. They didn't have samples to taste. I still cannot figure out why I had to drive in. I ordered a Carrot Cake for an 85 year olds birthday. The cake was very nice looking. But I was so disappointed with the cake as was everyone else at the party. The cake was very fresh and tasted good but was not a carrot cake. It was a spice cake! There were no visible signs on even 1 carrot grated in or any nuts of any kind. Tasted just like a spice cake out of a box that I could have easily have made myself. Knowing that I will not order from this bakery again. Knowing I can make a cake from a box as well as they can. I just went here a few days ago because my family said they were craving something sweet. I'm new to the area so I googled a few bakeries and this came up! And we loved it! The woman helping us was really sweet, telling us about the different stuff they had and the ingredients used to make them. I grabbed a couple of petite fours, a cannoli, and some butter cookies. I ordered a super hero theme sheet cake for my son's birthday party on 3/21/15, the cake was so good and fresh, and very very awesome looking! it was spiderman superman and batman and I couldn't have picked a better place to get his cake from, we got so many good compliments of how good it taste and looked! very very good will be going there any time we need any cakes done. Purchased a german chocolate cake today and it was not the quality I was expecting. Looks like white icing used as a filler around the edges before putting the thin layer if german chocolate icing on. I also thought a real cake did not have dark chocolate cake inside. Did not notice any pecans in the icing but did see pecans on top. I have purchased pies in the past and they were excellent but this german chocolate cake missed it's mark. I am shocked by reading bad reviews as I have ALWAYS gotten great items from this place. From coffee to treats, I love them all. Their butter cookies are wonderful. I love their powder sugar covered shortbread cookies. I have always called them Mexican wedding cakes and they are delicious! I have never had a bad brownie here. It is definitely NOT a box mix brownie. I am dumbfounded that someone says that. Their brownies are moist, delicious and very large. Please give this place a try. My husband stopped in Montgomery Bakehouse this morning for our first experience and what an experience it was. He brought home extra-large jalapeño & cheese kolaches that were absolutely awesome, slices of pumpkin roll that were wonderful and also apple strudel that was delicious. This will be our favorite Saturday morning breakfast place. I found the bakery on my Facebook page and it caught my eye immediately because we share the same last name which is not a real common name and they are from Pennsylvania as is my husband but not related in any way that we know of. Hubby said everyone was friendly and gave him great service. I must say you can't beat the pastries along with the service. I recently ordered a round rosie cake for my daughters 4th birthday. I told them my ideas for the cake and delivered all the decorations (because they don't supply the decorations!!) to the bakery a week in advance. When I came to pick up the cake only 2 decorations were on the cake and the rest were still packaged in the bag. I asked why all the decorations were not used she said well we can throw them on real quick if you would like. NO!! I don't want yall to just throw the decorations on there when they should have been originally put on it to begin with. The following Monday I called Tim, the owner, to inform him I was not satisfied with my cake and all he could tell me is that I should have done it myself. No apology or remorse for a poor product he sold. He didn't care if I ever came back. The cake was not moist, very dry and crumbled and soon as you cut into it.
