This is probably my 3rd time coming here and really it's just for the views. You can taste wine, 4 for $10, $15 if you want a souvenir glass. There was only 1 that I enjoyed and bought a glass. The staff is ok. We started with one staff person that helped half of our party but she left the other half is us without our 1st pour. The other lady stepped up and she was great. I didn't care for a lot of their wine but the wine slushies are really good though. Sweet but good. The food is OK. Nothing spectacular. We go for the views and I like to find a good dry wine to sip while we enjoy the company of our group. Oh and they usually have a live band playing. I recommend coming spring and fall for the best scenery. Be careful of the bugs though. They also love wine and food. It's not so bad when you come during the fall.

If you like a million-dollar view with a fast food vibe, this is the place for you--what a combination, right? We were lured in by the promise of stunning scenery, only to be served a "Baguette" with "dipping sauce" (aka three bucks for a plastic tub of ketchup's distant cousin). It arrived wrapped in a paper sack--like, the kind you get at Walmart when you're buying your week's worth of frozen pizzas, not the kind you'd expect to cradle a semi-respectable meal. No charcuterie board, no plate, not even a napkin, because apparently, they're saving that luxury for the rich folks. But hey, at least they didn't skimp on the $25 bottle of wine--delivered straight from the cellar unrefrigerated in a solo cup(yeah thats right, no wine glasses.) (just how we all like our Chardonnay, right?). They did, however, charge us a couple extra bucks for a KFC-sized bucket of ice to chill it. Classy. Honestly, this place is the culinary equivalent of putting lipstick on a pig: you're paying for the view, not the food. And let's not even talk about the service. Guess they figured if you're gazing out over the water, you're too distracted to notice you're eating like you're at a drive-thru. Guess they figured if you're gazing out over the water, you're too distracted to notice you're eating like you're at a drive-thru. This image perfectly encapsulates the whole "luxury meets fast food" fiasco, doesn't it? A bottle of wine that could've used a good chilling (for which you had to pay extra for the bucket of ice--nothing says fine dining like a KFC-sized bucket, am I right?), a baguette wrapped in a paper bag (I'm sorry, is this a rustic artisanal experience or a grocery store trip?), and a side of dipping sauce in a plastic tub. Truly, who needs plates and utensils when you've got scenic views to distract from the fact you're eating out of a bag? Not to mention, the wine itself--unrefrigerated. But hey, as long as you're sitting out there overlooking the countryside, it doesn't matter that you're dining like it's a tailgate party. At least there's the water bottle for some hydration, though you're really going to need it to wash down that... experience. The view is stunning, but the service? Not so much. A million-dollar view with a "fast food meets fine dining" reality check.

Lovely view from the patio! My friend and I tried the rosé a semi-sweet white wine - each glass is $8. Wine was good and the space is very welcoming.

We had a really nice visit a couple months ago, having a relaxing afternoon sipping wine and snacking on some food. It had been a while since I've been to Montelle. Like many others, I missed the trees that provided shade. We were lucky enough to get a table with an umbrella (not all of them had one. Not great for Missouri summers), but we had to keep shifting to avoid the sun. All the food and wine we sampled were really good, plenty of variety to choose from. We had a cheese pizza, the Brie, and spinach dip. The entertainment was a two-man band who played so many great songs. My final thought is that there could be a sign or two as you drive up the road to the main building, just letting people know they are heading in the right direction.

We've been here a few times and enjoyed our experience each time. It's situated high up in the hills and has an absolutely exquisite view of the Missouri River valley. There are plenty of outside tables that take advantage of the views. Sometimes tables can be hard to find on busy weekend afternoons. There's usually some sort of live music that's suited to nearly every taste. I appreciate that they don't play it so loud you can't hear yourself think. The prices are definitely reasonable, compared to other places. We got a bottle of the Vignoles, a package of crackers, and cheese spread for about $24, which included the wine glasses (no deposit required). I think I may have been charged the wrong price on the wine though (listed at $24, but I think she gave me the $16 price marked on other wines). Either way, still a decent price. They do have a small variety of charcuterie items in the fridge for purchase. They have a menu and full kitchen as well (I've never had the kitchen food). It's located kind of in the middle of nowhere, way down highway 94, but it's worth a Sunday drive.

Still a favorite go-to, 7-8 years later! Weekends can be packed, but there's plenty of space & seating. Weekdays are nice & quite, sometimes that's my favorite spontaneous time to go; not many wineries are open weekdays like Montelle is! Just recently discovered I can come here during the week, they're open til 6. It's a nice surprise when you have nothing else to do & you're off on a Monday. My boyfriend who doesn't drink says he is into wineries now. The experience is what has made it great here, and of course the view!

Fantastic late Spring weather + Saturday = mandatory trip to the wineries! Montelle is one of our best regional wineries. They have some of the better, locally grown and blended wines of our region from some excellent Norton, Chambourcin and Vignoles. Sure, these aren't the wines from the grapes of California, Tuscany or France, but these are as good as you can get for what you can grow in Missouri soil. Service at the tasting counter is very good. Our tasting was handled by an experienced, fun and engaging professional. She guided us through our tasting and made the experience worthwhile. The service at the food counter was okay - nothing great and nothing bad... quick, efficient and that's all we needed. Our food was pretty stellar. We enjoyed the following: - margherita pizza: STL style crust, tasty sauce and the balsamic glaze made this a good option - Italian trio: this was very good and one that we went back and ordered a second - Famous jumbo charcuterie pretzel - all the items on this place were tasty and a great sharing option. Would have liked a variety of cheeses. I think it was just a cheddar on ours. The views at their winery are arguably the best in Augusta. Truly breathtaking. The live music made it really enjoyable and gave it a great vibe. Sadly, they had to remove some of the large trees a few years ago, so that is a sad loss. Arriving early allowed us to put a lock in a shaded table. Overall rating 3.9

Just chillin. My FAVORITE Fall wine glass ALWAYS makes an appearance.

STILL one of my favorite wineries because I LOVE their wine. Their Himmelswein is ALWAYS my go to. I order food and find my spot to post up. I come here at least once a year. Staff are always friendly. Sometimes I make it more often. Most times I come alone on my birthday and use it as an opportunity to reflect over the past year. Looking out at the views and just thinking and being grateful. Another trip to Montelle and year in the books.

When we stay in Washington, Missouri, our winery hopping itinerary goes: (1) Montelle Winery, (2) Augusta Winery Tasting Room, (3) Noboleis Vineyards, (4) Balducci Vineyards and (5) Blumenhof Winery. Starting off our day at Montelle. Montelle is possibly my favorite winery in the Augusta Missouri area for their ambiance. Their standing tasting bar meets an extra large patio area that looks over stunning views. We typically start at their tasting bar and then purchase a glass of wine to take onto the patio to enjoy their live music. In my opinion, they usually have the best live music of the day. They also have a great food menu with shareable snacks. We often see a private party - such as a Bridal Shower - while we are there, as well as couples dancing to the live music. Highly recommend this winery stop if you're in the area!

Decks on the hills provide a wonderful view as well as a nice breeze.

Montelle Winery is a beautiful hilltop winery from the large black entrance gate to the breathtaking views of the Missouri River Valley. Since we had just left Defiance Ridge Winery, we just enjoyed the views of the rolling hills and spectacular decks overlooking the valley below. The attached decks are perfect for cocktail hour. They offer a large number of musical and other types of events on the Terrance. I've attached the schedule under photos for September through November 2023. The Tasting Room is open all year long, and the Parliament Room is climate controlled, has its own restrooms, an attached deck with a gorgeous view, and a fireplace that creates a cozy atmosphere. Located off the main tasting room, it's easy to order a bottle of wine, grab a bite to eat at Klondike Cafe, and still be able to have a great day regardless of the time of year or the weather conditions. The Parliament Room is perfect year round for events and can host up to 100 people. So many types of events would be a success at the winery. I'm happy we had the opportunity to check out Montelle Winery. I look forward to returning soon.

This winery is on top of a hill and has a gorgeous view of the surrounding trees and land. When you enter the building, there is a tasting bar, then behind it is the check out counter. The whole process of paying and ordering was a little confusing but we eventually figured it out. At the checkout counter you can place your food order, pay for wine samples, and buy bottles of wine (and other drinks they have in upright coolers behind the checkout area). They have chilled bottles of wine if you are wanting to drink them there, and they also have non chilled ones if you are getting them to go. For the food, they give you a buzzer, and then you go to the pick up window the pick it up when it is ready. Ours took about 30 minutes. There are glasses at the check out to use to drink your wine from. I had to ask about them, the cashier did not offer them to me. Also at the check out counter you can pay for samples, then you take your receipt to the sample bar and show them and they will give your samples. It's 10 dollars for 4 samples. There are lots of seats out on their decks. They have limited covered seating. The views are gorgeous. Once you get your food and wine you go find a seat. Seats are just first come first serve. Just look for an open one or look for people that are about to leave. We brought our wine out to the table and wondered why we didn't get one of those ice bucket to keep the wine chilled. Later we saw that another table got them from somewhere inside and found out they were 2.50 a piece. As for food, I got the house salad and we got 2 of the baked brie for the table. We also got the jumbo pretzel that had cheese cubes, grapes and salami in the inner open sections of the pretzel. Everyone at the table also ordered sandwiches and salads for themselves. It was definitely enough food for a group of 7 (too much! Lol) I loved the baked Brie and the jumbo pretzel dipped in the cheese was soooo good! There were a lot of bees and my friends boyfriend got stung! They would not leave us alone! If you have food, you will have bees visiting your table.

Beautiful views and lovely patio area! Just too commercialized and I didn't care for most of the wines. There was one dry white wine we did enjoy though!

Montelle is such a fun and scenic winery to visit! Their very large deck area boasts a beautiful view of rolling hills and trees. Because the decks are built around trees, you get to enjoy some natural shades. However, if you do end up sitting where there are no trees to provide you with the shade, they do have some oversized umbrellas. Their tasting is $5 and you get to choose 5 different wines from their selection. The bottle prices are on par with mid-priced wines from the store. They have some food you can order ranging from salads to small appetizer types to sandwiches/wraps and pizzas. I have had their trip pizza during both visits. It's really tasty so I did not think to venture to other menu items the next time we went. Because if "it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Am I right? Their food items might be slightly on the higher end price-wise but if you're already there and you're hungry, you might as well. I am generally a dry wine person and only reds but during the tasting, I found some whites they have that were actually good. I ended up buying a case and splitting it with my friend during our first visit. I'm surprised to have found some whites that aren't sickeningly sweet like how I find Missouri wines to be. This place is definitely worth a visit and they comply with COVID regulations, clean and sanitize spaces well, and even give you your glass to keep if you do the tasting! What more could you ask for?! So go, pay them a visit and drink a glass for me!
