The baked good are fairly good, but the review is mostly about the lack of public safety and hygiene during COVID-19.  Short story... there isn't any concern for safety!  None of the workers preparing food were wearing masks and none of the people inside were wearing masks.  Had I not have already ordered my cake days ahead, and been vaccinated, I would have walker right out the door.  Very unprofessional behavior in a time of a global pandemic and I will not be back! read more

Ordered from them using door dash, the lemon sponge was dry, the cream puff pastry tasted frozen and was dry but the cream was outstanding. The boxes smelled overly much of whatever air freshner they use in the store instead of bakery yumminess. read more

This Bakery is just plain huge for me anyway. They have all kinds of things that are baked goods for your selection to go with your coffee. They have real nice comfortable rockers, and quite a selection of Breads and cakes. I think it's best to order ahead if you need something and they'll have it boxed up and ready. When I look at what they're doing here it seems that they might actually have quite a business shipping things out so hey you can probably order up. We found our lemon meringue pie to be nice crust was a little stiff, but the lemony flavor came through. Nice little store to stop and get a loaf of bread and get a pie for those who do not bake. I ordered what I thought would be a traditional Carrot Cake. This could not have been anything other than a mix cake. There was no fresh fruit or nuts in the cake and no cream cheese icing. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed. I could have made a box cake just as good for one tenth the price. I called and spoke to a manager, Julie, who laughed during our conversation. She stated that the baker makes big batches at a time. That may be true, however, I still hold that this could have come out of a box. She stated that they do not put fruit or nuts in their carrot cake. I will never again order anything from this bakery. Very disappointed with a cake we ordered this past Monday for pickup today (Friday). Requested a cake for grandsons birthday celebration on Sunday. Wanted a cake decorated with a cow patty on it. Was assured they could do it as they had done it before. Picked it up got it home and there was nothing like a cow patty on it, all I got was a amateur attempt of thin icing swirled around on top of the cake. The wife hit the ceiling called and complained. We were charged $40 for something a four year old could have done better. Returned the cake for a refund (plus the did give us an additional $5). Now we are in a major bind to find a replacement cake. Will not be doing business here again. PS, the 'owner' didnt seem to concerned or even offer an apology. read more

I ordered 2 King Cakes from Mongtomery Bakehouse and picked them up Friday evening. The cakes were ready right on time, boxed up and ready to go. I didn't have to wait long to ring up, but during the couple of minutes I did wait I got to look at all the tasty little goodies in the cases - petit fours, cookies galore, cakes, breads, muffins, all kinds of stuff! I will definitely stop by Montgomery Bakehouse regularly and recommend them to others. The employees were very pleasant and thanked me for my business. Red Velvet cake balls are addictive in the best of ways( see photo) . Absolutely AMAZINg cake balls !! I am in the area for work 3 months each year and they are TOP QUALITY on everything across the board. They even were able to arrange the shipping of several dozen boxes of cake balls as Christmas gifts for my family where I live in New York . It all arrived fresh and in perfect shape . Great cake. No problem getting me in during a very busy week. The only issue we had was that it was supposed to be butter cream and the frosting wasn't very buttery. But that's ok! It was still delicious! And the fact they made it the week of graduation when most other bakeries were rude just being asked to make a simple birthday cake in a week, really made my day! We came here once for treats on our vacation, and ordered several things (baklava, cookies, sticky bun, whoopee pie, turtle cake) and everything was SO good that we had to come back a couple of days later! The second trip we got more cookies, a mini lemon pie, a homemade ding-dong, another whoopee pie, and a cupcake to go. My husband got coffee both times and said it was fantastic also. Great cookies, excellent idea to attach it to a BBQ place! I was going to the bathroom and down the hall I got the aroma of baked goods! So after my wife and I finished our meal we paid a visit, got myself a homemade-style sugar cookie, she got a peanut butter cookie. One of the best sugar cookies I've had, it was almost like a cake more than a cookie, similar to old Southern style cookie recipes. Definitely worth a stop. read more

Ordered a carrot cake with cream cheese icing for a Birthday. It was wonderful - all guests said it was the best they had eaten. Also ordered jalepeno cheese rolls and they were a hit also. Employees are friendly and have never had to wait. We are fans of Montgomery Bakehouse. read more

Wow. Easily best bakery in Woodlands/Conroe area. Moved from northeast back in 1990 and this is FIRST Texas bakery that reminds me of what every little factory town in the north has. FINALLY something more that just do nuts cupcakes and fake kolaches. Loved the sticky buns coffee cake and Danish pastry. Apple strudel crust thin NOT flaky but filling excellent. Raisin bread very good too. Next time I'll try the cream puffs and lady fingers and a loaf of either rye bread or challah. Maybe even take home a pie. For you boring people yes they have cupcakes and their cookies are their best sellers. (What is wrong with Texans. Cookies??? In a place that offers so much more). They should market themselves to all of the Corp offices in the Woodlands and offer free delivery for larger orders I'd be a lot of people would order a mixed tray for morning meetings!!!! Once people try the goods they'll gladly drive the 5-10 miles up to Conroe on off days to satisfy their sweet tooth craving. read more

I think the price was reasonable for the sheer massive weight and size of the cake! Beware! Lost a customer in me and my family. I ordered two pies for thanksgiving and paid for them online. The store says online they close at 7PM but they called me at 4:45PM to tell them they were closing in 15 mins. I ended up going to Goode company and buying pies from them. We called Montgomery Bakehouse back several times but no one picked up, then I called them on Friday I called to see if maybe I could get a credit and get pies closer to Christmas Day and they said nope that this was my fault. I think this place is poorly owned/managed and lacks customer service. They have lost me and my family as customers! Nowhere online or on the phone recording does it notify customers of the time they closed for the holiday. Instead of giving me two fresh pies, they gave me the pies that sat in their fridge for two days. We verified that the owner made this decision, not the "team lead". This business does not care about their customers! Goode company pies are better anyway! read more

Ugliest cake I've ever had from a bakery! It was clear no effort was put into this cake. A GROCERY STORE BAKERY HAD TO FIX IT so it would be even remotely worth putting out at the party for my daughters important day! Even the grocery store bakery manager shook her head when she saw it. This place is absolutely fantastic! they have some of the best Italian butter cookies that remind me of being with my family in New York. This place is great! We have visited a couple times now. Never been disappointed. Everything we've ordered has been extremely fresh, which is very important to me. If I wanted day old, bland bakery items then I would go to a grocery store. The cinnamon bread is our favorite! The variety is unlike any I've seen in bakery's around here. I was busy looking over all the sweets in the cases and the woman 'helping' me seem annoyed with her job and not the least bit happy that I didn't know immediately what I wanted. I explained it was my first time. She just stood there stone faced. She maintained with an attitude the entire time I was there up to the checkout process. We went to the Bakehouse for some king cake recently and were totally disappointed. At 4pm they only had 2 flavors/cakes left, we got cinnamon. It was dry and something tasted off about the frosting. I tried to leave a comment on Facebook too but they just keep deleting it, sad. Do yourself a favor and just skip the overpriced king cakes from here and get them from the grocery stores around town, the quality will be as good or better. read more

We have enjoyed Montgomery Bakehouse for a while. We always try to support local restaurants and businesses and we have purchased their baked goods twice during the Coronavirus outbreak. Both times I observed that workers were not wearing masks or gloves to handle the bake goods. The employees did not wash/sanitize their hands between me and their previous customer. At my last visit the employee directly stuck her thumb on the top of the pie with only a piece of paper protecting the bottom of the pie tin from her remaining fingers. I always give any place the respect of a call before I post anything, positive or negative, about their establishment. I called and spoke with the manager, Maddie, and she offered to replace the pie BUT indicated they would NOT be changing their policy to protect their customers health with use of food service gloves (or masks). I would caution patrons of this policy before you visit the bakery. read more

The cookies are terrible! I just bought a bunch of christmas cookies from Montgomery Bakehouse. They are flavorless and stale. The decorating looks like a child did it. The icing on the decorated cookies are so dry that the decorative icing just falls off. The butter cookies with sprinkles and the decorated design cookies are both unacceptable. I purchased them for a party tomorrow. But, I'm not even going to keep them for the family ...just throwing them out. Now I'm scrambling for a replacement. It's possible their other items are good....but I won't risk it. read more
