Renea F.

I have ordered multiple cakes from this place. The taste has always been great. However the last time I came in the customer service was absolutely HORRIBLE! When I ordered the cake, I specifically asked the lady while placing the order, if they could make sure the cake was covered on top for transport purposes & if they could have it sitting out and ready for me when I called to say I was on my way. I was told YES. The lady was very sweet that took the order. The day of the meeting, I was running behind on time. So I called to ask them to have the cake out and ready. (As I had already requested when placing the order) I then was told NO they would not do it. I explained I was running behind and I had previously requested for the cake to be out and ready. The lady said no but when you come in we will get you taken care of quickly. I was in a rush to get to this meeting with this cake and it was feeding over 200 people. I walked in and explained all this to the lady and that I needed to get the cake out as quickly as possible to the vehicle, since they refused to have it out and ready as they promised. She walked to the back and I waited a few minutes and she had still not returned. So I asked the lady behind the counter if she could please at least ring me up for the cake and I could pay, since they were taking a while in the back. The girl did not have any customers in front of her at all. She said NO, I cant leave the register and I need the receipt. I explained to her PLEASE they were suppose to have this done already and Im in a hurry. I cant be late for this company meeting of 200 people. She was rude and acted as if she didn't care. That really upset and me and added insult to injury. I literally had the company calling me as Im standing in the bakery asking me where the cake was! I had to explain they did not have the cake ready as they promised and I would be there as soon as I could. After a while the cake finally comes out , I pay for it and leave! They not only did not have it ready when I arrived as they said they would but the cake was not covered either. When I get to the location of the meeting, I take the cake out and it looks horrible! It was the first cake I have ever purchased at this location that the icing was messed up in several locations! I quickly took a few photos and thought I would handle this with the manager later on when I had time. I tried calling several days in a row and kept being told to call at different times when requesting to speak with a manager. They kept asking me what my complaint was. I tried to explain to them I just wanted to discuss this with a manager and not an employee. That is when the girl Becky got very rude with me. She kept telling me there is NO MANAGERS here! I told her I understand that but could you please have one to call me back? She said NO thats what Im telling you we do not have ANY MANAGERS AT ALL! I then said if there is no manager can you please ask the owner to call me back. She said NO the owner only speaks Spanish. I then asked her for the owners name, so I could have a friend to translate for me to speak to the owner. She said shes not allowed to give out the owners name! Im pretty sure Becky is the one that had the horrible attitude the first day I went in and was behind the counter refusing to help me. Most of the times I come there everyone is very nice. However Becky was not at all. I asked over and over to talk to a manager and she just kept refusing saying there were NO MANAGERS. I explained to her in the past that I had spoken to a manager a few years back and they were very nice and I just cant believe they dont have any managers at that bakery. Then she finally tells me she has one and that she (BECKY) would be the one to tell the manager the problem. Yet, before she kept trying to lie and tell me there was no managers at all. I asked Becky for her managers name.....She then says I CANT GIVE YOU HER NAME! I said this is ridiculous! I then asked her what her name was and she said I CANT GIVE YOU THAT! I said you already did and you forgot, Becky! I think Becky has a control issue and she has no concept of customer service what so ever! I FINALLY told Becky what happened because she absolutely wouldn't take NO for an answer, then she just said OKAY IS THAT IT? OKAY THANK YOU and I WILL LET THEM KNOW. There was NO sorry, no kindness, no customer service and there was definitely no resolution ! I then told Becky, this was the exact reason I did not want to discuss it with her because I knew she did not care about anything I had to say! This was by far the worst experience I've had and I've been buying cakes from them off and on for years now. I will not be using them anymore since there is no REAL managers to speak with and they are refusing customers the ability to speak with someone in charge! I have referred MANY people to this bakery over the past several years but now I will be telling others to stay away from this place.

Cookie selection

So many goodies at Arandas Bakery! When you first walk in grab a metal tray and some tongs and get to pickin'! The selection here is really impressive, everything I've tried has been delicious. I got my usual couple cookies, some buns, an empanada, but this time I tried a churro and jalapeño sausage kolache. The churro was dusted perfectly in cinnamon sugar, and filled (surprise!) with caramel, yum! The kolache was the best I've had in a long time, good quality meat with the flakiest of bun. I've never seen flies in here and place is always clean. I was also helped by a friendly woman who was working the counter. I don't know why I waited so long in between visits, I'll be back again soon!

Delicious traditional Mexican sweet bread along with ice cream, specialty cakes, tamales and all the Mexican sodas your heart desires. I loved it and it's made fresh daily.

Arandas Bakery - YUM!!!

I stumbled across this adorable bakery right off Frazier in a quite deserted strip center. So being the adventurous Yelper that I am I decided to check it out. Wow I found the most delightful authentic Mexican Bakery. It was good size with most of all the traditional Mexican baked goods. It also had 2 kinds of sausage kolaches for $1.30 each. I saw many cases of sliced desserts which I really wanted to buy one of everything. The flan slice was nicely pie cut with a strawberry on top and the flan sauce nicely cascading down it. They had beautiful cakes and they make beautiful special order wedding cakes. They had 2 huge pots of freshly made in house tamales which you have a choice of pork or chicken. Price was $3.50 for 6 tamales. They were medium in size, extremely tasty, authentic and no fillers. Just yummy meat and masa. Five star + for these babies!!! Four of the six would make for a delightful quickie lunch on the run. If you ate all 6 at once you'd definitely would be stuffed. These are Conroe's little secret gems! Lol, these tamales actually tasted very lean and healthy which is unique for tamales overall. Oh yah I would drive from The Woodlands just to get more of these. Nice clean bakery with very friendly and helpful ladies to assist you. If you need a wedding cake this is definitely a bakery that specializes in them. I have had no experience with their wedding cakes but the front window is full of wedding cakes. If you're in need of a party pinata just look up at the ceiling and have at it. Awesome selection. Ok actually 4.5 star because the Mexican pastries I had were very good but I've had slightly better in Houston. The sausage kolaches were a bit fatty but everything else was 5 star all the way. If you live anywhere within about 20 minutes of this bakery it's really worth checking out They have 4 more bakeries in Houston and supply the pastries to Taqueria Arandas.

How sweet it is

What an awesome bakery! I've lived in the area for many years and drive by here all the time...and only now have I checked it out. It's a large Mexican bakery, very clean inside, and so many pastries to choose from, I was honestly overwhelmed. This is the first panaderia I've been to and didn't know where to start. Walked around the entire bakery looking at every baked good, I didn't know what to pick, where to start, or even how to hold it? Finally I saw somebody grab a metal round tray and tongs...duh, I felt like an idiot. I picked up a pineapple empanada, tres leches cake, taquito de fresas, and some tube-like pastry with a cream in it (sorry this was 2 days ago and forgot the name). This place opens early and closes late at night which is when I went. The people working there were very friendly and helpful, esp since I'm a total noob. That tube like pastry has a very crispy shell on the outside and lightly sweet. Just the right amount of butter and flour without making you feel heavy or nauseous. Dusted with confectionary sugar and trails of thin chocolate. It was filled with a light cream. It looked like a horn you would want to blow the cream at somebody's face like Tom did to Jerry in the Midnight Snack episode. The pineapple empanada was similar with a crispy light pastry shell and sweet pineapple filling. Surprisingly a light and delicious dish. The taquito de fresas was basically a churro filled with a strawberry paste. It was coated with sugar. No bueno. The tres leches, it was sweet, flavorful, and also surprisingly light. Which is an incredible feat given its drenched in condensed milk. Good stuff!

Their pandulce and other treats are great! Not crazy about their roscas though. There's definitely room for improvement there.

And what better place than the shop I used to go to back in the 90's. Now I've never been to the woodlands location before. It's in that waterway district near the mall and so parking was sure to be a B. But this being thanksgiving week it actually wasn't half bad. The shop is smaller than the Richmond location. But that's just more goodness compressed into a TLP. There are no birthday specials alas. But they did have some free samples of tiramisu. It was good but I had to get my favorites. J's birthday cake and the Big O. The birthday cake is thicker like brownie than some of the other chocolate cakes. I can't describe the frosting this go around because my punk kid at all the frosting off it while my attention was focused on the Big O. But the cake part was moist. As for the Big O it was Ooooohhh. No When Harry Met Sally diner scene experience. But it was F'n awesome. Staff was super helpful and nice. Wanted to eat more but my blood sugar wouldn't tolerate it.

There were a small set of tables to sit inside and enjoy your treats if you wanted to. We got a variety of things to share, tres leches (this is okay, a little sweet and pretty standard), tiramisu, pecan pie bar (delicious but crumbly/messy to eat), Oreo truffles and confetti truffles (my nieces and nephew absolutely loved these)! It was pretty pricey, but always happy to support local businesses!

Pumpkin Spice Concha Surprise…read more I drove after work to this bakery in Conroe to see if they have the "Pan de Muerto," Bread of the Dead, for Day of the Dead celebration. Was I surprised not only to see the traditional sweet Mexican pastries and the Pan de Muerto but I was surprised to see the Pumpkin spice Concha going viral from the well know bakery in all soical medias. I cannot emphasize enough, their Pumpkin Spice Concha is absolutely amazing. The bread is soft while the Pumpkin filling is rich and creamy, keeping the bread moist. Let's not forget the sweet baked icing that brings the Concha it's popularity. But in all honesty, this bakery is absolutely great because it really makes the Mexican Sweet Bread just like I remember in Mexico. I tasted the other wonderful pastries bread that I couldn't stop eating. I would highly recommend coming to this bakery, especially if your looking to find the Pumpkin Spice Concha, without having to wait so long at the other bakery.

I have tried diffrent days diffrent hours and no matter what they are always serving old bread. My guess is they refuse to have any loses so they refrigerate fresh bread until old bread is sold, either way you end up with hard bread. The flavor and appearance of the bread is great and they are made and baked well but it's always hard and old. I hope they start putting out fresh baked bread everyday bc they would be a 10/10 if they did.
