This restaurant is located in what is possibly the most interesting neighborhood in Tijuana.
I headed south of the border to hang out and get away from the stress in LA. After checking out Zona Rio and Ave. Revolucion, I took a walk along Calle Coahuila.
For those who do not know, this street runs along the red light district of Tijuana. Yes, this stuff is 100% legal here, and I think more US dollars run through this place than the outlets just opposite the border on the US side.
Aside from the many bars along this street, there are a number of eateries as well. I stopped into this one, as it looked fairly cozy and was the least busiest at the time. I sat down on one of their booths, and checked out their menu.
I ordered a grilled chicken plate ("pollo a la plancha"), which came with rice, fried beans, a salad, tortillas, and chips with two types of delicious salsa. To drink, I had bottled water and coffee.
What I love about the coffee here is that they give you a cup of hot water, and it's up to you on how strong you want your coffee. As a big-time caffeine addict, I made my coffee very strong.
The meal was delicious, and it hit the spot well. The staff was friendly, and did a good job taking care of me. I would repeat if I ever found myself in this area again.
If you come here, bring an open mind. There are girls from the adjacent bars that come to eat here during a break. You'll see plenty of them, although this isn't the place to approach them. I'd bring friends, but not kids here. read more
