The food was absolutely fantastic I forgot the pic of samosas but they were good, we both got chicken Tika Marsala and I got onion naan and my buddy got garlic naan. Everything was delicious my medium+ spice was perfect heat ratio for me. The restaurant has great ambiance for a small but cozy Indian cuisine restaurant. The service was good but we got there right at lunch so we beat the crowd and had no issue sitting, ordering, and getting fed. I will definitely comeback, I'd like to time it for the buffet so I could try even more.

Our waiter was warm and polite. I liked the lighting and the subtle music choice. We ordered the garlic. We ordered samosa's, chicken tikka, and the chicken biryani. 5 stars on the samosa's and the garlic naan was excellent with just the perfect crisp. Loved the tikka sauce and the kick of the biryani. There wasn't enough chicken meat in either dish, but other than that it was hot, the spice was perfect and over all we really enjoyed it. I'd eat there again. The mango lassie is a must

Such a delicious lunch! The masala tea was flavorful and comforting. There was not a noon buffet the Friday we went; we saw the set-up for it so perhaps that is a weekend or dinner option. I ordered the lunch special, which includes naan, - veggie entree, tikka masala and rice pudding and it was delicious! The menu includes lamb and goat as well as vegetarian entrees; biryani, samosas, and roti and several kinds of naan. The variety of options is impressive. This restaurant is tucked into the corner of a corner strip mall; don't give up, just keep driving around the building and you'll find it.

This was the best Indian food we've ever had, anywhere. The pakoras were delicious . They came with the usual mint and tamarind sauces, but also included an amazing sweet onion sauce as well. The badami chicken was juicy and original with onions and garlic. A large portion. Even the garlic Naan was made to perfection. Service was A+, can't wait to return and try more of their offerings. A secret find in Topeka!

A bit hidden but delicious! My first time in Topeka, this seemed to be the place with the best rating with a high number of reviews, and it did not disappoint. Perhaps because it was a rainy Monday, the restaurant was nearly empty. The food, however, was everything I could have hoped for. I started with a samosa, which came with three sauces, each bursting with flavor. I then had the lamb saagwala. My only critique is that the food a bit too temperature hot, but the rice helped with reducing the heat of the saagwala. I ordered it with medium spice, which was perfect (I have a pretty high spice tolerance, but I think you would enjoy it if your spice tolerance is more moderate). Not pictured, I also ordered some ras malai to go as a new dessert experience and enjoyed that as well. I'm not in Topeka often but this is the kind of place I would frequent every week or so.

Few first time dines at a restaurant have been so sure, so dead easy with no doubts after tasting the food. There's something very special going on in the kitchen here for lunch on a cold Friday lunch time when there were but a half dozen people in the house. And in Topeka of all places, not where I'd expect a meal this exceptional. Nothing against Topeka. I wouldn't expect this in Kansas City or Lawrence where I reside. I've had my share of Indian that was very good but didn't measure up to this in London and New York City. Yes, I said that. In this little hidden away restaurant on the back side of a nondescript shopping center, magic is happening. The subtle spices, the right heat, the after taste, and the chicken and shrimp (the latter particularly difficult to cook well once they've been frozen, and this is Kansas). We had Prawn Saagwala and Butter chicken, both seasoned perfectly. Even the Peshwari Naan was a step beyond, an utterly mouth watering naan stuffed with raisins & dry fruits. Sublime. A chai started us off. No cloying heavy cream, just the hint of ginger and spices and that had been carefully prepared. And best of all, a couple of hours later, your body tells you there was none of the typical restaurant tricks used to make a first-rate tasting meal. No overuse of ghee, heavy cream, too much salt, sugar, etc. This was a hands down perfect meal. We have an appointment in Topeka in January and have already agreed this is a must stop on the way to that. In a town where I found few reasons to trip over from Lawrence, I make an exception to Monsoon. That good, very highly recommended. When I saw they have 250 reviews and a 4.5 star rating I was dubious, until the first taste passed my lips. Other reviews seem to have caught on to this. What a hidden gem that for me is no longer long hidden, but in plain sight, and happily so.

This place is a hidden gem. My family and I were driving from New Mexico and found this spot. We stopped in for dinner and the food was excellent. I especially enjoyed the garlic naan and the Vindaloo Chicken. The service was great as well and I would highly recommend this place for anyone in the area or just people passing by. You don't wanna miss this amazing Indian food. read more

In an area being quickly dominated by fast casual restaurants - Noodles and Company, Jimmy Johns, Chipotle - it's good to remember that Topeka can, occasionally, have really exciting new places that aren't just more chains. Monsoon is one of those places. I've been to several Indian restaurants both expensive and cheap in my day, and have enjoyed a lot of good curry and naan as well, and I must say this is some of the best I've ever had. On my first visit I had the lamb vindaloo, spicy but not too spicy, and sampled some of the tikka masala as well. Since I went with my family, I was very happy to see that the menu explained everything very simply without too many exotic words, and the servers, although they're all very young, seem used to lots of questions and ready to go ask the cook in the back if they can't satisfy your curiosity. Although their menu isn't gigantic they do have an equally large veggie meal section as they do a curry section, so they might not have your lamb korma (that I know of) but you can certainly find something new. The dishes are both clean and fancy, the spices are perfect and the naan, if you order it, which you should, is fresh and delicious. Although it is a pricey place for dinner, their food seems worth it. Definitely not disappointed. read more

This seems like a new place for topeka. I was up front and told my server I knew nothing about Indian food and she was patient and informative. That said, I wish wouldn't have been sat with the employees standing behind me wrapping silverware and training. My appetizer was delish and I would have it again. It was the mixed sampler. I had the chicken tikka masala and it was a generous portion full of flavor. I will be coming here again and glad there is another Indian food joint in town. read more

I had the butter chicken and garlic nann! The flavor was great I got the medium heat but wish I had tried the hot because the medium was rather mild, but not complaining about that. The garlic nann melts in your mouth and with the butter chicken sauce just wow! It was pretty busy for the small space when I got there but both waitress and waiter where very attentive. read more

Overpriced & run-of-the-mill Indian restaurant food. Paid $20+ for nonsense pakoras that looked like balls of channa atta & nothing else; generic mango lassi, & 1 other non-memorable appetizer. It felt more like they are running an operation than catering to real people's tastes & palates. When I called on Christmas to place an order, they said they may or may not close early, just depends. I decided to try this place out before it was highly rated and I had a severe craving for Chicken Tikka Masala. I should have gone else where. I ordered online and there was a price discrepancy between their online ordering system and their "actual menu price". Okay so update your online ordering system or honor the price since it's your mistake. I paid for the food and almost immediately after eating I got severely sick. Even if it hadn't made me sick the curry was sub par and naan was gummy. Try Pal instead. read more

This is legit delicious Indian food. I had the monsoon peppery chicken and saag paneer. Hailing from NYC, this hole-in-the-wall (or strip mall) restaurant is one of the best Indian food I've tasted. I would go back for their saag paneer. Masala tea was very good as well. From my week here for work in Topeka, I've learned to not judge a restaurant from its facade. read more

Hidden gem. I went to Monsoon with a friend last night. Didn't really know what to expect, but the service was great, friendly, and the food was awesome. I didn't know Topeka had such a hidden gem. Their samosas were outstanding, the garlic naan came out hot right out of the oven and were SUPER GARLICY which I loved. The butter chicken was perfectly spicy and so creamy. I had a gigantic beer with it and a mango lassi that was perfect. They even stayed open 30 minutes late for us because we had arrived a bit late. 5/5 stars can't wait to go back next time I'm in Topeka. Monsoon is better than most KC Indian restaurants. read more

Indian food in Topeka!! My daughter, son in law, husband and I found this place in TOPEKA KANSAS!! Visiting from out of state so we wanted something easy that staff was very knowledgeable and very friendly. It's small but packs a punch. Naan was good, wish we had started earlier in the day so we would have had more time to try more items. But we each ordered something different and shared everything was pretty good. Went here for lunch on a Saturday and was very satisfied with the menu options, food, service, and atmosphere! I got the $9.99 lunch special that came with butter chicken, a chickpea side, rice, naan, and dessert. My husband ordered the same thing (meat and potatoes type of guy) but really liked it too! It was delicious and fills you up. The lunch buffet is currently closed due to COVID. The restaurant wasn't busy and left plenty of space for social distancing. Would definitely come again! read more

Fellow road warrior here. Found this place on yelp....good reviews...great food....decided to try it. THANK YOU YELP! This is the true reason I love this app. Had Lamb Korma, garlic naan...kinda my usual. Really great tender lamb, cashews with perfect rice. The naan was surprisingly and noticeably better than any I've had. But the most memorable was the staff. Friendly and professional. The only gentlemen I saw, on the dining floor, was the best. I watched him table, after table, welcome newcomers and recognize repeating guests. Just an overall refreshing experience. read more

My best friend and I got takeout from here on Thanksgiving and let me just say, we did not miss turkey and stuffing. The chicken tikka masala was flavorful, the naan was soft and they gave us a ton of rice! Cannot recommend highly enough. A true hidden gem of Topeka, Kansas. read more

The lunch buffet was solid in flavor but limited in variety. This latter concern was not a major issue given that the flavor was surprisingly solid for Topeka. One of the servers was attentive and helpful. A different server very clearly was rushing us out after 20 minutes. We were eat obscene amounts of food and the restaurant was half full. The pressure to finish and leave was off putting. read more

Nothing to grade down! Lovely and clean excellent service, great food. My wife took me to the Express on Washburn and I thot it was all bland and boring so I didn't want to go. What a pleasant surprise. I can't remember the Indian names but we shared a fried fish appetizer with three sauces: superb. I had tandoori shrimp served on grilled veg, also superb. Wife had lamb in a puréed spinach and rice, again, superb. Service excellent and helpful. We'll be back! read more

This is probably the best Indian restaurant that I have eaten at. Starting from the ambiance of the place to the service and the food, everything was excellent. For appetizers we had lahsooni gobhi, keema naan, veg and non veg grill platters. Lahsooni gobhi was the best of the lot and I say that even though I love non veg food. For main course we had chicken currey, methi malai mutter and dal tardka. Each item was delicious. There breads were authentic notth Indian delights that I have seen very rarely in USA. Then we come to deserts . Kheer with peech was my fav of the lot. We also tried mango kulfi and shashi tukda. Both these items were amazingly delicious as well. Its a 3 hr drive from my place but I am definitely visiting this one again read more

Indian food is one of my absolute favorite cuisines, and I think I've found a decent place to go in Topeka after my dinner at the Monsoon Grill tonight. Three friends and I shared two orders of garlic naan and the Chicken65 as an appetizer. The chicken is in small pieces, fried, and coated in sauce. I thought it was pretty good but not amazing and will probably try a different appetizer next time. The naan tasted fresh and had the perfect amount of garlic. For my entree, I got the Chicken Tikka Masala. You can choose your spice level (mild, medium, spicy, or extra spicy). I love spice and usually find restaurants don't make food spicy enough but this dish got the spice level just right. They give you a lot of chicken and sauce and about 2 cups of rice so it's a lot of food! What really impressed me was the three different chutneys they gave us with the meal. They tasted fresh and much more flavorful than others I've tried. I also got the mango kulfi for dessert which is like a mango ice cream. It was a little icy for my liking but the mango flavor was great. Next time I'll probably go with the mango lassi. Service was friendly overall although it took a little while for the dessert to come out and our waitress kind of disappeared towards the end of the meal. We got to apply a 15% student discount so that was nice. Next time I'll be back to try the buffet. read more

I just finished by take home/leftovers from our visit Sunday evening. And they were still fabulous or even better. We had tandoori chicken (dark meat - yeah!!) and onion bread and 'raisin' bread both excellent. I had the tandoori fish - which had a wonderful sauce. The rice, the raita, even the chutney was excellent. The service was beyond the belief - and while I wouldn't recommend stopping at 8pm - as we did Topeka has a great opportunity here for wonderful food. Stop early and often - you dont even have to drive all the way from Iowa like I will, but be sure I will read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Topeka! I love the butter chicken and garlic naan. Other favorites are the samosas and kulfi mango. I do think the recent price increases were a bit steep. Would love a bigger size of the mango lassi ~ it is wonderful. While the restaurant inside is very attractive and clean, I hope there are plans to move to a more desirable location facing Wanamaker, rather than tucked away near an alley. I love Indian food and I thank you so much for being here! read more

I had a fantastic evening here! We had the chicken65 appetizer, it was full of layered flavors and perfectly spicy. The lamb curry entrée was also wonderful. I got medium spice and it was just perfect for me. The waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us choose a cocktail and desert to compliment our dinner. We have been a constant visitor to Monsoon Grill. The taste of food here, reminds me and takes me back to India. We had a get together for 30+ friends and families. Ordered catering from here. Food was very delicious. The order was custom made. Everyone liked Papdi Chat in specific, while Baingan Bartha was awasome. We have eaten at Monsoon a number of times, and we really like it. I recommend the peshwari naan - yum! Also, vegetable pakoras, chicken korma, and saag paneer are favorites. Very pleasant environment, and I like that you can choose the level of spice. We love Indian food and have eaten it in many cities across the country. We discovered this gem in april of this year! Went to the Sunday buffet yesterday!! Every thing was amazing, but what stood out to me was the allu- potato curry i believe, and fried potato thingys. my daughter tried this for the first time and she fell in love.
